    This was our reception center, it was very spacious and beautiful, there was a place where the catering people could set up the food and they had integrated speaker systems and a dance floor. Best value for the money, especially in Oregon.

    The hawthorn room was exactly what I was looking for in a venue. The room itself is gorgeous with its wood beams, many windows, fire place...ect. I had both my ceremony and reception here. We flipped the room after the ceremony, and there is enough space to do this easily and quickly. The event coordinator was extremely helpful and answered the millions of emails that I sent about tiny random details that kept popping up. This venue is also affordable and a great option for those on somewhat or a budget (like myself and my husband). We really appreciated the professionalism and friendliness of the entire staff. The only thing that was slightly complicated is parking, there can be a bit of a walk depending on how many people you have coming. Warning guests ahead of time, especially for older folks, is a good idea. Overall this venue is fabulous and so is the staff. I would definitely recommend them.

    The Hawthorn Room at Mt. Park Recreation Center is beautiful!!!! I wanted a ceremony/reception location with a Pacific Northwest look & feel and this was perfect. The rates are very reasonable. The facility was clean and had plenty of space for our event. The event manager was fantastic to work with and they had purchased new chairs & tables a couple of months before our wedding which worked out great. We needed to transition the room from ceremony seating to reception tables & chairs it went really smoothly -- we even had some staff unexpectedly help out! We would recommend this facility to anyone for many types of events.

    The Hawthorne room was a beautiful place for my wedding, I was pleased with the venue and glad I had chosen it. They have a built in sound system which was very convenient for plugging a computer into it and playing our wedding playlist as opposed to having a DJ. They have all the tables and chairs necessary so you don't have to worry about renting them. The only cons I had were that when setting everything up for the room rental, the staff was unclear on certain things. And when it came time to clean everything up at the end of the day they were a little too picky on what we needed to clean such as left over paper towels in the bathroom when it had been used all day by members of the club and not just the wedding party and guests. also we brought in our own beer and wine that we had gone out and purchased and the staff expected us to leave the cans and bottles for them to recycle and weren't too willing to let us take them back to turn them into recycling ourselves.

    Friday night had the venue from 5pm-7pm to set up the decorations & have a rehearsal. When we arrived, we were stopped at the door telling us we could not bring anything inside the venue. We were informed that the lady that set up all the details of the wedding was on vacation & she didn't leave any details of the wedding so we couldn't go in. After talking with them for 45 minutes, they finally allowed it, which only gave us a little over an hour to decorate & rehearse. Also,, they were just plain rude. The next day we show up to start getting ready & our caterer showed up shortly after. The caterer, is a food cart & we were told that he would be able to set the food cart up at the venue so he could cook live for everybody. The lady at the the front desk told us he was not going to be allowed to bring the food cart up (even though it was approved). We asked if he could just cook in the parking lot & then bring the food up to the venue. She said no. She said he could park behind the building (really far away from the venue), cook out there, and then bring all the food in. She also mentioned that the only way for him to get in is through an employee door & she wouldn't give him a key so somebody was going to have to stand & hold the door open so they could make all their trips up & down to get to the venue. We told her that we felt that was really extreme, She told us that it was ridiculous that we thought people in their company shouldn't be allowed to go on vacation or have babies and that they should just spend all their time catering to the event. It was very clear that there was NO way she was going to compromise so the catering part of the wedding was ruined. The worst part is that my daughter-in-law was just about to put her dress on when she got a call from my son letting her know this. She will never get that moment back.
    During the wedding, there was a security guard that kept coming in & out of the venue. He took a large plate of steak and took beer.
