Easy to work with & great value
We originally planned to have our daughter’s wedding ceremony and reception outdoors on family land, but working with the tent rental companies proved to be frustrating, fraught with attitude, and ultimately comparable in price to some venues. Therefore we scheduled visits with a few area locations. Most were very pretty and managed by nice people, but the Robinshaw stood out on multiple levels.
As the father of the bride (just as in the movie) the expenses of a wedding are overwhelming. I want to bless my daughter and new son, but each ‘cha-ching’ prompts a tinge developed over 30 years of paying utilities and a mortgage. Talking with MOST venues feels like financial death by a thousand razor blades (fees). “Yes, we can provide an arch from storage, but it’s an extra $200”, or “we have 50 chairs included but additional are $x / will need to be rented through a suggested vendor.” Oh what a pleasant surprise working with the Robinshaw. It took three separate inquiries with three increasingly direct (and humorous) replies from Drew for me to apprehend, “It’s all included in the price; chairs inside, chairs outside, big tables or small tables, arch, cross, or fireplace - it’s ALL included in the price.”
Next, we genuinely enjoyed working with the owners. Just as there is a difference between eating at a restaurant or staying at a B&B managed by the owners versus a chain managed by a hireling, every venue we visited was seemingly run by an employee working on behalf of some distant investor. I don’t know that as fact, but the conversations with Drew and Joanie were significantly different than all other venues. Be honest, trustworthy, and respectful of their place and they will be the same; just as if someone was moving into your house for a few days.
Besides the great layout and wonderful groomsmen & bridal suites, the free access to the decorations room proved to be an incalculable blessing. Easels, candle holders, giant lanterns, stands, and more allowed us to decorate as simply or extravagantly as we wanted and it was all INCLUDED in the venue price.
I can go on for another 6 or 8 paragraphs about the incredible ease and speed of ‘flipping the space’ from indoor ceremony to reception, to positive comments by the DJ, caterer, and bar tender, but you get the idea. The Robinshaw was such a great venue for the ceremony and reception, and I would recommend everyone at least visit before settling on their final choice.
