  Perfect Wedding Venue!

  Had my daughter, Skye and new husband, Jake's wedding and reception here Saturday, October 13th. Everything was absolutely perfect! Stephanie the owner was available to us since we signed the contract over a year ago, and they were so helpful and accommodating! All our guests remarked on how beautiful the setting and views were. And, their wines are fabulous! I recommend without any hesitation at all! Love them!

  A fairy tale wedding

  Finding The Columns for our wedding was the best thing ever!! There is no other venue in the area that can compare to it! We worked with Stephanie and Steve to have the best wedding ever and they delivered. It poured down rain about the time our ceremony was supposed to start but Steve was there to work with us to push the ceremony back so we could get married outside which was important to us. Our pictures turned out better than imagine since the venue is absolutely gorgeous!! You cannot go wrong picking this venue, the owners are amazing to work with and the wine is to die for!!

  WE COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A MORE PERFECT WEDDING VENUE IN THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS! Stephanie and her husband Steve are the most gracious, meticulous and caring people we worked with throughout our entire wedding planning process. Seriously, they are some of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my life. For starters, their home and new winery reception hall are out of this world. The panoramic views of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten Mountains are unbelievable! The ceremony was beautiful, you literally couldn't pick a more picturesque place to exchange wedding vows. We transitioned to the cocktail hour on the patio in front of their new winery with Jeffersonian architecture and brick and people were blown away. Even during the reception we couldn't keep people inside with the DJ because they all just wanted to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather and breathtaking views! As our guests drove up they were all taken aback by the beauty of northern Virginia, especially with so many guests traveling from out of state. From day one Stephanie was responsive and anticipated every detail. Unlike most venues, she also serves as your private wedding coordinator and her team has both the ceremony space, cocktail hour patio and reception hall set-up before your arrival with chairs, tables, linens, you name it. She brings everything you have envisioned for your wedding to life without having to lift a finger and the best part is that it is included in the price! If the gorgeous views are not enough to draw you to The Columns at Six Penny Farm then the Pence Family should be. Most venues you pay a rental fee that only gives you access to the venue, that's it. Here, you get a beautiful space, tables, chairs, linens, napkins, cocktail tables, caterer tables, lawn games, signs, and some of the best wine in the area on site! Skip the overpriced venues in Charlottesville where you and get a beautiful vineyard nestled between two mountain ranges!

  This was flawless, they stayed for the entire wedding in case anything needed to be done. And had everything prepared for the day off. My only change would be letting people set up a day early without a charge. Other than that it was a flawless and perfect venue. Absolutely amazing

  My daughter's wedding took place on Oct 8, 2017 at the beautiful Columns at Six Penny Farm in McGaheysville, just east of Harrisonburg, Va. Stephanie was so gracious on our first visit to this amazing venue...the views from every corner of the property are breathtaking. We planned the outdoor ceremony on the pergola with the Blue Ridge in the background. For the reception we enjoyed the newly built 60' X 60' reception hall that was spacious enough to seat our 160 guests while allowing for a large dance floor. Our DJ, Alexander Verno from Richmond, played his music into the night and the acoustics in the room were excellent. Included in the venue cost were ceremony chairs and set up, and the set up of reception tables, chairs, linens and napkins as well as miscellaneous decorations and lawn games. The caterers, Pumpernickel Pickle, appreciated the large kitchen set up space with large walk in refrigerator. Stephanie recommended our photographer, J Ellis Photography, and there were unlimited spaces , inside and out, to get some gorgeous shots of the bridal party and guests. The Columns is a beautiful, unique setting for a wedding. The venue has plenty of parking, is easily accessible from Route 33, east of Harrisonburg, offers a price inclusive of many of the items you would normally have to rent separately, and is owned and operated by a local family. We are so happy with our decision to have my daughter's fall wedding at the Columns.

  The Columns is a gorgeous venue in a gorgeous setting. The value is great, and we had a beautiful ceremony and fun reception. Although the owners were helpful throughout the planning process, the way they treated my guests and me on our wedding day is what negatively impacted my experience.
  
  When you tour, the owner makes it clear that the venue is also a private home and there are specific rules for using the space. We were fine with this when we signed the contract, because it seemed fair that they wouldn’t want a huge group wandering around the house or being in places they shouldn’t. However, it was an issue on our wedding day when the owner insisted on following the wedding party around as we took photos in the house and hovering nearby wherever we went, presumably to make sure we didn’t damage anything.
  
  This unnecessarily close supervision was extremely off-putting, to the point that I asked our photographer to cut the indoor photo shoot short and go outside to finish taking photos. After our wedding, I also received multiple comments from family members and our photographer about how uncomfortable they felt. I would advise future couples to plan to spend as little time as possible inside the house or to have a specific “indoor” shot list so you can avoid having a similar experience. The owners also spoke to our DJ about lowering the volume during our 4:30 to 9 PM reception in a tent in the middle of a field, because of concerns about the neighbors…this was another instance in which we were engaging in normal behavior (at a normal noise level) but we were treated like we were causing a problem.
  
  Although the venue is beautiful, I hope that in the future the owners decide whether they want the Columns to remain a private home or to become a proper wedding venue, because in my experience it was uncomfortable for everyone involved trying to have it be both.

  The place was very gorgeous, but the owners gave us one price and when we went to go take a look around the place the price had changed and they would not honor what was told to us. Very disappointing, not a way that i would do business. So needless to say, we definitely did not book with them.
