Wedding venue of dreams
My husband and I were finally able to have our wedding at the Polo Barn at Saxony Farm on October 2 after two postponements. First, the venue’s owners, Rosie and Broussard Hundley, are thoughtful and proud owners, and their dedication to making it the best experience for their couples is apparent. When it became clear in March 2020 that we would be unable to have our wedding on our original date of April 25, 2020, we reached out to them to ask about postponement options. They could not have been more accommodating and understanding in allowing us to reschedule to a highly desirable date, despite the fact that doing so came at their expense financially. We’ve heard horror stories from other couples with respect to postponements, whether being offered only highly undesirable dates and/or having to pay a significant premium. Rosie and Broussard had no contractual obligation at the time to allow us to postpone for free, or at all, but exhibited utmost compassion and grace during a stressful and upsetting time for us, and we couldn’t be more grateful.
In addition to just being good people, they’re professionals. Throughout our 2.5 year relationship with Rosie and Broussard, they were consistently punctual in responding to our many questions and concerns, making our and our wonderful planner’s (Angela Sallee) lives substantially easier, which in light of the circumstances was much appreciated. As the big day finally approached, they walked us through how the weekend would go (for a third time) and helped put our minds at ease, such as explaining the COVID precautions that they are taking to keep guests safe and what they would do to make the wedding go as smoothly as possible in the event of inclement weather (which fortunately was not an issue, as we had perfect weather the whole weekend).
The venue itself is a truly stunning property, both on the farm, where we had our welcome party and ceremony, and in the barn, where we had our reception. The grounds are immaculate and as a working farm, you get to experience what makes Kentucky truly special – the horses. I'm originally from Lexington and my husband from New York. We wanted to give our many out of town guests a uniquely Kentucky experience, and the Polo Barn fit the bill perfectly. Our guests were blown away when they got off of the busses at the farm and when they walked into the barn itself for the reception. We had to have received 100 compliments over the course of the weekend on our choice of venue.
A big part of the reason that we chose the Polo Barn was that you have access to the venue for the entire weekend. Rather than having to plan our welcome party elsewhere, we were able to host it on the farm just outside of the barn. We wanted to avoid having the welcome party feel like a second wedding, and the venue was highly conducive to achieving this goal. It’s also inclusive of a “cottage” (which is more spacious than the name may indicate) for the bridal party to get ready in. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated with personal touches from the farms history. It includes a mancave for the guys, which my husband loved (and now wants one for our house!). The cottage is a fun place to hang out and calm some nerves before guests arrive.
Overall, we couldn’t recommend the Polo Barn more. The Polo Barn helped make our wedding day perfect. They were accommodating, Rosie was available if I had questions, and the location is beautiful. They've recently redone the inside of the barn, so it is now open and has 3 iron chandeliers hanging from the wood beams along with a concrete floor. I loved how close it is to downtown Lexington, but you still get the nice farm wedding with horses and all.The Polo Barn helped make our wedding day perfect. So excited to have this venue booked! Rosie and her husband are so good at what they do. This place is a blank canvas with very little restrictions on outside vendors which is always a plus!So excited to have this venue booked! Rosie and her husband are so good at what they do. The venue was absolutely amazing. If you want a picturesque wedding with the beautiful thoroughbred country side, this is the place to be. Or if you just want an outstanding outdoor location, this is also your place. With various ceremony and reception location ideas and various backdrops, you could not be disappointed. Very helpful from start to finish and just the most respectable and professional people to work with. The venue was absolutely amazing. Working with Rosie and Broussard to hold our wedding at the Polo Barn at Saxony Farm was truly a dream come true! They go above and beyond to help you bring your visualization to life and Rosie is incredibly responsive throughout the planning process for all of those brides (like myself) with a million questions. The venue itself is just beautiful! You can't find a location that is truly more "Kentucky" than at Saxony Farm. The Bridal Cottage and Man Cave were perfect accommodations for our wedding party and, as an anxious bride, it was great being able to see the venue come to life throughout the day. I can't say enough great things about Rosie, Broussard and the rest of the staff at the Polo Barn at Saxony Farm!Working with Rosie and Broussard to hold our wedding at the Polo Barn at Saxony Farm was truly a dream come true!
