  Everything We Wanted!

  Can't say enough for how amazing the night was with Derek and his music getting the party started and keeping it up all night long. Started the night off with some Disney music, getting our crowd of ~15 children on the dance floor and getting their energy way up. Worked from a small list of preferred music, blended in requests from me instantly and seamlessly. We had compliments for Derek coming in all night from all ranges of friends and family. Couldn't have asked for anything more!

  Absolutely no regrets

  Derek did an amazing job! I would recommend him to anybody. We received so many compliments from guests. Announcements, DJing, lighting and more Derek did the most to make sure everything went smoothly and then turned into a party!! He made it easy to trust him from our first conversation; with his experience and enthusiasm I had nothing to worry about. I can't rave enough about The Block Party. If you want one less thing to stress about choose them.

  Amazing! 10/10

  Derek is amazing! My guests were pointing out all night how great the mixes were, and still talk about the music at our wedding to this day! We had a group of Swifties at our wedding (myself included) and boy did he deliver. Never thought I’d hear a mashup of Bad Blood x Iron Man by Black Sabbath but it was so, so fun!
  
  Derek was also kind enough to surprise us with a vinyl of Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves that he used to play our first dance song. Love!
  
  Derek is 10/10 and so easy, kind, and wonderful to work with. You won’t be disappointed!

  We highly recommend Derek!

  We chose our wedding date around Derek’s availability because it was that important to us that he DJ our wedding. Having attended a wedding he DJ’d back in 2018, he was a non-negotiable vendor. We knew his style - he wasn’t just going to turn on a generic playlist for the day. Derek knows how to read the crowd and select songs based on how they’re acting. During the planning process he offered suggestions for first dance songs when we were stuck, and helped us develop a timeline that worked for us and our style. Then, he absolutely, positively killed it on the day of our wedding. We had developed a nine-hour Spotify playlist as “inspiration” ranging from club music, to 2000s emo, to country, to showtunes. He masterfully wove each of those very different genres into our night and into the memories of our guests. Derek is so talented and we are so lucky that he was part of our special day. It is truly a night we will never forget.

  A DJ and host that really made our wedding feel special

  Derek met over the phone with us a few times before the wedding to really understand both our personalities and our music tastes. On the day of the wedding he acted as the host, greeting our guests, setting expectations and assisting with anything he could. The sound quality and levels on the microphones for the ceremony were perfect. The music during dinner was so fitting and matched our tastes so well that it felt like something we came up with ourselves. We got compliment after compliment on how good the music was for dancing after dinner. He mixed classics and more modern music together beautifully and had everyone up dancing all night. We could not have had a better experience and would recommend Derek every single time.

  Amazing experience with Derek

  My husband Brennan and I are so happy that we chose Derek (The Block Party) as our DJ. Multiple of guests kept asking us if he was one of our good friends-he makes your wedding feel personal-and that he genuinely cares about you as a couple! From the moment we booked him, Derek has been so easygoing and made this process as smooth as possible.

  Listen to us and every other review!

  No words in the English language can convey how truly incredible Derek from The Block Party is! When we were planning our wedding and looking for entertainment, we happened to ask our photographer (Jill DeVries, also amazing!) if she could recommend an amazing DJ to us. She told us Derek from the Block Party DJ’ed HER wedding and everyone was on the dance floor all night. Knowing that’s exactly what we wanted, we contacted Derek for a meeting and immediately following our very first conversation, we knew we had to hire him. He was so warm, listened to our ideas/what we wanted sincerely, and left us feeling so pumped up for our big day and how epic it was going to be! Even throughout our whole wedding planning experience, Derek was always so quick to answer a text or email, like talking to a friend. I mean… he’s just an amazing person!! As a DJ, Derek has incredible taste, deep passion for what he does, and has so much expertise. He is also amazing at reading the room, can seamlessly weave songs together, and gives every part of the night the atmosphere it calls for. So long story short, we cannot recommend Derek highly enough. We’d be the luckiest to be able to be on another one of his dance floors!

  Hire this DJ!

  Where to even start? We had seen and heard reviews that Derek was an incredible DJ and Emcee, but he far exceeded our expectations. He was a joy to work with and created the perfect dance experience. One of our priorities for the evening was to have an absolute banger - everyone we talked to after the wedding could not stop raving about the dance floor. We asked for him to bring the noise, and he did not disappoint! Highly recommended.

  Great and personable DJ! Highly recommend

  Derek is a great DJ! Every part of the process from getting to know us, through to providing guidance on the day of, and our favorite part selecting music. He's truly passionate about music and was able to find the perfect songs and do amazing mash up genres that only the greats could do! We had multiple guests comment how great he was and we agree!

  Passionate DJ Wes

  Wes we love you! Guys this team is so passionate about their music. After our first meeting, we left saying “man this is going to be a party”. We postponed our wedding twice because of Covid and they were so accommodating each time. Wes is definitely a good vibes only man. I was pretty nervous about blending traditional Lebanese music and drummers but he did it so well! We will miss this man! Thanks for making our wedding such a smash Wes

  Derek with the block party is the best of the best!

  I had the opportunity to have Derek as my DJ for my June 2022 wedding. Derek is absolutely amazing. He takes the time to know you and to understand your vision for the night. He was always available with any questions I had. I cannot stress enough how thankful I was having him part of my wedding day. His professionalism is incredible. One of the best vendors I have ever worked with. I would hire him again in a heartbeat.

  The Whites have a block party!!

  Derek made our wedding an absolute dream!! We could not have imagined a better DJ who kept the dance floor full the entire night and played a variety of our favorites from just a few suggestions. He was very open to any and all suggestions and did a great job at incorporating all our favorites. This is no average DJ playing songs off of a playlist- he is fully set up with the turn tables and song transitions that were outstanding. All of our wedding guests can’t stop talking about how fun our wedding was and it’s a huge thanks to Derek!

  Derek was absolutely amazing, and went above and beyond for every single part of our celebration - from planning all the way to the afterparty. He incorporated our guests' requests into his mix, did an amazing job sensing and steering the mood of the party, and was an absolute delight to work with. He is a complete professional, very good at what he does, and an all round excellent person. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

  You Will Not Find a Better DJ!

  Derek/The Block Party was AMAZING. Easily my favorite vendor to work with. He was so easy going, and so responsive. He truly gave us the best service and best experience. We met via zoom before the wedding to go over the whole vibe and what we were looking for and he totally nailed it. We had soo many guests come up to us to let us know how great our DJ was. I was very particular on some of the music and he was able to deliver on everything. If you want the best music and MCing experience you NEED to book The Block Party! I will miss working with Derek!

  I don’t know if words can ever be enough to describe how amazing working with Derek at The Block Party was. From our first conversation we knew he would understand exactly what were looking for and he definitely delivered. I am still getting messages weeks later from guests about how amazing the music / party was. Derek took our very eclectic music taste and he ran with it. It was exactly what I imagined for our wedding day. Everything was perfect. Don’t think I left the dance floor one time. Would definitely recommend!!!!!

  The Block Party is hands down the best DJ you can use at your wedding. They listen beforehand, are very normal people not trying to pinch pennies out of a couple already budgeting every part of their wedding, are upfront about what they can do and recommendations, read the room during your wedding and so much more. We had countless individuals at our wedding comment on how great of a DJ The Block Party is. At the very least, reach out to the Block Party and see what they can do for you. I sincerely think you're going to be blown away.

  Above and Beyond Our Expectations!

  One of the desires for our wedding was an intimate gathering with close family and friends. We wanted the wedding day to be celebration. Despite the stress of planning a wedding during COVID, our day was just as we dreamed— actually above and beyond!
  
  Derek Hall from DJ Block Party was one of the pivotal factors in helping to make our day amazing! From the initial interview where he was not only friendly, but listened to our vision, preferences, and music styles, my then fiancé and I felt confident Derek would do an amazing job.
  
  He came up a day early to help us with our rehearsal since he was DJ’ing the ceremony music. He was flexible as we made minor changes the day before and worked closely with us to make sure he understood the schedule of events.
  
  On the wedding day, he handled our ceremony music where we had three very different songs; yet, he managed to have them flow well.
  
  And he was outstanding with not only handling the major things like keeping the music amped up and celebratory, but the other aspects like pronouncing all of our wedding party’s names correctly, announcing the speeches, and flowing with our tango as the first dance and the special first dances, to moving to the tent from the barn for the dancing.
  
  He kept the party going on the dance floor, playing great tunes that encouraged guests to show off their moves along with played the three special requests my husband and I wanted.
  
  Our guests raved about how he was one of the best DJ’s they’ve experienced and how he helped make the wedding intimate and fun. We couldn’t agree more!
  
  Actually, my brother commented that you’d thought he (Derek) was a family friend because he personalized the special moments like when he introduced the Father of the Bride speech. Those little touches weren’t lost on us, and helped make our wedding feel very intimate.
  
  I’ve attended over ten weddings in the past few years and none of those DJ’s could compare to Derek. He blew them all out of the water! Highly recommend!

  He came up a day early to help us with our rehearsal since he was DJ’ing the ceremony music. He was flexible as we made minor changes the day before and worked closely with us to make sure he understood the schedule of events.
  
  On the wedding day, he handled our ceremony music where we had three very different songs; yet, he managed to have them flow well.
  
  And he was outstanding with not only handling the major things like keeping the music amped up and celebratory, but the other aspects like pronouncing all of our wedding party’s names correctly, announcing the speeches, and flowing with our tango as the first dance and the special first dances, to moving to the tent from the barn for the dancing.
  
  He kept the party going on the dance floor, playing great tunes that encouraged guests to show off their moves along with played the three special requests my husband and I wanted.
  
  Our guests raved about how he was one of the best DJ’s they’ve experienced and how he helped make the wedding intimate and fun. We couldn’t agree more!
  
  Actually, my brother commented that you’d thought he (Derek) was a family friend because he personalized the special moments like when he introduced the Father of the Bride speech. Those little touches weren’t lost on us, and helped make our wedding feel very intimate.
  
  I’ve attended over ten weddings in the past few years and none of those DJ’s could compare to Derek. He blew them all out of the water! Highly recommend!

  I cannot sing Derek’s praises enough! I was blown away with how amazing, professional and talented Derek is. He put his whole heart into our wedding. Going above and beyond; from getting drinks with us to understand what vibe we shared, to managing the little details of my big day. Derek provided me with memories that will forever be cherished. My guests and my I were blown away how he blended his songs, took requests, and read the crowd so well, that our dance floor was flooded all night!   Derek and The Block Party made my wedding day one I will never forget. His attention to detail and passion for bringing people together through music made him the best DJ I could have hoped for. From our first email, I could tell that Derek loved music and bringing people together. His pre-wedding questionnaire helped us lay out our wedding day and ensure everything went off without a hitch.   From the start, I knew this was a perfect match. Not only did Derek and Wes go ABOVE AND BEYOND dj-ing my small wedding, the delivery before and afterwards was incredible as well. To start, the DJs are very approacheable and so easy to talk to. Through emails, calls, and video chats they helped me with not only our music, but even with small day of details that I didn’t even think about! Their commitment to us was incredible. They really took the time to listen to our preferences as a couple. The day of… I don’t have enough words to describe how AMAZING our night was. Even with the unexpected rain, this duo already had a plan and executed it so well. I never for a second had to worry. I enjoyed every single song that was played. My intimate wedding of 30 people thrived off the music. Wes and Derek embodied what our vibe was and made it come to life. Not only was the music perfect, Derek was so attentive to the day of wedding plan and kept everything moving smoothly. I can honestly say working with these 2 was one of the best decisions I ever made. We now have djs and friends for life. From the planning and pep talks to the actual music, everything was perfect.   Made our day perfect!

  Derek absolutely went above and beyond to help make our day perfect! We worked with Derek throughout the entire process and we could not have done it without him! We had a lot of questions about the timeline and how to organize everything the day-of, but Derek took the time to talk through all our thoughts and provide his opinion/recommendation. He sent us some playlists and song options to review and offered his suggestions when we weren't sure what we wanted to go with. The day of our 9/5/21 wedding, everything was executed perfectly for both our short ceremony as well as our reception. He stayed in communication with our vendors, checked in with us throughout the day, and kept a great pulse on the night. The playlist was fun, kept everyone on the dance floor, and offered a great mix of all our favorite songs and genres. We appreciated his willingness to help guide us when we needed it, but also the attention he paid to details along the way to offer song options to fill in some key places.

  Everything we wanted and more!

  Derek did such a fabulous job at our wedding- we could not have been more pleased. He did a great job setting up the equipment both inside and outside so people could hear what was going on at all times; he read the room perfectly and knew exactly what to play, even though our music preferences were not necessarily standard; he improvised many times including seeing how perfect the sunset was and in turn inviting us to have our first dance outside- something I never would have thought of; he personally took video of our exit since our photographer had already left. Not only were we ecstatic over his service, we had many guests comment on how much they loved him, and it was evidenced by a very active dance floor. We are so grateful for Derek!

  We knew the vibe we wanted for our reception music, but we didn't want to prescribe a playlist, so we gave Wes a handful of songs and told him to run with it.
