    I loved my dress

    Working with the ladies at The Sewing Lady made the process a breeze. We had just under 3 months to plan our wedding. We went shopping in a Sunday and fell in love with a dress. My fiancé saw my face when I was looking at the pictures trying to decide and he called and bought the dress over the phone. They held it until I could come back for my first fitting. We made a few changes to the dress to make it fit my style. Everything was done in time and professionally. The day of the wedding my husband says I looked like a beautiful princess. The gown was exactly what I wanted and it made the day even more special. They offer dresses to fit all budgets and occasions. During my last fitting, we actually bought a prom dress for my youngest daughter. Check them out!

    Unbelievable beautiful

    I went dress shopping one day and i didnt find my dream dress but i got on facebook market seen a picture of a dress and it said wedding dress sale under $100 so i made an appointment went in to this amazing place full of beautiful dresses the staff was very helpful nd complementary. When i say it was amazing experience that i would never change

    I brought in my wedding dress and asked them to cut the huge train off, add a corset, and add sleeves so I could make it my own. They did all of it beautifully!! The dress came out looking absolutely amazing and like a completely different gown. I was extremely delighted with their work and how much they were able to capture the look I wanted.

    If you want a personable, small-scale, loving environment for your fitting experience, this is the place to go. Run by a small group of women spanning multiple generations, this shop has an intimate feel of familial love and grandmotherly care. I had my dress fitted there to perfection - they took in the bodice, hemmed the length, fixed beading, and perfected my delicate capelet. One little note: if you need anything done quickly, this may not be the best place for you as this is a small team of careful seamstresses who give each piece the care and time it deserves. If you want to experience your dress fitting with people who take the time to get to know you and your dress, while supporting a local business, The Sewing Lady is for you.

    Diana is so lovely to work with! She had to reconstruct my entire dress and it ended up fitting me like a dream! It was absolutely perfect! She also made me a custom cathedral veil and my garters! The work they do is just stunning, and the women there are so nice. I've already referred many girls to them, and they have the same experience... Perfect!

    The sewing lady did an amazing job on my dress! She fix problems that I didn't know could be fixed. Everything was done in a timely manner, so timely she was done way before I was even able to come in. She and her staff are polite, and friendly.

    I wish I could give more than 5 stars for value. The Sewing Lady is a true artist. She understands wedding gowns and knows how to make any dress fit you like a glove. I am a plus size woman with a short torso and was worried about getting a wedding dress to fit. I had to order the dress to fit my hips so the top was of course too big. The Sewing Lady took her time with me. She has set prices for the things you need done, hem, take in, steaming, etc. and that price does not change no matter how many times you meet with her. As a bride I lost some weight and she kept up with those changes no matter how many times she had to alter it. I also needed to add shoulder straps to my strapless dress for my comfort level and to be respectful of the catholic church we were married in. She somehow found fabric that matched my dress perfectly and the straps looked like part of the dress when she was finished. I highly recommend if you need alterations for any type of dress, but especially a wedding dress you go straight to The Sewing Lady. She will take care of you and anything you need for your wedding day!

    Overall good work

    She did good work but ignored the fact that the bra she inserted was too high (which I expressed to her). Luckily it didn't look weird, just felt weird.

    My dress looked lovely! The alterations were very expensive, more than the dress itself, but it was beautiful work. They do take pride in what they do and are always very busy. Thank you for making my dress fit beautifully, and being patient with us

    Avoid alterations here

    My goal in writing this review is to save at least one bride from the stress of having her dress altered here. The sewing lady was actually recommended by the shop where I purchased my dress, and I’ll be contacting them separately to let them know of my experience.
    - they made me cry at my first appointment because they wouldn’t let up about how my boobs sit “so low” and how if I didn’t pay extra to have a bra built in, the dress would look bad.
    - I paid around $800 and came in for 8 separate fittings. These things wouldn’t bother me as much if I felt like the dress fit perfectly by the end. The straps were too long after I asked several times for them to be shortened and they fell during my first kiss ruining the photo. They actually told me they wouldn’t shorten the straps any more because then they would be too tight and I asked them to do it anyways, which they obviously didn’t. The bodice fit poorly and had wrinkles in almost every photo. The bust also didn’t fit well and kept gapping, this might also be because the straps didn’t fit me. I’ve attached photos.
    - Three weeks before I wedding and at my fifth fitting (2 weeks apart each) they still hadn’t started on the hemline. I’m honestly not even sure what they touched in those first 5 appointments other than building in a bra that looked no different than the one the dress already had. Each appointment it seemed like they were just fixing the work they had already done, then sent me home. I stressed to them how I was starting to worry because my wedding was 3 weeks away and questioned if it would be done in time, they assured me they’ve never missed a wedding and I had nothing to worry about.
    - 10 days before my wedding and at my 6th fitting when I tried the dress on it was realized by the seamstress that nothing had been worked on in the two weeks since my last fitting. They still hadn’t started on any layers of the hemline. I was told there was nothing they could do that day and I needed to come back over that weekend a few days later.
    - One week before my wedding I came in and it seemed like everything would be done, they just wanted to touch up the hem a bit, shorten the very inside layer (which hadn’t been touched) and press it for me for free to make up for the last appointment which seemed nice.
    - 3 days before my wedding I went in for a final try on and the hem still was too long. I was at the shop for an hour and 45 minutes while they finished the dress on the spot. You can imagine the stress an unexpected almost 2 hour appointment puts on the bride the week of the wedding.
    - The one thing I don’t have a photo of is the severe bruise on my side caused by the boning in the dress. I still have the bruise after more than 2 weeks since the wedding (and throughout the honeymoon) and fully believe if the dress fit me it wouldn’t have done bodily harm.

    My experience at the Sewing Lady was awful. It took twice the quoted time to get my dress back, and I had to pick it up the day before my event. It was still too tight, but I just had to deal with it. There was usually a long wait to get into the dressing room. I found the owner to be rude. She didn't listen to my concerns, and was always trying to get me to buy accessories from her shop, even though I told her many times I already had what I needed. I also question the amount she charged me for the alternation, and speculate that she talked me into some adjustments I didn't need. But again, that is just speculation. Will not be recommending.

    Claire, I'm so sorry that you feel this way about your experience at our store. We quickly realized that you were upset with your alterations when your were curseing at us, calling us names in the dressing room. Therefore we felt the need to go above and beyond to make sure you were happy. Considering the timeframe you gave us to let out your gown, I feel as if we accomendated as much as we were able to. Again, I apologize for not satisfiying your needs as I felt like I did and if I would've known you felt this way when you picked up your gown I would've never let you leave unhappy. I want anyone and everyone that walks out of my store to be satisfied completely. If you need anymore assistance in the future we are more than happy to work with you.

    Steer clear- Do not pass go!!

    Seriously one of the wildest experiences?!? Worst customer service. Went in late June for flower girl dress. Wedding in October (first weekend, 10/3) My flower girl loved the idea of getting to “build her own” we tried on the exact dress she wanted there. Added a belt. It was so beautiful and what she wanted! They said they had to recreate because they couldn’t have her take that exact dress. We paid in advance because we were sure. She said we could do a fitting in a few weeks- all parties decided to wait until 2 months before due to her in a growth spurt. Came to our 1st fitting expecting the dress to be complete- driving from out of town. They took her measurements the first try on. The dress was NOT in her measurements it was still 4 sizes too large. It didn’t have the tulle on it they just stitched the belt on the front not in the back. They scheduled another appointment for a month later (1st week of September) and we understood because things happen- no biggie. Week of the apt. I called to make sure it would be done this time- they said yes- then call the next day to say no and cancelled the apt on me. I had an apt the next week given it would be done (3 weeks before the wedding). Then they called again to cancel that apt.(the 3rd apt now!) And change it to 2 weeks before the wedding because they simply didn’t have time to do her dress (which was ordered WAY ahead of time). I was beyond frustrated at this point. We were just under a month from the wedding and they kept cancelling on me. I didn’t want to wait till 2 weeks before to get her first actual try on- what if it needed a change again?? I expressed this and they said and I quote, “it is what it is”. We didn’t want the order cancelled because my flower girl (my little sister) wanted it and she is picky about clothes and we both liked it. I like amazed at how rude they were on the phone. The receptionist/desk worker actually called me back after I spoke to the main lady apologizing for how rudely they other gal treated me. The next day the main owner lady called me back (3 weeks before the wedding at this point) and totally cancelled my order even though we wanted it. She said “what you want we don’t have time for”. Even though I came in WAY early for what I needed to. Literally cancelled the order ON ME! When I said “what do you expect me to do at this point” her response, “oh honey- just go to David’s bridal and buy a take home dress”followed by “you know your wedding won’t be prefect right?” Why would you tell a bride that?? I know it won’t be but what type of vendor are you?? I didn’t expect for perfection and I felt like I rolled with their mistakes rather gracefully up until the last cancel. Nothing against David’s bridal because we were able to find something but ?????? What an awful manner to have with a customer. I was not happy and neither was my mom with the lack of respect, rudeness and how the owner had no care about what happened with my order🥴

    I read reviews that didn’t give the best reviews on Yelp before and I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED!! I thought well- she likes it.. They were nice at a bridal show so it must be okay?? Ladies STAY CLEAR! Take your business elsewhere. I wouldn’t trust or recommend them EVER!!!!! I don’t write reviews but I had to here.

    First, staff was rude. Second, she must need rent money for her shop since her costs are over the top high! I mean crazy high! Suggest seamstress over off 135 instead, much more reasonable, friendly, and very professional vs. this place. GO ELSEWHERE!
