They were great all around. They reached out with a very comprehensive questionnaire prior to the event, which included song ideas and requests I had not even thought to ask about. The MC/DJ at our event was very nice and performed the program well. I appreciated how they downloaded some of our less popular requests. Overall they were great to work with and were perfect for our event. No complaints and I would recommend to anyone!

I highly recommend The Honolulu DJ Company for weddings or other big events! They are a husband and wife duo that were awesome to work with throughout the whole wedding planning process. I really appreciated the attention to detail with our varying playlist and the timing of everything; from the background music when the guest arrived, our walk down the aisle, post vows, to our first dance. What's more is that they even worked with our hula performers and their set of music; which really brought the whole wedding together. After the wedding, more than a few guest complimented us on our DJ choice. Highly recommended!!

I hired Adam from the Honolulu DJ Company for my wedding this October. He was very nice and personable. He followed direction well and played everything we wanted. He really understood the music we liked. He was also the emcee for my event and he was flawless. My coordinator wrote the script to follow which he did to a "tee." He hyped up my crowd and kept them dancing on the dance floor for hours and no dead air time. I highly recommend The Honolulu DJ Company!

Our wedding was in June and Adam was very nice, he has a great voice and this put me at ease before the big day. However we just watched the video from the wedding reception and we were not pleased. 1) He pronounced so many of my family members and friends names wrong (80%) including my own name. It did not appear he practiced any of the script or even went over it ahead of time. When he announces my dad to come out for the father daughter dance he says my last name wrong. If you are charging $1000 to DJ a wedding you should take the time to at least learn how to pronounce the brides name correctly. 2) Another small complaint our videographer noticed was that he called the bouquet toss the bridal toss, it is in our video and I agree it is kind of funny. Luckily nobody tossed me! : ) 3) I had a surprise dance planned for my husband we had sent the music instructing him to fade and change the song when I came on but he never did the dancer who went before me had to tell him to. He did a ok job but not a professional wedding DJ job. I noticed the mess up on my dance song on my wedding night, which totally threw me off as I had practiced with the song I choose.

I didn’t want to write a bad review but when I just saw the wedding video I felt a duty to give feedback. I would recommend Adam having me fill out the script for the wedding before he met with me so I could have helped him with pronunciation of names instead he focused more on learning my music style and had me fill out a worksheet for that.

I wish I would have had my friend DJ and MC instead of hiring a "professional". When it is your wedding reception you will let everything go so it won’t matter but if you see the video later you will want to see that the time was taken on your special day. On a positive note I did give him two stars because the music was good.

    The Honolulu DJ Company's reply:

    Aloha Malia,
Thanks again for choosing The Honolulu DJ Company for your wedding. We’re sorry to hear that, after watching your wedding video, you were not happy about how we pronounced some of the names in your wedding party. This is one of the reasons why we always recommend that our clients send us their scripts a minimum of two weeks in advance. We received your script the day before your wedding, and the finalized version on the morning of the event. This made it very difficult to memorize everything in time, and I’m sorry we didn’t get all of the pronunciations correct. As far as your dance, unfortunately, we simply couldn’t see you, as we were set up on the complete opposite side from where you were dancing. And to make matters worse, you were in a dark area (probably because you were doing a fire dance), and we were under the tent, with the lights in our eyes, making it nearly impossible to see you from where we were. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the music, everyone looked to be having a wonderful time. Thank you for meeting with us so we could get to know your musical preferences. We also appreciate you taking your time to give us feedback, as it will help us be better prepared should we run into similar situations in the future. Wishing you all the best,
Adam & Lauren from The Honolulu DJ Company
