Old South Country Club is a hidden gem in the Baltimore/Washington Region. From the time you arrive on the property your breath is taken away by the beauty of this structure as well as the surrounding property. We had our reception outdoors on their tented patio and it was just incredibly perfect. From the cannon shot, to the oyster bar, to the gorgeous overlook over the club property and the most perfect sunset- the setting could have not been more classy, incredible and unique. Our friends are raving about the beauty of the club inside and out as well as the food- from the passed and plated hors d'eouvres to the main course. The staff was incredibly accommodating for our vendors, our families and for us. They made sure my husband and I had drinks, and yes, we ate all courses at our wedding day- thanks to their careful timeline and coordination. There was a turnover in the catering director position during our engagement but the club manager made sure we were well taken care of (we never had any communication issues during that time) and on top of that, the staff that heads the events have been there for years and were absolutely wonderful. We cannot say enough wonderful things about this venue. If you are looking for a stunning venue, with a wonderful staff that pays close attention to detail and makes sure you are well taken care of and really just amazing food- this is your place!

We had our ceremony and reception at OLd South and it was AWESOME! We worked with Lara throughout the process and she was fantastic! From our first meeting until the end of the reception she was always available for us and made our wedding day so memorable. The golf course is beautiful and the food was excellent. We had the time of our lives and will never forget how wonderful the club and the staff was. I highly recommend this venue!

Old South Country Club made for a dream wedding! My husband and I were married this past Saturday and we had the best wedding! Lara Goldstein is the coordinator at the club and she is PHENOMINAL! The tasting was fabulous, it was impossible to choose just one thing so we had two stationary appetizers (the world's BEST spinach dip, and veggies and cheese), and three passed apps - brie and fruit tarts, mini chicken cordon bleu (which my guests can't stop talking about), and mini crab cakes. There were pre-poured wine glasses in the oak room and the hunt room immediately when guests walked in. The service was amazing - the food was hot and everything was on time and ran smoothly. I cannot say enough about Lara - she is on top of everything! She even reserved our wedding night suite for us at the Maryland Inn. She checked in with us almost every day via e-mail and took care of all the linens and a lot of the decorating details. We were able to come in and decorate at the club two days before our event, and Lara was there to help the whole time. The club let us customize everything we asked for - including hanging garlands on the bannisters (the grand staircase made an amazing photo backdrop for us and our 26 person wedding party!) We used the entire first floor for cocktail hour, and then set up a photo booth down there during the reception. The top floor was decorated flawlessly. It was a DREAM COME TRUE. Both balconies (front and back) were used during the wedding for people to take a breather outside and cool down. It was raining all night and you would have never known - everything was PERFECT anyway! We hired buses to bring our guests to and from the club, the club offers ample parking but we were coming all the way from Annapolis and thought it would be easier. It was a great idea and Lara helped us arrange everthing. We had chicken Chesapeake and beef medallions for dinner - the plates were HUGE. and the champagne glasses for the toast were filled to the brim!

The location is absolutely GORGEOUS. We had our ceremony on the Veranda, cocktail hour in the Oak Room and the reception under the tent. Danny Dunne handled all the logistics and I never had to follow up or chase anyone down. The weekend ran seamless and all the guests commented on how beautiful the venue was. My mother (MOB) was extremely impressed with how professional and accommodating the staff was that day. Old South, and Danny especially, made my wedding day dreams come true. I can't express how happy I am with choosing this place for such a special time.

I lived in Florida during my planning process and was able to communicate all questions, concerns and requests via email/phone. Please do not hesitate to set up a consultation or contact Old South for a quote or any questions you may have. Happy Planning :)

The Old South Country Club is beautiful inside and out! All of the staff were accommodating and so pleasant! Cati Mitchell is absolutely amazing to work with! She is so sweet and helpful! Cati made sure that everything was done just how I wanted it and was so flexible in allowing me to bring things to the venue. She was always available to answer all of my questions and could be contacted via email or phone. The food was absolutely delicious! We served prime rib and chicken chesapeake. The prime rib was so tender and had very little fat. YUM!

Old South was a beautiful setting for our reception. Dalila was very helpful in the planning process and had amazing attention to detail. We had our cocktail hour in the Oak room and on the adjacent patio, and then dinner and dancing was on the back patio under a tent. It was the perfect space to entertain our family and friends and everyone raved about how beautiful the club was. Dalila worked very hard to make our vision come true and was very reasonable in terms of pricing. Our food, particularly the appetizers, were delicious and the servers were very friendly and efficient. We would certainly recommend Old South as a wonderful place to host an event!

The country club is beautiful. The director or catering did a great job and made sure that the wedding, ceremony and reception, went smoothly. I think this location is a nice choice to have a wedding.

After touring several suburban DC venues, Old South knocked it out of the park. They were the first venue I visited, and nothing else ever compared. Fall weddings are especially beautiful here. There were a few snags in the planning process (mainly staff turnover), but I would not have changed the venue. This place made my wedding.

    Perks:
-Allows lots of set up time
-The catering pricing includes an open bar! Very affordable
-The club has space for a ceremony, a cocktail hour, and a reception, so no need for transportation; also has a bridal suite, a make up room, a room for gifts/guestbook, coats, etc
-A stunningly beautiful but also modern building that is well-maintained
-The grounds also provide lots of photo ops
    -Only one wedding per day
    -Very reasonable site fee/room rental
-Food was pretty good, we got a lot of it
-If you want an outdoor ceremony but don't want to worry about rain, they have a beautiful veranda overlooking the golf course that has a (free) large tent in place from spring to fall

    Cons:
-I had a long engagement and booked this venue roughly 1.5 years out; this resulted in three different catering managers during my relationship with the club. Staff turnover is a huge problem
-The permanent dance floor in the ballroom is a tad small, so if you're planning on having a big dance party, people will wind up on the carpet, but then again, you don't have to pay for it
-A word of caution about the tent: it's not the prettiest thing on the underside, but I was quoted $2,000 to drape it.... I decided in the end that no one would remember the tent from out 5 minute ceremony and that I should spend the money elsewhere, but just something to think about
-I recommend hiring a day-of coordinator, even if it is your OCD problem-solving friend who likes to organize things

Overall, Old South was great. They only do one wedding a day, so that's nice. We could use the building any time we wanted. It was private- golfers on the course, but you could hardly tell and no one came up into the private space. You have to see to understand. For the wedding day, they did a good job serving everyone and keeping the bar moving. It was very nice. The grounds were also well-upkept, freshly painted and cleaned. Bridal suite was beautiful!

Downsides were- the turnover with the Catering Manager made communications difficult for awhile. The catering manager we ended up with- Diva Lynch, also made calculation errors and tried to blame everyone for it (she still owes us like $40). I rated value a little low because I didn't like having to pay for alcohol and the meal together, for kids and non-drinkers it felt priced too high.

Old South was a beautiful location for our wedding. They were extremely flexible as we changed our mind several times. On the day of the wedding the coordinator had everything under control and greeted us with confidence and smiles. We ran a little late but the staff members pulled it off with class. We were very happy with this location and loved the backdrop it gave for our pictures. Definitely would recommend the site to another couple.... gotta try the crab cakes!

Old South is a beautiful venue with a picturesque backdrop. Our wedding was a few weeks ago and the fall foliage was absolutely beautiful. The only downfall was the Old South clearly has some personnel issues. Our point of contact changed 5 times from the time we made our deposit. The latest point of contact was brought on one week before our wedding and attempted to alter some of the details we had already worked out with previous staff. Quite a few things became lost in translation due to the changes, but our awesome wedding coordinator was able handle those issues for us.

We had Old South booked for about a year and a half for our wedding. During that time, the Catering Manager changed hands at least 3 times, the GM and other people that were appointed as our POC also without ANY communication from Old South. It was extremely frustrating to deal with multiple people, all promising to honor the previous POC's mistakes along the way only to get to the week of our wedding and say they can't honor them all. In the end, it worked out BUT I don't think it would have worked as well had we not had a wedding planner. We had our ceremony on the side patio and our reception in the tent out back. The tent itself is on the new side and very clean; however, the sides of the tents could stand to be replaced or at the very least cleaned. There were gaps in the sides and even though we had heaters, guests seated near these gaps were still cold. The location and venue is BEAUTIFUL. I really hope their catering manager and GM stick around because in the end, it is a gorgeous place to get married.

Old south is beautiful. We got shuffled around from event planner to event planner 3 times. It was scary, but the Tiffany enden up doing a great job. During the wedding I would have liked better service, as the bride I would have thought my water glass would have been kept full however i has to go to the bar myself to get water. In all we got lovely pictures and we had a great time.

Old south is beautiful however the food service was not so great. As the bride I had to keep going to the bar and asking for water the glasses were never refilled. However, they did set up the room just as I asked and that was great.

The Good: 1. The grounds are beautiful, especially in the fall. 2. The price was decent. For ~120 people, the final bill was under $20k, only $2k for the rental fee. 3. They do one wedding per day, and they seem to be flexible with arrival/departure times.

The Bad: 1 Communication: We liked our original POC Diva ,but she and her two replacements (Danny and Beth) were no longer our POCs by the wedding day. This led to a great deal of confusion within Old South and ultimately anxiety and stress for us. Communication and follow through are lacking. 2 Condition: The place is just kind of run down, which is a real shame. Doorknobs falling off, outdoor chairs with rips and stains (you basically have to cover them or rent chairs), dirty tent walls, floors with huge stains... there just isn't an attention to detail anywhere in the rental areas. It's a beautiful setting, so I'm not sure why these minor details aren't tended to. 3 Getting Ready: The bridal suite also housed an office and our POC Lara was working while I was getting ready for my wedding. It was awkward getting ready with her there. Also, the groom's room was not provided with food until after the wedding started. 4 Service: We were told we'd have two bars upstairs and we only had one. We heard complaints that one bartender was rude and couldn't make basic drinks, even the margarita that was approved weeks prior. As the bride and groom, we received very poor service - our wedding planner and photographer actually had to get our drinks at dinner. 5 Billing: There were repeated errors in the invoice, and it was not finalized until hours before the wedding.

Note: I did have a full-time wedding planner, so this was MUCH less painful than it could have been.

TL;DR - I can't in good conscience recommend Old South until they clean the place and get their act together when it comes to service, invoicing, and communication. Be sure to get all promises in writing if you book here!
