The Houstonian was truly the perfect wedding venue. The meadow is a beautiful space that feels so nestled into nature it's hard to believe it's you're still properly in Houston. The ballrooms are beautiful as well, but it's really the staff and service that makes the Houstonian a stand out. Every person we encountered the entire weekend was thoughtful, kind, and made us feel so welcome.
The food was incredible - 6 weeks out and we're still getting compliments. I am a vegetarian, and Joan and her team made sure that I had something to eat at every station, and were so accommodating.
I cannot say enough praises for the Houstonian and their entire team. Having everything all in one space, from getting ready to the ceremony, reception, afterparty, and even a place for everyone to stay took so much stress off of us and our whole wedding party. I cannot recommend the Houstonian highly enough. Staying there at least once a year will now become a part of our married life.

Wow! What a spectacular reception! Everyone at The Houstonian was a joy to work with, beginning with Evangelia who made our daughter's hopes of a lovely reception into a beautiful reality. The service is unmatched; no request seemed too difficult. The grounds, the ballroom, the pools, the spa, and the lobby are all so timelessly beautiful. The Houstonian is a gorgeous, gracious resort in the middle of downtown Houston. Our out of town guests had a wonderful time. So did we!

Evangelia is an angel who makes wedding dreams come true. We got married in their beautiful meadow under the grandest live oak in Texas -- everyone gushed about what a perfect setting we had for our ceremony. The branches are so majestic that the lit tree still sparkles in the daytime and the wow factor at night is beyond compare. We were planning our wedding in just 2 months from out of state and Evangelia made every step of the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible. She's a bright smile calming a stressful event. In addition to the ceremony, we had all of our out of state guests stay at The Houstonian and it was fantastic. Even though the grounds are massive, it has a family lodge feel where everyone working there is happy to attend to your every need. We had all of our breakfasts at Olivette which was accommodating with large portions. Room service was prompt and delicious and every guest room felt like it was nestled in the trees. I highly recommend splurging for the Capital Suite on your wedding night -- it was ideal for first look pictures and was a great place to keep the party going well into the night. Lastly, The Houstonian proved the perfect place to say, "I DO" -- beauty, class, attention to detail, fulfillment of vision -- I can't wait to return every April 30th for an anniversary stay!

I had my wedding reception at the Houstonian, and everything was amazing from the start of the planning process to the end of the reception. I worked with Amanda, and she is extremely friendly, organized, and knowledgeable. She made wedding planning stress free and fun. While the prices may seem steep at first, the wedding package includes A LOT. Included in the package is a wedding cake, hotel room for the bride and groom after the reception, bride and groom dressing rooms, and a lot of basic decorations (candles, etc.). There is also a banquet manager onsite for the reception who helps with timing, logistics, and ensuring everything goes smoothly. You truly don't need an additional wedding coordinator because the Houstonian does so much. The facility is absolutely beautiful, and having a hotel onsite is a huge plus for out of town guests. The food is also phenomenal...it was so hard to narrow down our menu choices. I would recommend the Houstonian to any Houston bride!

The Houstonian was the perfect venue in every way! Evangelia is an absolute pleasure and so sweet and accommodating in every single way. The food at the wedding is still being talked about - and this was very important to all of us! The staff at the Houstonian throughout the evening was incredibly attentive and helpful. I am so glad we chose the Houstonian, a life event happened at a place so near and dear.

We had our wedding reception in the Grande Ballroom at the Houstonian and worked with Evangelia. The wedding was absolutely perfect. We were blown away by the Houstonian's service every step of the way. They want everything to be great just as much as you do. This means that sometimes they might be hesitant to try something new because they want to be sure they'll be great at it. Everything we requested turned out great! We really enjoyed the tasting and it made us decide to eat dinner with all of our guests rather than in a private room. The food was fantastic and service was great all night! Overall, so pleased with the Houstonian and loved working with people who do this every weekend and truly have it down. Made everything a breeze!

The professionals at the Trellis Spa were excellent. Hair, make up , toes and fingers were all beautiful. They accommodated a bridal party of eight (including me, the bride) without a miss step.
A very special shout out to Brittany, our event coordinator at The Manor House! Her skills, concern and assistance were invaluable. Thanks to her and her awesome staff, our wedding and reception were perfect

The Houstonian was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding. Jim Gray and his assistant Breanna were a dream to work with. They were quick with their responses and accommodated us with everything we wanted. We got so many conpliments on the beauty of the venue, the excellence of the food and drinks, and the quality of service. I would definitely recommend The Houstonian to everyone!!!! Thank you to Jim and Breanna for making our day so special!!!

The Houstonian was the perfect venue to have our reception at. Although it is in the middle of Houston the surrounding woods make it seem more secluded. We worked with Jim Gray and he was absolutely wonderful. There is not enough praise that we could give him, he truly ensured our day was perfect. He was in contact with us through every step of the wedding planning process and truly went above and beyond in giving advice about vendors, helping us decide on our menu, and how to best present our venue. We loved working with him and The Houstonian, we highly recommend the Houstonian as a venue and working with Jim Gray!

The Houstonian is a spectacular place to have your wedding reception. When we first met with The Houstonian wedding coordinator; Evangelia, there was no doubt we wanted to host our reception here. Evangelia is very professional, responsive and friendly. The Houstonian provided top notch service. The staff made sure not just the bride and groom, but our guests were taken care of too. The food was excellent, we had the filet mignon and lobster as entree. We could not have imagined hosting our wedding reception anywhere else in Houston.

The Houstonian was absolutely amazing to work with. They are the most organized venue out there. Jim is so experienced and knows every detail that goes into the wedding process. I am so happy with how everything turned out and we did not have a single problem, which is pretty unheard of.

I can't find a single negative thing to say about the Houstonian! What a perfect venue to have your wedding. The service was impeccable and we loved working with Jim Gray there. They are SUPER organized and run weddings like clock work as far as scheduling your tasting, placing your event order, communicating with your planner if you hire one, and executing the actual wedding flawlessly! We knew that the Houstonian was a great hotel and has a wonderful reputation, but there were some things that made our wedding really perfect on the weekend:
* Outside property - Even though we did not get married outside (which you can), if you pick the right time of year, the property around the hotel is magnificent. We have beautiful "First Look" and bridal party pictures outside!
* Food is better than almost any place you will find. Not only the quality of the food, but the service. They won't serve during speeches and wanted to know how many speeches we would have so that they could time the food perfectly and come out hot. They certainly do not do this at every venue.
* Before the reception, they had my husband and I sit behind the fireplace where they served us 4 of each appetizer we would have at the cocktail hour and had a personal server with us all night to get us drinks. It was so nice and we really appreciated the special time together before the reception.
* Aside from Jim being excellent at his job, he went above and beyond when he had champagne and strawberries waiting in our hotel room (which he had upgraded us to the Presidential Suite as well)!

All I can say is that I hope my husband and I can go back there for anniversaries because the experience at The Houstonian is great every time and we are very thankful that we choose to have our wedding here!

There is only one word that summarizes The Houstonian - AMAZING! Jim Gray and his staff are the best in the business and really go the extra yard to make your wedding beautiful and the experience perfect. From the first time we met with Jim to the night of the wedding, we were blown away by how responsive and detail-oriented he was. We had looked at a lot of other venues before signing at The Houstonian, and Jim and the staff here were the main thing that stood out here. We knew that the way they treated us was the way they would treat our guests.

The night before the wedding, I stayed at the hotel with my mom and sister. Jim had a cheese and fruit plate and a bottle of wine sent up for us to enjoy. Also, on the night of the wedding, the bride and groom get a complimentary room on the concierge level. Jim had a bottle of champagne on ice waiting for us and chocoloate covered strawberries!

Throughout the night of the wedding, the wait staff was so attentive to not only us but our guests. There were plenty of passed hors devours for the guests, and they were all delicious. The salad and main course was perfectly presented and tasty. Definitely worth the price!

It goes without saying that the Houstonian is going to come with its own sense of perfection and style, regardless of what kind of party you are planning there. As for my own reception, it was far from ordinary (couch dinner seating, casino rooms, candle lit hallways, & water wall entrances) and Jim Gray was MORE than willing to make my every last dream reality. I can't say enough about the staff, the food, the all around customer service, not to mention the hotel itself. If you are looking for a reception location that will have everyone walking away in awe.... don't think to look any further. Let Jim Gray and his team make the most of your budget and give you more than you ever could expect from a hotel reception!

I couldn't have had my reception at a more relaxing and professional venue. The food was amazing and my guests loved staying there! The spa is fabulous and they are so accomodating.

This was a wonderful place to deal with. They were friendly, helpful and accomidating. They offered discount room rates for people staying at the hotel. Everything was taken care of and I had nothing to worry about except enjoying my wedding reception. The food was WONDERFUL!!!

It was a pleasure working with Jim Gray in planning my daughter's wedding. Everything was perfect and all of the hotel personnel were exceptionally helpful to our out of town guests.

Not cheap, but you absolutely get what you pay for, the service was unbelievable, the staff was attentive and accommodating, and the venue was beautiful.

The Houstonian Hotel could not be a more perfect wedding venue. The staff is incredible, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful. The food is delicious. The only issue we had was a little "hiccup" with a particular staff member, but everyone else more than made up for this individual. We were really pleased with our experience, and highly recommend this venue to future brides!

The Houstonian was the perfect backdrop to our wedding. We held the wedding and the reception here as well as had all of our guests stay here. It is the perfect location for out of town guests and even people within the city. Evangelia was so incredibly helpful in making sure our day was perfect and it truly was!

I loved having our reception at the Houstonian!! The staff (especially Evangelia & Dianora) were excellent and the banquet captain on the night of was so professional. I really enjoyed everyone we worked with and thought they took care of things very professionally. The food was also EXCELLENT which I was so pleased with since we were planning from out of town and wasn't able to do a tasting. I also think most wedding food is just so-so and considered the Houstonian food to be surprisingly delicious!
I would whole-heartedly recommend them!

The Houstonian (Evangelia) did a beautiful job planning and executing my wedding reception. Everything was a breeze on my special day, and the service was top notch. Evangelia greeted me the moment I arrived and even helped me bustle my dress. It's a comfort to have a place like the Houstonian taking care of your special day when there are so many details to keep track of. I recommend them without hesitation.

Great venue for a wedding with a lot of out of town guests. We had both our outdoor ceremony and reception on-site.

The Houstonian staff are pros at planning weddings - which is a good and bad thing. They know how to execute efficiently and professionally, but they do so using the exact same template that's probably been around for a long time. I didn't feel like there was much optionality or flexibility on things and it sometimes felt like any little extra or "out of the box" request was a HUGE deal or hard to do. The banquets staff were awesome. Both the groom and I had a waiter assigned to us, which was very thoughtful.

I wouldn't change my decision to have the wedding there for a second. It was the perfect location to ensure that our out of town guests had a enjoyable weekend - and they did!

I would recommend that the Houstonian update their linens. For such a lovely venue, these items are a little run-down looking. We had initially thought we could use theirs (because we just wanted a simple cream), but ended up bringing our own in.
