    10/10 highly recommend!

    HANDS DOWN THEE BEST SERVICE EVER!! From every phone call, text and email, everything was so smooth (considering we were a COVID post poned wedding) they took care of everything and reassured we were in great hands! The day went off perfectly and we cannot thank the staff enough for all of their hard work to make our special day come true! The staff was extremely professional and fun and went above and beyond!

    We had our wedding reception at the Thelma, and couldn't have been happier with how everything worked out. Jacqui and Jennifer were exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable from start to finish. I had made the decision early in planning to fully trust my vendors and let go of some control, and it was the best thing I could've done. Everything went off without a hitch!

    The Thelma is ridiculously gorgeous. Our guests were thrilled to take in the two-story gallery and experience all the Thelma has to offer. Even two weeks after the wedding, we're still fielding calls from guests about the amazing time they had - which, since a lot of the guests were very upper-crust Chicagoans, is a fantastic compliment. The Thelma is part of that, and we'll have the best memories for just about ever.

    I fell in love with the Thelma the minute I parked the car. It is undeniable the sheer beauty of the Thelma, from the modern art galleries to the old architectural details in the Great Hall and Fountain City Room. We loved working with Jacqui and Jessica, but there are a few things I'd like to highlight in my review:

    1) If you're having your wedding anywhere near Christmas (before or after), be aware that there are significant charges to relocate any Christmas decorations in the venue.
    2) If my guests had one complaint for the evening, it would be that the bartenders tended to be a little short with them. Not the most chipper or respectful of bartenders they've met in their lives.
    3) In the planning stages, I wish I would have taken more notes myself. Seemingly, the Thelma staff would be taking notes, but I'd find myself repeating things over and over each time we met. No biggie. All was fine, just a bit frustrating.

    Everything else was superb. Truly. All my guests were immediately impressed and my pictures are glorious with the Thelma as a backdrop.

    Cassie's wedding at THELMA was beautiful and we loved working with her. We apologize if the bartenders were not respectful. We certainly strive on providing the highest level of service. Regarding the holiday decorations, we were merely charging what the company which installed the decorations charged to remove and then set them up again. We have holiday parties through January so the decorations are up for a bit. And finally, in Cassie's first meeting she was with a sales person who then hands off the event an Events Coordinator. All notes were passed on, however, it is very rare that all decisions are made in that first sales meeting. Thanks for the input!

    Horrible Experience

    I had a wedding at Thelma and had the WORST experience.
    First, Thelma scheduled a band outside the building on the same day as my wedding- didn't ask me if this was alright given the noise pollution and lack of privacy with a huge crowd outside of my ceremony and reception.

    On the day, the staff were more focused on the band then helping with all the issues that happened that day - not enough tables as requested, stereo and microphone not working, bar tab was not stopped when I directed them too.

    I think they realised they had really messed up the day and offered to pay for the bar tab and champagne bottles I had ordered, which was a generous offer to try to fix all the issues.

    Two months later, they tried to bill me for a bar tab that was 3x the amount I requested it to be stopped at. After a lot back and forth with several different employees, and me agreeing to pay for what was originally agreed for what we were to be billed, they still threatened to take me to collections.

    HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE employees there. Do no recommend. Only wish I could give them 0 stars.

    On the night of this July wedding, yes we did have a major concert but the THELMA staff went above and beyond to make sure Sara’s day was special. She had her own staff dedicated to her wedding, we saved parking for her and her guests, and we even asked the band to hold sound during certain points so as not to disturb any speeches. At the end of the night Sara and her guests told us they never even heard the concert and all was perfect! What is prompting this review now is she is refusing to pay for product she and her family agreed to pay for and was consumed. THELMA absolutely did its part to make this a great day for Sara! We are simply asking her to pay for what she agreed to pay. It’s unfortunate that after all the hard work we put into making this day special for Sara that she is now taking such a negative tone with such a great community asset.
