Could not have asked for a better wedding day! Elizabeth made planning very enjoyable and so easy. Very accommodating to what the bride and groom envision for their wedding day and works with your budget. The venue is breathtaking, I highly recommend The Lancaster at St. Clair!!

Robbie and Elizabeth have been great to work with. Sara, Executive Chef, was so accommodating at our tasting. I would just tell others looking at the venue to feel open to ask for changes and express what they want. Originally, the cost of the rental was too much for us; so, we asked Robbie to work with us for a time which was less expensive. I believe I could have decreased some costs if I had used local caterers, bakery and florists. But, the convenience of having it all coordinated through Elizabeth is well worth the extra expense. I have full faith that Michaelis Events will make everything fabulous.

Given the area, this would be my first choice. To have a beautiful venue accompanied by professional people that will go the extra mile for you is priceless on a special day when you want nothing to go wrong.. My last minute event for 100 people turned out a success when they stepped in and took over after one visit. One would have thought I planned for months. Awesome experience, great food and atmosphere. I will be back soon.

Denise and her staff were very easy to work with and I would highly recommend them for any event. We had a reception at The Lancaster and it was perfect! We were all impressed with the beautiful location. They spent a lot of time and effort to restore that building! Although we didn't use it for a wedding venue, I could envision it as an ideal location for the wedding and reception all in one. The catering staff was also exceptional. Thank you Denise for a wonderful event!

The service was great! This was a very last minute event and all of those involved were able to meet our needs. I would recommend to anyone.

loved this place its beautiful and elegant, just had a nice atmosphere and lots of room. Emily made it all happen and come together. Ask for her if you want your wedding to be perfect. I cant forget Kelly, what a wonderful person and was always there to help with anything you needed.

The venue was very cold during the rehearsal and the day of the wedding! I’m not sure what happened but the mobile heater was not enough to warm the place that’s the only complain I have.

    An O.K Experience

It was kind of hard to set up a meeting with them and get a response. Once we did set up a meeting, it seemed like the women showing us around was in a hurry and didnt know too much about Venue. The place was nice though! Had a beautiful outdoor area!

    Nice venue, poor management

Management is only concerned about getting their money.

Felt like they had not hosted a wedding before

Note: Disregard old reviews. New ownership began in 2019.
Summary: The Elizabeth is owned by a lady who is very nice and friendly (in person) and is incredibly hard-working. I admire her work ethic. Unfortunately, it felt like our wedding was too much of a task for the capabilities of her team and worse that she was too busy to make time for us.
    Pros:
-Absolutely Beautiful Building. Our pictures are absolutely stunning. We love the stain glass and everything about the architecture
-Freedom. The Elizabeth has many tables and chairs that can be arranged as desired (they set up exactly as we instructed). We had chairs in rows and then changed over to tables and chairs for our reception.
-Frankfort is a nice town. there were cool bars and ice cream shops for guests to explore between our ceremony and reception
    Cons:
-Need rain plan. It was important to us to have an indoor wedding so that we did not have to worry about a rain plan. However, when we were finally putting together the run-down of our ceremony we realized there is really only one big room and so there were no good places to hide the Bride or have people wait during change-over. We ended up using a folding wall divider and just letting the wedding party be seen gathered in the back. But it was a lot of stress and planning to get there.
-Communication Issues. A lady named Tracey handles communication for the Elizabeth on behalf of the owner. We would get relatively prompt and helpful emails from her. It took weeks after multiple emails and calls to hear anything from the actual owner. And unfortunately there can be disconnects between the two. We were specifically told that there was an ice machine we could use and not to worry about bringing our own ice. However, the kitchen is small and catering staff (caterer is the owner of The Elizabeth) snapped at and shooed away our family. We understand now why it did not make sense for us to get ice out of their machine, but it did not change the fact that we were up a creek without a paddle because they told us they would provide the paddle and we should not bring one. Also, the day before the wedding there were weeds and the Bride's father politely joked if they would take care of it or if we should put the groomsmen to work. We received a very sassy text later that day saying it would be taken care of and that absolutely no discounts would be given. (we never once mentioned asking for a discount.)
-AC was not turned on in advance. A large building like the Elizabeth takes a long time to cool and we were verbally told that AC would be turned on that morning so that it would be 72 degrees when guests arrived. According to our set up crew it was 82 when they got there, as people arrived it got to 87 at a high and was never lower than 85 even as the sun went down. this was the single worst experience from our wedding. the minister literally had sweat dripping down his nose during the ceremony, my now-wife's dress stuck to her sweaty legs so she could barely walk, and a retired firefighter had to leave before he even got his meal.
-Expensive. This venue charges a premium fee and does not provide premium value. The prices are not all-inclusive. Fair warning, you will be burdened with fees for set-up, clean-up, change-over, event insurance, and liquor liability insurance. If you want to do your rehearsal there, you will be charged for a separate event booking (we obviously did not do this). We continually felt nickel and dimed (or Benjamined and Granted!).
    Summary:
Our wedding ended up absolutely amazing. We are so happy with the photos we got, the dancing, the bar, the DJ, I could go on and on. It really was a beautiful wedding. But the Elizabeth was a unpleasant to deal with before the wedding and had issues to be dealt with throughout the day of.
