Great Party, Amazing Food

We don't even know where to start because the entire Bread & Butter team was THAT good! They really do know how to throw a party and we can't recommend them enough. The entire menu was absolutely incredible and all of our guests were raving about how delicious the food was. From the day that we hired them they were amazing to work with, incredibly communicative and professional. Renee was our day of coordinator and we are so grateful for her! She helped give us the wedding of our dreams by flawlessly executing our vision, and she was such a calming presence throughout the final weeks and days. They were worth every penny and we would hire them again in a heartbeat.

So, so tastey!

The team at Bread & Butter is absolutely amazing! With the COVID pandemic, I had to completely re-plan my whole wedding. Bread & Butter were very accommodating and more than willing to make the necessary changes. They were so flexible to work with from our rental needs to our menu. The food was incredible and every bite was picture worthy. I had high expectations and they blew me away!. Even almost a month later, all our guests are still saying how we had the best food they have ever had a wedding. I can't wait to use Bread & Butter again in the future! Thank you guys so much for making our day extra perfect!

Great Experience

Loved everything about this company. From our first emails to the tasting, they were so excited about our special day (even though they have so many people's special day, when emailing with them they made it seem like ours was the top on the list, so thank you!). Food was excellent, as was presentation-we got a lot of compliments from our friends and family. It was so nice having a different menu for a wedding reception-we had tacos, sliders, a salad bar with tons of fixings for it-made it very unique, and our guests did not go home hungry! Both being the huge foodies that we are, my husband and I were so unbelievably grateful and honored to have the opportunity of working with the rightfully high-praised Bread & Butter Catering Company for our wedding.

We researched all recommendations we received, both word of mouth and well published, and when we came across Bread & Butter’s culinary artistry, vast selection, originality, and the attention to detail, we could tell we had stumbled upon the ULTIMATE choice for a caterer, and sure enough they absolutely amazed everyone in attendance, and in every way possible.

   We honestly can’t say enough great things about how phenomenal the food was, and to this day we have friends and family talk about it and tell us that it was literally the best food they’ve ever experienced at an event, let alone a wedding, and that went for the service, as well.

   There wasn’t anything they weren’t able to customize for us, and from the extraordinary culinary excellence, level of quality, the fresh and local ingredients, everything was just beyond words.

   Between the phenomenal and intimate food tasting they created, the opportunity of working with them throughout the whole process, and us just getting to know them, it was truly the best experience possible. It was like working with our best friends, and having the bonus of them creating the best culinary and overall experience we could have ever asked for.

   In the months, weeks, and days leading up to the wedding the team was beyond helpful, competent, accommodating, and absolutely incredible in every way possible, so we ended up additionally hiring them as our day of coordinators, and it was the best decision on top of a better decision we could have made. We honestly don’t have words to express our level of deep gratitude and appreciation for the way they facilitated our wedding and allowing it all to go off with out a hitch, well there was at least one hitch, us.

   It truly was the best decision to work with them and because of that choice we will forever remember our wedding as being one of the best times of our lives, and our guest lives, no joke! To anybody who is considering them as a caterer or day of coordinator, do not miss the opportunity. They were hands-down one of the hugest reasons why we and our guests had the time of their lives.

I can't say enough about how wonderful Bread & Butter Catering is to work with! I am the mother of the bride and collaborated closely with the B&B team throughout the planning process. They were such a pleasure to work with every step of the way. Our event coordinator Renee brought it all home and orchestrated the reception my daughter and her husband - and her father and I - dreamed of. The food was SPECTACULAR ... creative, delicious and impeccably served. The antipasto and seasonal vegetable boards during cocktail hour were built with amazing care and consideration for every flavor profile (the figs were a particular favorite!). If you are looking for amazing event food, look no further! Every guest at our wedding was raving about the food at our wedding and we couldn't agree more! We were looking for a top notch caterer that would deliver the best meal and they did it! Amazing Food

B+B food is absolutely delicious!! Very flexible as I redid our menu several times. We had stations during the reception which all the guests seemed to enjoy so they could try a bit of everything. Phenomenal job!

I want to eat it all again.

You guys, just book Bread & Butter now. I cannot tell you how amazing it was to work with them and how DELICIOUS their food is. All of our guest could not (and still haven't) stopped raving about how amazing all the food stations were and how much fun it was to pick what they wanted to eat. I'm already trying to find another excuse to throw a party so I can eat so much more of their delicious food. The team who was at the wedding was also so friendly and helpful, it just made our day so special.

Hire them! They are amazing!

A week later and everybody is still raving about the food at our wedding. Every passed app at cocktail hour, the cheese board, and all the entrees were ready on time, tasted amazing and were beautiful to look at. The staff was friendly and accommodating all night, and we're really grateful that B&B also had a bartender service they could provide us for our BYOB venue as well! Overall, hiring B&B was one of the best choices we made in planning our wedding.

The name Bread + Butter does not adequately capture the presentation, quality, craft, and service that the fine people of Bread + Butter Catering provide. She helped us build a wedding menu that completely fulfilled our vision and provided our guests with all their dietary, flavor, and nutritional needs.

Closer to the big day I began working with Kelly on rentals and final adjustments. Kelly coordinated the entire process, finding the right vendor and support for our needs, while keeping such issues off of our plate during those last busy days before the wedding.

On the day of the wedding, the staff of B+B blew us away with their presentation, efficiency, and attention to detail. The venue ownership and staff, in addition to our guests, remarked continuously on- site and after the wedding about the excellent staff and the exceptional food. Of particular note was the addition of the Pu-Pu platter as our late-night snack, which earned rave reviews immediately. Our venue and our photographers were so impressed that they rapidly shared the food and layout on their Instagram pages. At the end of the night, the staff cleanly packaged all our leftovers, which allowed us to eat like royalty for another week.

For a reasonable fee, B+B also handled all of our dessert operations, which were provided by another vendor. They supplemented our own serving dishes to create a beautiful display. After the event, and even after all payments had gone out, the staff still went above and beyond to help us locate, identify and return a lost cooler. You really can’t ask for a higher level of service!

In summary, Bread + Butter Catering is a professional, quality, culinary experience with extremely attentive and personal staff, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

Bread and Butter Catering Experience

Bread and Butter catered our private island wedding, and they did a truly phenomenal job. They were flexible and able to accommodate our desire for plated meals (instead of their typical family style meals), and the food was all delicious and beautifully presented. I also have to give them major credit for making the job of catering 160+ plated meals on an island look easy and seamless -- I'm sure that this was no easy task, but everything went incredibly smoothly, and our guests raved about the food and its presentation. I would highly recommend Bread and Butter to anyone who is planning a wedding in Maine!

Thank goodness we found Kelly and the Bread & Butter crew to cater our wedding. We also arranged to have Kelly as our day of coordinator, which was the best wedding decision we made. She is AMAZING and went way above and beyond. From the beginning they accommodated our many requests, provided creative ideas, and were very responsive. Many of our guests agreed that the food was some of the best they've had, and the presentation was exactly in line with the feel of our event. B&B even sourced fresh seaweed from the beach as the bed for the raw bar. Highly recommend!!

I was afraid I would run into the issue I hear so often from brides of how they didn't get to eat... it was not so with B&B. They delivered plates of appetizers and the main course (tacos!) to our table, and we stuffed ourselves. The presentation was also stunning – they really thought of every detail for the appetizers, main course, dessert, and bar set-up.

Another reviewer said it perfectly – if you're planning a wedding in the Portland area, you'd be missing out by not having Bread & Butter cater your day.

First of all, the food was delicious!
Our daughter was married in Maine last September. From start to finish the Bread and Butter team was wonderful to work with. They understood just what atmosphere the bride and groom were looking for, something between rustic and romantic . They made very helpful suggestions about the flow and timing of the reception, and they were very responsive to all our needs. When you are organizing a wedding there are a lot of moving pieces and it's nice to have professionals you can rely on like the Bread and Butter Catering team.

Kelly and the rest of the Bread & Butter crew were marvelous to work with. We planned nearly the entire wedding from across the country, so it was truly a relief to find a vendor who not only could provide everything we wanted, but was professional and responsive right from the get-go. They helped us make sure we'd thought of everything well in advance, gave suggestions, fielded my endless questions with grace and aplomb, accommodated last-minute adjustments, and executed everything flawlessly for our rehearsal dinner.

My only regret is that I didn't find them early enough to book them for the wedding reception as well.

Over the next 16 months they went above and beyond to make sure we were organized, helped us coordinate with many of our other vendors, kept us up to date on all the seasonal changes to the menu and let us make special requests for what we'd offer our guests, and made sure we (and our parents) weren't stressing out. The weekend was more than we could have dreamed of and was full of amazing food for us and all 185 of our guests thanks entirely to Kelly, Katie, Josh and the whole Bread and Butter crew. Working with them was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding - they go above and beyond for their clients and I can't recommend them enough!

Hands down, the best caterer in the area. Flexible and fun to work with. Food was awesome. They were easily one of the highlights of our wedding.

Bread & Butter catered our wedding at the Lions Club on Peaks Island and I can't say enough good things about them. The food and drink were amazing - our guests are still telling us how much they enjoyed the fried chicken, mac & cheese, charcuterie board and other delicious goodies. Many even told us it was the best wedding food they'd ever had. I love local craft beer and they did a wonderful job of incorporating that into the bar offering. They were easy to work with, responsive to emails, and really put us at ease during the planning process. Finally, the day of the wedding went off without a hitch and as the bride it was so nice to feel like I was in good hands and didn't have to worry at all about the food, bar, and service.

Delicious, foodie-style food- exactly what my man and I were looking for being total food lovers in Portland. Guests will literally not stop talking about our charcutière board during our cocktail hour - a feast of everything you could ever want to eat at cocktail hour, displayed on a 6ft old Maine State Prison door, which just added to the amazing charm and warehousey feel of our venue, the Portland Company. Fish tacos, sliders, salads, "stuff on sticks" for dinner- addictive truffle butter with bread and family style salads...

Their presentation is unparalleled with cute paper bag signage describing each item- everything they do is BEAUTIFUL and thoughtful.

Renee Landry, their in-house dessert expert, made us a beautiful little naked cake (with very little direction from me, mind you!) and it was truly a vision. She also whipped up delicious whoopie pies which were such a hit. If you use Bread&Butter definitely use Renee/Landry's Confections for your cake/desserts- she has such a variety of items and is a total gem.

Highly recommend. Don't think. Just do.

From start to finish, this company delivers. They have incredible attention to detail and know how to throw a great party. I didn't worry about a thing when the day of my wedding came - they offered day-of coordination services, and it is well worth it. And while they didn't plan my wedding, they were with me every step of the way, allowing me to bounce ideas off of them and tap into their expertise. And their food! It's incredible - almost everything is made in-house, and what isn't is sourced locally when possible. Katie and Kelly were super flexible and offered to try a pasta station at our request.
