    Great so far.

Our first meeting with Chad was great. Can’t wait to work with him.

Great Food and Service at the Heights

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Heights Event Center in August 2018 and were very happy with our choice to work with the Heights for our wedding. We set up a tour of the venue about a year before our wedding. When we arrived for the tour the venue was set up for an upcoming wedding and looked very nice. This helped us see how well the space could be used for our own wedding and got us thinking about what kind of look we would want for ourselves. After we expressed interest in the Heights, the owner and director, Chad, set up a food tasting for us. This was done at no charge, and allowed us to select 2-3 options for each part of the meal to try ahead of time. The food tasting was done very well and we were blown away by the flavors and quality of the food. This led to our decision to book the Heights for our reception.

Leading up to the wedding, we had several touch bases with Chad to go over our bar and food menu selections, discuss our guest count and other logistics for our day. Overall this went well. One thing to remember about working with the Heights is that it is a small business. So if your wedding or event is not in the near future you may not always receive an immediate response to emails, as Chad may be working with another client whose event is nearer. This was not a problem for us as we were reaching out for some things quite a bit in advance of our own wedding.

On the day before the wedding, Chad allowed us to set up the majority of the decorations ahead of time. This included table decorations, several easels with large frames, and a backdrop behind the head table. While this would not have been possible if there was an event the day before our wedding, we felt very lucky to be able to set up and it relieved a lot of stress on the wedding day. Overall this flexibility was really helpful to us.

On the day of the wedding, the venue was set up perfectly, the cocktail hour food and dinner food were amazing and our guests had a wonderful experience. We had our guest book and photo displays set up in the lobby area and our dinner and dance in the main hall. Both spaces were clean, set up nicely and provided a good impression to us and our guests. The service provided by the bar and wait staff was courteous, timely and attentive. Besides the bar and buffet line moving quickly, the Heights staff also sliced and served our cake. Tables were cleared away quickly and they made sure the head table had enough appetizers and drinks throughout the meal. I would also like to mention that we had some older guests in attendance who were well accommodated with the venue’s elevators, wide doors, etc. Feedback from our guests was very positive on the food and how well the space worked for our reception. It was almost 90 degrees the day of our reception so everyone was very happy to be inside in air conditioning.

Overall, we felt the Heights met or exceeded all our expectations. We feel it was a great value, and we would gladly recommend this reception venue to others.

The food was incredible ! . The venue was quite affordable and we were able to decorate it so it became quite beautiful for our wedding reception/dance. Can't say enough about how good the food was . Would highly recommend this venue .

The food....AMAZING. We got a smoked pork, vegetarian dish and a Parmesan encrusted chicken breast. Our guests still are raving about how delicious it was and you get a very good amount of food. I actually got to sit down and eat and it was easily some of the best food I have had in my life.

The staff were very attentive, making sure me and my husband were well taken care of. They would bring us waters when we were looking dehydrated. My guests told me that the staff was amazing and helpful at every turn. The staff knew what they were doing, were very organized and very polite to all of my guests, they wanted to ensure that everyone was having an amazing time.

The venue, also amazing. We had about 155 guests that fit in one half of the hall space perfectly. We were able to set everything up the day before the wedding so we weren't stressed on our wedding day. Chad was very responsive to anything we were needing including tables, linens and made sure everything looked beautiful the day of.

We booked out wedding at The Heights about 8 months out from our wedding day. The first 7 months or so it was a bit challenging to get ahold of the Chad but the month before the wedding he would answer every call and email right away!

Overall I would highly recommend The Heights to anyone looking for a venue. If you like an amazing staff, food and venue this is the place for you! Chad was very kind and made sure that we were well taken care of!

Room was nice. They worked nice with us on arranging decorating. They handled the flow of the event nicely, but at times seemed short handed, mainly at the bar. Over all, the evening was a success.

Over all our experience was great! The service staff was great, and the food tasted good!

The only thing they could improve on is maybe a remodel of the reception rooms.

I would recommend Verona Banquet Center for your next big party!

The start of our planning was ok. Chad the owner I found out later responds to phone calls better then emails. I would have to email him about receiving my previous email. The actual venue is a standard banquet hall and it was nice that he let you do pretty much whatever you wanted as far as decor. When we went for our food tasting I was blown away. The food was AMAZING. Well, the day of, the chicken oscar was NOT good! We talked to him later and he told us he wasn't impressed with it either!! But still charged us full price!! He told me the week of I'd be getting a proposal but that didn't happen... I guess that's my fault for not following up, but I had a lot going on. The night of my parents were paying Chad and we went over $3,000 from what we thought the bill was going to be. Also, during the reception, the bartender was missing a lot of the time so clearly he didn't have a bar helper which my guests were not happy about.

There were good and bad things about working with Chad. Overall, the food was great and Chad is a good person. He can be very flexible when it come to the event timing, food, set-up, etc. The venue is nice and worked well for our reception. However, Chad can be very difficult to get a hold of and often does not respond to emails. The reception packet outline is outdated and everything ended up being a lot more expensive then we originally figured. The night of the reception, there was a bartender that got way too drunk. My husband wanted to throw him out, but he was in charge as Chad had already left for the night (which we did not know was going to be the case). When I reported this to Chad via email, he did not respond. Overall Chad does a great job catering and the food was great. I suggest staying on top of communication with Chad and making sure you clearly ask questions and get direct answers ahead of time so you don't have any surprises.

My negative experience is regarding approximately $180 (all in $20's) being taken out of a small rectangular leather turquoise purse from last night's wedding reception (July 23rd). My purse was mistakenly left unattended for about 15-20 minutes between 9:30 - 10 pm (the pictures were taken at 9:25) on the wooden podium located in the hallway on the side of the dance floor where the DJ's equipment was. My sister, her boyfriend, and myself took some quick photos in this hallway, and I set my purse down on this podium so it wouldn't be in the pictures. I forgot about it when I went back into the reception, but remembered it about 15-20 minutes later and went to get it. I didn't think to check its contents at the time, as it looked undisturbed, but when I went for my cash this afternoon, it was gone! This doesn't appear to be the first instance of theft that has ocurred at The Heights according to other reviews. I wouldn't recommend it for this very reason alone. Some of the staff here are obviously theives.

If you are looking for a venue that lacks professionalism, lacks communication from the General Manager, Sarah Muench, that lacks the ability to follow through, then The Heights is for you! We have had absolutely nothing but problems with Sarah and The Heights from day 1. I, as the bride was the one initiating all of the communication with Sarah. I also dealt with her being fashionably late to all appointments, or even canceling appointments as she forgot she had to get her hair done. I also, waited days on end to get my final invoice from her only to find out that she was at Brewer's game instead of giving my my invoice. That's fine that she has a personal life, as we all do, but part of being a manager is being professional and at least communicating to the couple that you are out of the office instead of ignoring the situation completely. As if this wasn't all enough to complain and be mad about, I walked in to my own reception on MY wedding day having absolutely no idea how the reception hall would look decorated. As Sarah waited until the last minute to finalize details of the wedding and sent me a text message tell me "I do this every weekend" when I asked her for pictures of my tables with the decor b/c the day of my wedding I still had yet to see anything from the reception hall. In the end we had a $500 video projector stolen the night of our reception. The DJ left it with Sarah that night as Sarah stated "it was a safe place to keep it." Also, being that it was only her and her staff members still there that night. How ironic that they are not responsible for lost or stolen items. I would absolutely never suggest anybody working with The Heights.
