I rarely write reviews but after reading the only review here on this site I was absolutely compelled to. I would recommend this store (and have) to all my friends and family. After coming from a staunch, and very unappealing experience at Davids Bridal, wear they literately wanted me to fill out the equivalent to a job application to even look at a dress, And refusing based on principle,I left that store feeling disappointed that this day of finding the magic of a dream dress had been compromised.
As I entered SC I was met with warmth and openness. Elisabeth greeted me and my Best friend (Maid of Honor) with a sincere smile and determination to be helpful. I said I was and 10/12 on the bottom and a 12/14 on top. She directed us to racks full of gowns and encouraged me to try on, based in that some of them had been altered. It was the most fun pouring through all these options. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I chose about 8 dresses varying in sizes from 10 - 14. Elisabeth was the perfect blend of helpful and absent. I didn't feel like she was babysitting us or hovering, though she miraculously appeared when I needed her to take a dress to the room. I cannot write enough words to say how professional and friendly she was. She was also very honest and informative. The first one I tried on she immediately said was "huge." She was right and kept me moving forward though my selection. The greatest thing was that I chose dresses I would not have in a Bridal store, because of price and pressure. I chose what I liked, not what the price tag warranted. I would advise all brides to at least experience the freedom in this. Especially Brides like me who are middle Age and 30 years ago spent way too much for a wedding dress that they looked at later and said "What was I thinking?"
The gown I chose I never would have chosen in a photo. I would have passed it by. And it is absolutely drop dead gorgeous! This review is long and there is more to say. Go TO The Shabby Chic

I contacted Shabby Chic right before they moved. I was able to find my dress the first trip into the store. The ladies there were wonderful. Helped me find my dress, fix the zipper on my dress, then after they moved, before they opened there new store, they were able to get me my dress back to me. This store was amazing! I would highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a dress or any wedding attire.

Super friendly and helpful. I had my crying bridal moment. Not responsive enough on social media though. But not a problem to me. Grateful I found my dress first try .

The Shabby Chic great, would NOT recommend seamstress

    READ THIS REVIEW!

I debated about writing this review for months, but ultimately felt like I should share my experience with The Shabby Chic and, more importantly, their seamstress.

I should start by saying that The Shabby Chic itself was absolutely wonderful. It was the third bridal shop I had went to that day and ended up being where I bought my wedding dress from. My group was the only group in the shop during my appointment, and we had a consultant's undivided attention the entire time. We had independence to browse dress racks ourselves, but the consultant also made a few suggestions and brought out a few dresses herself. I never felt pressured by the consultant to "just hurry up and pick one" or felt like my thoughts on the dresses she brought out weren't heard and considered. When I decided on my wedding dress, the consultant was able to give me multiple discounts due to small flaws in the dress (it was used, of course), which I really appreciated. Altogether I just spent around $550 on a dress that was originally well over $1,000, which I'd say is a steal (not to mention that the consultant gave me a congratulatory gift bag, too)!

I wanted to get alterations done for those small flaws I mentioned, so the consultant recommended I use the in-shop seamstress (Mary Hafner). I couldn't find any information/reviews about her online, but the consultant trusted her, so I went with it. That is where I went wrong. Right off the bat, this seamstress seemed unfriendly and coarse. At both of my fittings, which happened mid-May and mid-June, she was not wearing a mask (which doesn't bother me, but seemed completely unprofessional, given the COVID-19 pandemic). When I gave her my thoughts on what I'd like altered, she was kind of pushy about what she thought would be best, almost like she didn't consider what I'd requested. (Granted, a lot of what she said was based off of her experience as a seamstress, but she also changed my mind about what I wanted my veil to look like, which wasn't cool.) I tried to let this feeling of uncertainty roll off my shoulders by thinking, "This seamstress apparently has a lot of experience, so even if she rubs me the wrong way, I should just trust in her skills", but I was WRONG. (For background knowledge: My dress is mermaid-style with intricate beading on the bodice and a tulle skirt.) There were MULTIPLE errors in my dress when I received it back. There was a noticeable rip near the zipper on the side of the bodice. The bodice was supposed to be close-fitting, but the zipper VERY EVIDENTLY bunched up near my hip, visible in all of my wedding pictures showing that side of my body. The zipper itself would not go past a certain point without SIGNIFICANT pulling. The bra cups added into the dress were poorly sewn (like, I could've done a better job if I'd done it myself). I asked for beading on the edge of my veil and there was none. Mind you, the impression the seamstress gave me at our initial fitting was that the dress/veil would be nothing but flawless in the end; in fact, multiple of the issues I listed above we SPECIFICALLY talked about fixing at my initial fitting. The seamstress also had more than enough time to fix these issues-- I bought my dress early March, my initial fitting was mid-May, I received my dress back mid-June, and I got married late-August. My mom and I ended up calling the seamstress back and asking her about these issues. She gave us excuses in response-- "You have no idea how long I spent on your dress", "I worked on that for such a long time and that's as good as it's going to get", "I can't fix that because the fabric is too fine", things of that nature. She eventually agreed to take the dress back and spend some more time on it, but I noticed no difference. I PAID OVER $600 ON THESE ALTERATIONS. COMPLETELY frustrating. If there is one thing a bride should not feel on her wedding day, that would be disappointment about her wedding dress. I most definitely did.

Altogether, I'd give The Shabby Chic 5/5 stars, and Mary Hafner 0/5 stars.

Seller beware! They took my dress for consignment called me after the 12 mo. Told me it hadn't sold asked if I would like to lower the price and extend it 6 mo? Believing them I said yes...then I called this month as the 6 mo would be over next month to get my dress to be told " it had been donated"! So they either lied and already sold the dress or lied to keep it! I am in the process of filing a suit for fraud.

After all the disappointment, I certainly will NOT RETURN to "Shabby Chic Bride Consignment Shop" ever again to spend my money on such HORRID customer service! Hope this review will help you evaluate clearly before you walk in this store!

Yesterday I went there, we purchased several items at the store, in which the total amount was USD 223, and we paid it in full. Later I noticed on their Facebook page that they had specified to show appreciation to all military personnel 5% discount, since they were so "obliging", I thought I could call the store. When I called the store I spoke to the store owner instead of the staff because she couldn't make any decisions. I told the owner I forgot to mention yesterday that my husband serves the country, so politely I asked if there is any possibility of negotiation for getting the 5% discount, she immediately said unkindly "No, because you forgot and it is too late and it is not possible to give a refund!". In the first place I wasn't expecting for any full amount refund nor did I expect the same price as for the 2 petticoats and gloves they offered 2 months ago for USD 58.5, I even kept the price list till now, however, I brought it up the fact that they did offer USD 58.5 back then and I wanted to see what explanation they would give me. Well, the owner, who couldn't explain a clear reason why they offered USD 58.5, instead she unkindly said the offer from the previous staff was completely wrong, that it is not possible they would give out such a low price. Furthermore, she said no negotiation at all because yesterday I forgot to tell them my husband serves the country. Despite on the price given from them was wrong or not getting the 5% discount, the owner talking attitude was super bad and her attitude only went from BAD to WORSE, in which it got on my nerves.

I said, "My whole point is that I am just asking what you could do for me to get the 5% discount that I forgot to mention yesterday.

    The Shabby Chic Bride's reply:

We are truly sorry this customer did not have an excellent experience at our shop. We strive to ensure everyone who enters our shop leaves feeling as though they have received the best possible customer service. However, given her testimony of the events that occurred, we are obligated to protest and share the points of the story she failed to mention.

First off, the large majority of our items belong to consignors. As such, we have an obligation to sell the items at the prices which they have requested. Therefore, we would never offer to sell petticoats at a discounted price. We are not sure where this customer would get a "price list" (as she mentioned having received 2 months prior to her purchase) because we do not maintain an active price list of our store's inventory due to items constantly moving in and out of our store on a daily basis.

Second, this customer wanted a discount on every item she liked. While we were unable to offer her a lower price than what was displayed on the price tag, we did agree to complete her desired alterations for free. She requested that two of the veils she purchased be sewn together to make one very long veil. Typically we would charge $25 for this service, however because we wanted ensure her excellent experience, we offered to complete these alterations complimentary. You'll notice she did not mention this in her review of our services.

Third, all of our store polices are clearly displayed at the cash register, as well as on the sales receipt of every purchase. This includes our very strict "all sales are final" policy. This customer was aware that once a purchase was made, there are no refunds. Any discounts applied to the purchase must be made at the time of purchase; there is no way for our small, local, family owned shop to apply a discount after a purchase has been made.

We stand by all of our policies. We have been in business for 2 years and no one has ever challenged them until now.
