    Amazing to work with!

I had the privilege to provide entertainment services for a wedding at The Stone Barn and they couldn't be easier to work with. Not every venue takes care of the outside vendors but the staff at The Stone Barn was amazing. When I called to schedule a site visit Alex was more than willing to spend some time with me going over the venue and how everything would work. She was also very accommodating when it came to me arriving early the day of the wedding to setup and do sound check. During the event she was on top of everything coordinating the formalities and making sure we were all on the same page. I guess it might be a little unusual for a vendor to review another vendor but they truly deserve it. I hope to work with Alex and the staff at The Stone Barn again, it was truly a pleasure.

We had my daughter's wedding at the Stone Barn in mid-October and it was more perfect than I could have ever imagined. Through all the planning Alex and Lindsay were professional, kind, and had everything under control. The food was absolutely delicious and our guests were surprised at the variety and care taken in the preparation. We brought in some additional hors d'oeuvres from favorite spots from places my daughter and my new son-in-law have lived. We added desserts from wonderful local places in Chester County.

The wedding ceremony was outside near the pond and was absolutely a perfect setting.

Alex and Lindsay answered our many questions and changes with aplomb, never showing that anything was difficult. On the big day, they would appear to ask how it was going, help and direct, then 'poof' be in the background. All this while Alex was 9 months pregnant.

I highly recommend The Stone Barn and I'll always remain a big fan.

This was a perfect venue for my daughter's wedding. It is a family owned and run enterprise and guests are treated like family. Alex, the banquet manager was an excellent partner throughout the process. My daughter bonded with her during our site visit and she was the best possible coordinator for our big weekend. The food was outstanding both for the rehearsal dinner at their Foxfire restaurant and for our reception. If you are looking for a beautiful barn wedding, the Stone Barn is for you!

I am not a person who gives out five stars lately. But if they had a sixth one, I would give the Stone Barn that one, too. I had my wedding at the Mill earlier this month, and from the very beginning of planning to the day itself, I simply could not have asked for a better experience. It's that simple.

First of all, the setting is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. Kelly and Heather answered all my scatterbrained questions promptly and thoroughly during the planning stage, which helped me work through figuring out how to put the big event together in a way that was stress-free and easy. Kelly worked with my parents as well as me to coordinate details and was always so nice and pleasant with us. They were flexible on the time we could come decorate the day before and any number of other details. On the day of the event, I felt totally relaxed and calm. The food was absolutely delicious (Beef Wellington and Crab Cakes, both yummy both at the tasting and the event.) The service was excellent. The staff were so helpful and lovely on the day of -- I don't know all of their names, but they were wonderful and deserve a shout-out.

I honestly just feel so grateful. The Stone Barn made my wedding day so easy and stress free. I know I sound like an infomercial, but I had the time of my life at an event I expected to be stressful and full of worrying about details. Nonsense. It was fun and carefree. Thank you to Kelly and her wonderful staff, including Chef Ray, who we got to know at our tasting. I'd highly recommend the Stone Barn to anyone.

The Stone Barn was a wonderful place to hold our reception. Prior to the wedding, they aloud us to come in and scope out the venue, as well as coming in a few months before to discuss what kind of decorations we could have. We even tried out some of our ideas to see if they would work and the wedding consultant gave us suggestions on how to improve the decorations. We were able to come in the day before and set up the decorations ourselves with the assistance of a staff member. The staff were wonderful and made sure that the bridal party was served hour de' vours during cocktail hour. I would definitely recommend the Stone Barn if you are looking for a beautiful rustic venue with lots of picture opportunities and a great staff to work with!

I knew I wanted to get married at the Stone Barn the first time I saw it. My husband and I checked out a number of local venues and did price comparisons on all of them - the Stone Barn was neither the most expensive nor the least expensive, but it definitely had the most "bang for the buck." It is a gorgeous location with both outside and inside ceremony venues. The Mill was great for our reception - plenty of atmosphere and space! The staff is very friendly, professional, and accommodating. The food is fresh, local, and amazing, and the head chef (Ray) is awesome. Our wedding was beautiful.

The Stone Barn is easily the best place to have a wedding in the area. We rented The Mill for our Sept 17th wedding and it could not have been easier or more beautiful. Kelly and Alex are serious pros at this and answer any questions you might have leading up to the event. They're also on hand on the day of the event making sure you don't forget to do something. I wouldn't have made it through without them, but with them it was a breeze. You don't even need to hire a wedding planner with them in the package!

On the day of, everything was gorgeous and perfectly set up to our specifications. Not only that, but the food was incredible. People are still raving about it almost 2 weeks later. I'm planning on going back for a meal in the Foxfire restaurant ASAP. Their new chef Ray does an incredible job.

You have to go to The Stone Barn. You WILL fall in love with the Mill. I couldn't have imagined a more gorgeous setting for a wedding.

We booked way in advance, and at the time our guest list was not big enough to book the mill building, but we had our pick of 2 other rooms, each with their own ceremony site. By the time of the final payment, our list had grown and because it wasn't booked we were able to switch to the mill afterall. We held an afternoon ceremony in the garden by the pond, followed by the reception in the old mill building. The food was delicious for our buffet, the staff incredibly helpful, and the wedding coordinator was always very good at getting back to us quickly when we had questions throughout the planning stages. The mill provides an indoor/outdoor venue for the reception and we were blessed with perfect weather enabling guests to take full advantage. They have on site back-up for inclement weather for each room choice, as well, which initially drew me to the place. Friends who were well into planning their weddings were coming up to us saying they wished they had seen the place before they booked their own special day and everyone still raves about the whole day even now 2 years later!

We were looking for a place that we could have an outside wedding with the security that there was a backup plan at no additional cost. It turned out to rain the entire week prior and up to the wedding date, so we were married inside the Mill. It was a gorgeous place to get married and I highly recommend it!!!

The Stone Barn was fabulous! Peggy (wedding coordinator) was on top of every little detail and ensured that our event was flawless. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Our guests were raving about the venue, the food, the beautiful property. We wished the day didn't have to end.

Overall, we were very happy with our venue and everything turned out beautifully. Kelly was wonderful to work with and was very helpful with everything leading up to the wedding day. The day of, she went out of her way to make sure that we had everything we needed. It was rainy and we wanted to go outside for photographs butfof course I had left my rain boots that I had meant to bring at home. Kelly went and got me a pair of her personal rain shoes and a tarp that we could lay my dress on so it didn't get wet. The entire staff really took care of everything, even things that we weren't prepared for or expecting. The only small issue we had was a couple misunderstandings regarding the deposits we had paid but it all worked out.

My daughter & son-in-law just got married & had their reception at The Stone Barn. It was the perfect day in every way imaginable. All the wedding guests were so pleased with how beautiful the venue was, how amazing the food was, and how gracious the staff was. They allowed us to come the day before & decorate the room. Kelly was wonderful, and was doing everything humanly possible to help us. The day of the wedding they literally gave us the perfect day. Kelly had 2 weddings that day & they had a group arrive for dinner....she was busy, but always making sure that everything was done to perfection. Allen was an absolute sweetheart in setting up the outdoor wedding site, & even reassuring us that we would wind up having a beautiful day weather wise - he was absolutely right! The servers were outstanding in serving the food promptly & filling every guests need and/or desire. The chef & his staff prepared delicious meals, we had 3 different meals served, and you could hear & see the wedding guests sharing their meals & bragging about how wonderful each meal was. The wedding guests were not from the area, and everyone had such a wonderful time that they plan on returning individually to enjoy the day with lunch or dinner in the area. My daughter & son-in-law fell in love with the venue on their very first visit....and they were recommended by others who had attended weddings at this venue. BEST advice they ever got! EVERYONE at the wedding, not just me, would highly recommend The Stone Barn!

We fell in love with the Mill at the Stone Barn as soon as we saw it. The location is unique and provides the opportunity to personalize the space with decorations. Chef Ray is extremely talented and the food was excellent. He also worked with us to provide some special food for the cocktail hour to go with our Oktoberfest theme. The staff was attentive and extremely helpful. The only "down side" is that it can take a while to get a response to calls or emails, but this did not detract from the end result in any way. Our guests were all thrilled with everything from start to finish and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

We loved the Stone Barn. Heather and Kelly were great about easing my nerves and helping to pull everything together. They were flexible and let us really plan the ceremony and reception and made it our own. They allowed me to voice my opinion and gave guidance when asked. It was perfect. Everyone at the Stone Barn were responsive to our wants and needs and guests have spoken about how sweet and kind everyone was. I really wanted my dog at my ceremony and they were kind enough to accommodate me and were also so sweet to my little mini poodle. The Stone Barn is gorgeous for a fall wedding. I can't wait to see my professional photos because I know they will be gorgeous; they give you the perfect scenic back drop. The food was excellent, too. Thank you, Stone Barn for helping to make my day perfect and my dreams come true. My husband and I can't wait to spend every anniversary eating a delicious dinner or lunch at your venue!

We recently had our wedding at The Stone Barn in Kennett Square, Pa. We were looking for a rustic, romantic yet semi-casual place to get married and we knew a ballroom was not our thing. From the moment we took our first tour of The Stone Barn we knew we wanted to get married there. They take such good care of their grounds and the barn is absolutely beautiful. I loved that we were able to use the three rooms. It added character and divided up the wedding enough so that people weren't on top of one another. I would say if you are having a "large" wedding (100 guests or more) you might want to consider using their "Mill" location. We had 77 guests and we had just enough room to be comfortable.
We first started deal with Kelly but half way through she stopped responding to my emails so after multiple attempts to call I was finally able to get in touch with Heather. Pretty much from that point on Heather was my coordinator. She was fabulous!! She emailed back quickly, was able to answer all of my questions and the service she provided on the day of was amazing. We always had drinks and food offered to the bridal party and she made sure we were well taken care of.
The food there is nothing short of amazing. Our food tasting was so delicious and the food the day of the wedding was equally as yummy. Everyone commented on how good it was!
My only complaint was that a few minor details that we had requested were not carried out correctly but thankfully my husband went over early and was easily able to fix a few things with the support of The Stone Barn so all was good in the end.
We loved The Stone Barn! It was reasonably priced, the food was amazing, they offered tons of options and they are super flexible with the bride and groom as far as decorating and vendors.

The Stone Barn was a great place for our wedding. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous; and I had always wanted an outdoor wedding. They had back-up plans in case of rain, and a back-up back-up plan in case of severe weather. The staff is very easy to work with. There are two 'venues' at the Stone Barn, one designed for small weddings, and one for large. My only issue was that the small wedding venue needs a little more expansion. The gardens for the small wedding could be improved. However, there are lots of great sights down at the large wedding venue.
The staff was great, and very easy to work with. They have a lot of experience, and have got this down to a science! The food is incredible.

The Stone Barn is a fantastically beautiful place to get married! We got married in late May at the Mill, one of their several banquet facilities, and our guests kept commenting on what a beautiful, storybook place it was. Our ceremony was outside with willows and the pond in the background. They had a large, rustic indoor space as a rain option, which fortunately we didn't have to use, but would've worked great for a 150 person ceremony like ours. The reception hall fits up to 200 people and is surrounded by large wooden decks, a running water wheel, and a garden path leading up to a gazebo over another pond in back. They do all catering in-house; the food was really good and not overly-expensive. You have to bring in your own alcohol, which saved us a lot of money because we were able to buy wholesale. The only negative thing I have to say is that they're a bit set on how they do things and aren't incredibly flexible. But they've been doing it for 30 years and do a good job.

I'm not sure whats happening at the Stone Barn but I hope they fix it soon because as I can see from the most recent reviews I'm not the only bride/family that things didn't go well. Here is my story:

In March we visited the Stone Barn and met with Peggy. It was absolutely beautiful, we booked it that same day. It had everything I was looking for in a wedding venue (I hate firehall/hotel weddings). It looked like an absolute fairy tale. Peggy was wonderful that day and I was looking forward to working with her. I had a very tight budget and no room at all for a wedding planner, so I felt great when she told me she would be doing all of that for me.

To skip ahead a few months, everytime I tried to call and talk to Peggy, she was never there and I had to talk to Jim. He never remembered me and I always had to refresh his memory. I understand that, I'm sure he has a lot of weddings but it did start to get old after awhile. I never heard from Peggy again.

Well we proceed through the process and met with them on our assigned dates. We went for the tasting and was told that we couldn't try everything we wanted to. We were having a buffet and they wouldn't make everything for us just to try, we had to just go by their descriptions. Well what we did get to eat was very good (although the chicken was dry and we went with the Salmon, which was out of this world). After we had the meeting for the final details, we found mistakes on the write up and had to keep calling them/emailing them back to make corrections. All of this I could have forgiven and still given them 5 stars a crossed the board, but then came the actual day.

We had a Sunday wedding, we were the only one booked for the day. When we got there, it wasn't Jim that was there, it was Alex, a young, nice girl that we had only met briefly at our tasting and at the rehearsal the week before. They only allowed us two hours to set everything up! I had 10 people with me and even with all that we had to go over the 2 hours and everyone said they felt very rushed to get out (I'm not sure why this was such a big deal for them). Its a very big space and would be hard for anyone to decorate in just 2 hours.

The ceremony went on just fine, then the pictures. We were late getting started (my hair dresser was late getting there which pushed everything back). So when we were taking photos, we constantly felt rushed through that too...I didn't enjoy it at all (although our photographer was great!). They also promised to bring us something to eat during the cocktail hours so the wedding party wouldn't be hungry, the only person that came out was one server with a plate of cheese and fruit which wasn't exactly the easiest thing to eat at that point. No one else but Alex came out to see us.

Once the reception started, everything seemed to be going okay although the food wasn't nearly as good as it was at the tasting and both my groom and I were served cold food. Then...the unthinkable happened! Fire!! The staff had not blown out the candles in the ceremony space (we had it inside) and my parents' antique table that our unity candle was sitting on caught fire from the candles and the lighter that was still sitting there. Needless to say it is ruined. The staff didn't come up and tell my parents anything, nor did they even apologize to them! I was so mortified. On top of that, their lights went out for a few minutes during the middle of everything which caused the bands speakers to blow which took some time to fix!

What a night!! Overall, I don't think it upset anyone too much but it was all the little things that just added up for us. I understand that anything can go wrong on a daily basis and I guess what we were just looking for was an apology at the end of the night. So while I still think its a beautiful location, and if they go back to making the food the way it was before, it has great food, I'm on the fence whether I would recommend it or not to someone. I'm putting yes, but it really should be maybe! Sorry for the long story, just had to get it out!!

Up until our rehearsal day, I would have given The Stone Barn at least 3/5 stars in every area. We loved the beauty and uniqueness of the venue, we loved the food (their catering is from their on-site restaurant), and we loved working with Peggy (The Stone Barn's coordinator). For the most part, our needs were met or at least considered. They don't have a big staff, so sometimes it takes a little while to hear back from Peggy or Jim (the owner), but they were usually pretty responsive.

We arranged a lot of details with Peggy over the course of our 5-month engagement, and she guaranteed us that though she wasn't sure she'd be there on our rehearsal day (she was on vacation), she would definitely be there on our wedding day. She even discouraged us from hiring a wedding coordinator because she would be there.

On our rehearsal day, staff was nowhere near our reception hall where they were supposed to meet us to take some of our decorations and to allow us to set up. We began doing a lot ourselves, and then realized that the floor chart was not the one we had given them, so we were missing a table and a few of the tables had the wrong number of chairs. That would have been easily addressed, except no one was there to address it for us. Finally, Jim (the owner) walked in and was visibly upset that we were inside the venue setting up, and harshly reprimanded me, our wedding coordinator, my husband, and my in-laws, even though we were told by Peggy that we could do exactly what we were doing.

Thank God I hired a coordinator, because she took care of everything and made sure everything was executed properly. The biggest surprise was that Peggy did not show up on our wedding day. She was nowhere to be found, and we never heard from her on our wedding day or in the weeks following. I felt very deceived that we spent SO much time working with her during the planning with the promise that she would be our coordinator on the wedding day, and then she didn't show up. Everything went perfectly, but I felt it was solely because we did hire our own separate coordinator. I don't trust The Stone Barn to follow through on their promises, and I would never want to work with Jim again because he was very rude.

However, like I said, the site was beautiful, the food was fantastic, and the staff did set up for an outdoor ceremony as well as our back-up rain site because the weather was a bit unpredictable that day. It was our choice up to the last minute which site we wanted to use, which was great.

I definitely don't regret having my wedding at The Stone Barn because it was gorgeous and rustic and fit very well with us as a couple, but I am leery of their staff.

    The Stone Barn's reply:

    Lisa,
I am so sorry that you were unhappy with your experience. The reason that I "was no where to be found" is that I am no longer associated with The Stone Barn. It is unfortunate that no one informed you of this change. I did speak with your wedding planner and told her but she apparently did not communicate this to you. I wiish you all the best. Peggy
