Fine New York Catering with a Comfortable Touch

The amazing thing about The Raging Skillet is that while it has all of the flavor and skill that you'd get from a giant corporate catering company, it's actually a more local and personal experience. Chef Rossi knows her stuff. She's got great people skills—which means from just a few short (and cheery!) conversations, she could quickly garner what we actually wanted from our catering in terms of personality. Her love of food and attention detail came through with every bite—and the compliments were rolling in all night long. In a city that's famous for its great food, Chef Rossi and the Raging Skillet somehow went beyond expectations.

Working with Chef Rossi and her team for our wedding was an absolute dream. Chef Rossi is so easy to work with, personable, and kind. Chef did an amazing job catering to all of our needs and was so supportive incorporating recipes near and dear to us from loved ones. The whole team was responsive, professional, and hands down just amazing! Everyone was raving about the food!! Thank you so much Chef Rossi and the whole team! 10/10 recommend!!

Beyond delicious!

Chef Rossi’s catered my ‘non-wedding’ wedding (aka informal wedding celebration) and the food was superb front to back! She took the time to map out a menu that met our eclectic taste and the result was stupendous! Highlights included the beef skewers, lord-have-mercy, the grilled shrimp 🤤! We’re extremely grateful to have had Chef Rossi on board! And I would be remiss if I didn’t shout out the desert board—holy smokes, the salty brownie was easily among the best I’ve ever tasted! Thank you, Chef Rossi!

People kept raving about the food, and they were super accommodating about all of the possible dietary restrictions you could imagine that we needed to consider. As a plus, each interaction with Chef Rossi is such a delight. My only regret is not getting a picture with her at the wedding itself!

A Dream Caterer!

I can't say enough about how thankful we are to Chef Rossi for creating the wedding menu of our dreams! We took a minute to warm to Rossi, thinking other vendors had a more "set" way of doing things that would be easier for us. How little did we know. Chef Rossi and her team are true pros who have been doing this for 20+ years and it shows. From the start, she was very clear and firm about what we'd need in terms of staff and support, while also being game for all of our wild menu ideas. In the end, she created a tiny Jewish deli for us in hors d'oeuvres form - pierogis, chicken liver, tofu...

I can't say enough about how thankful we are to Chef Rossi for creating the wedding menu of our dreams! Chef Rossi and her team are true pros who have been doing this for 20+ years and it shows. From the start, she was very clear and firm about what we'd need in terms of staff and support, while also being game for all of our wild menu ideas. In the end, she created a tiny Jewish deli for us in hors d'oeuvres form - pierogis, chicken liver, tofu reubens, white borscht, and more. Our mains were Caribbean-leaning - chutney, arroz con gandules, tropical salad among them. She even made a mumbo sauce chicken to honor my husband's DC roots. There is no other vendor who could handle a menu this eclectic and personal. At every point in the process she met us where we were at and found ways to turn our ideas into reality. The day of the wedding, Rossi and her catering manager Charmaine made everything run smooth as butter - and made truly the most beautiful catering setup we'd ever seen. The food exceeded all expectations - weeks later, we're still hearing raves. My Ukrainian mother said Rossi's chicken liver rivaled her own (words I've never heard from her in my life). My husband and I literally split the mumbo sauce chicken left over for us into smaller and smaller bites for the whole week after because we couldn't part with it. Chef Rossi even left a bottle of the sauce for us on our couples table. I can't say enough about how wonderful Rossi and Charmaine were to us. If you have a chance to have her cater for you, don't hesitate - jump in and you'll never look back.

Stop searching and book Raging Skillet

We had very specific needs because of the groom’s allergies—soy and nuts are in literally everything! When we presented this challenge to Chef Rossi and her team her eyes lit up and she said “I love a challenge!” And boy did she! Chef Rossi created the perfect menu that was not only completely safe for the groom but also interesting, flavorful, and the perfect combination of foods we both love. Chef Rossi is a true genius!

I cannot give Chef Rossi enough praise! She is truly amazing at what she does and how she executes her amazing food. She listens, learns and produces such fun and delicious foods. I’m the Mother of the Bride with a crazy uncommon food allergy… and once told, Chef Rossi took it upon her self to research and learn and made such delicious foods that I was able to enjoy! Not only was I impressed but our 180 guests raved as well! There’s a reason she is the best of the best! Don’t think twice… just hire her! You won’t regret it!

A refreshing and fabulous take on what wedding food should be!

Chef Rossi transcends stereotypical wedding cuisine by focusing on creativity, personalization, and FUN. The Raging Skillet team are total pros when it comes to the nontraditional and making sure that you can customize your menu and experience to exactly how you envision it. We hosted a continuous cocktail style party, meaning a variety of small passed plates for both cocktail hour and dinner, and it was an absolute hit. We received so many compliments from our guests saying how the casual/fun style was totally refreshing and kept things exciting. Everyone loved each bite and we are so glad we had the opportunity to work with Chef Rossi & the RS team!

Amazing and Creative Food/Team!!!

We LOVED The Raging Skillet. Chef Rossi and Charmaine are incredibly kind, funny, and creative. They put together a Floating Supper and Grazing Table for our 145 guests that kept everyone full and excited. Our guests loved our cocktail hour's bacon and peanut butter sandwiches, bbq pork on a ritz, sweet potato latkes, to name a few. They even created toasted ravioli as a tribute to my husband's St. Louis hometown. The passed entrees (pasta, fish and meat) were all so tasty and able to be eaten standing or sitting. And the small desserts were perfect! S'mores pops, key lime pies, etc.! Charmaine checked in on us throughout the evening - made sure we and our families were fed!...

Chef Rossi, Charmaine, and the rest of the Raging Skillet team were downright wonderful for our wedding this June - I can’t recommend them enough! And the stress on the Big Day is even worse because you and your s/o want everything to go right. Working with The Raging Skillet was an absolute dream. Charmaine and Chef Rossi both played integral roles in making the day run smoothly; it was absolutely perfect. Everyone kept coming up to my husband and I throughout the reception to tell us how phenomenal the food was (a friend even told me that she had struggled to find what she considered to be good coffee the entire week of her stay, and was delighted that the coffee served...

There's a lot of things to worry about and stress over as part of wedding planning; that much is a given. Charmaine and Chef Rossi both played integral roles in making the day run smoothly; it was absolutely perfect. Everyone kept coming up to my husband and I throughout the reception to tell us how phenomenal the food was (a friend even told me that she had struggled to find what she considered to be good coffee the entire week of her stay, and was delighted that the coffee served dessert time was what she had been looking for).

I was worried that there would be details that slip through the cracks because this was my first time planning a wedding; I didn't know what I didn't know! But Charmaine, the catering director, was so knowledgeable and so helpful. She was a huge contributor to the reason why our wedding day ran smoothly. Even when asked questions outside the scope of catering and furniture setup (mostly because we didn't know WHO we should direct these questions to), she was never one to say "I'm sorry, that's not my job, please go ask someone else." If she didn't know the answer, chances are she would know someone who would be able to help. My mother could not stop telling Charmaine how wonderful she was throughout the day, and she's not usually one to do that!

All in all, if you're looking for a caterer for your big day, look no further than The Raging Skillet. The food is phenomenal, the people who worked with us were phenomenal. We could not have asked for a better/more perfect wedding day.

You Ate How Much?!

The food was superb! All my guest raved about each Hors D'oeuvre and recounted how many they ate! I had a buffet of several outstanding main dishes. A filet mignon that you only need a fork to cut, outrageous barbecued salmon and a delicious vegan option. I would recommend Chef Rossi and her team for an unforgetable wedding experience!

MY BIGGEST ADVICE: If you care about pricing, please have Chef Rossi provide everything in writing / make sure the type of meat(s) you want are also in writing, and I would advise you to get a list of the rental items she will require in writing as well. The more you have in writing the easier your life will be down the road.

The main course was not bad - I like that Chef Rossi gives options to people of choosing between several dishes as she passes it around (instead of having to decide weeks in advance when they rsvp). The salmon and filet were both flavorful but wanted to note that the filet was pre sliced and not served whole, which is something I have never seen before and was not expecting. It was a smaller portion than I expected. The desserts were also great - the oreo crack and sea salt brownies in particular are delicious.

The bad:

1) everything is piecemeal. Other caterers give a flat price for everything (like alcohol, rentals, and mixers/chasers). Chef Rossi charges separately for everything, so while her price seems competitive upfront, note you may end up paying much more than the estimates she provides. I recommend getting in writing from her a list of all the rentals she will need.

2) Some glitches with the service. Tables were in wrong place despite clear instructions. See attachment for email I sent with instructions on tables.

And some people did not have water. We had to remind the maitre d and then she remedied the situation.

Talented Team and Badass Food

I've always had good food at the weddings I've been to. But I didn't know that wedding food could be BADASS.
I started to see how creative and cool Chef Rossi was when I perused the "Sample Menus" section of the Raging Skillet website. These menus were diverse, kooky, fun, but also...really sounded delicious.
After I tried some Rossi bites at an open house event (the best tuna tartare I've ever had served on a Ruffles potato chip--what?!), I was hooked. When we started working with Chef Rossi, we sent her a mega list of foods we liked, and she found a fun way to work in our favorite foods in unexpected ways--for example, I had pop tarts on...

When we started working with Chef Rossi, we sent her a mega list of foods we liked, and she found a fun way to work in our favorite foods in unexpected ways--for example, I had pop tarts on our list (I know, embarrassing), and she ended up serving homemade mini pop-tarts as a part of our mind-blowing dessert station. The passed appetizers were a zany array of my favorite foods, and the dinner (served family-style) was definitely a notch up from most wedding dinners I've been served. And the best part of evening for me were the mini milkshakes passed around during dessert--I even left the dance floor to get one.
Chef Rossi has magic at her fingertips. And every single person on her team was kind and so good at their job. Shoutout to Catering Director Charmaine--that woman gets things DONE. Charmaine is efficient but thoughtful at the same time. She came out to say hi during dinner, and I was touched by the fact that she wore blue--same color as my bridal party and all the decorations.
I know that the Raging Skillet does a lot of weddings, but I really felt like mine was special. And that's what you want, right? Oh, and you also want tuna tartare on potato chips.

Chef Rossi and her team absolutely crushed it for our wedding. When we met her for a consultation, we felt like we had struck gold. She made us feel like we were guests in the kitchen of her own home, serving us samples and taking us through what to expect with her and her team as our caterer. They 100% delivered. From that meeting, up until our wedding, Chef Rossi was very flexible in helping us figure out exactly what we wanted on our eclectic menu. Communicating with her was extremely easy. Chef Rossi is my hero - working with her and her team was truly wonderful experience. She's got a great sense of humor, keeps cool and calm but also on top of every detail. Her food is very photogenic, but more importantly, tastes amazing. She's able to create a menu customized for cultural preferences, and add her own cool twists when needed. If you want a creative wedding menu, this is your team!

We really didn't want a seated dinner, but we weren't sure how we were going to feed our guests enough food if we didn't do something traditional. Chef Rossi and Charmaine worked with us to create a fun menu filled with great food our family and friends would love. They did passed apps for 2 hours, then we provided pizzas that they passed around. It was amazing. They food was spectacular, and Chef Rossi was always honest with us about how much food we needed and what kind of food we needed (our first menu had almost no veg or gluten free options and she worked with us to make sure there was enough food for all dietary needs)....

Dream Wedding Brunch!

TRS is wonderful! Very personable, experienced and professional. Chef Rossi is so open to ideas and flexible. The teams energy is infectious. My guests can't stop talking about our food! Loved working with them and would definitely recommend them to others!

Amazing Food!!!

My guests have been raving to me about the food from my wedding. We were able to customize our menu. Chef Rossi can make just about anything. So...we had Southern Comfort food for the hors d'oeuvres like mini chicken n' waffles and had a veggie option for the entrees. Since we had a fall wedding, Chef Rossi created mini pumpkin and apple pies.
