Urban Cowboy was one of the required options of caterers at our venue. They did an incredible job setting up the reception space and had we been outside for the ceremony, they also would have set up the chairs. We did a single tasting with Chris and we were so happy with the options and choices. There was one menu item we weren't able to taste, but we wanted it on our menu and it was delicious! Short rib stroganoff - you cannot go wrong! All of our guests said they really enjoyed the food and loved the grazing table and passed appetizers during cocktail hour.
They also bartended for us and we came up with our signature cocktail menu and made sure to let them know what ingredients were needed and they pulled through! All of the cocktails were amazing and our guests loved sipping on them throughout the evening.
Chris was super professional and constantly in communication with us! We were very pleased with everything he provided.Urban Cowboy's reply:

I don’t know if it’s possible to put into words how much I adore Chris and his team. From the second we spoke on the phone to the last bite of food on my plate, working with Chris was an absolute joy. He is the most helpful and knowledgable vendor I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. He was an excellent communicator and sorted through my chaotic last few weeks with ease. The appetizers, charcuterie spread and taco bar were absolute hits. Everyone I spoke to was just raving about the food and presentation. I would work with Chris and his team again in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything -

Chris was recommended to us by a friend whom used him for their wedding. They had nothing but wonderful things to say, and after working with Chris, I must agree. We hired Chris and his food truck for our rehearsal dinner at Deep Eddy Vodka Distillery. He was so prompt with his responses and very clear on what he could offer, as well as giving us all necessary details. We chose to serve tacos only, and everyone who partook, talked about how delicious the food was, and how neat it was to have that kind of experience at our rehearsal dinner. Thank you Chris for making the process so easy, and for getting back to me on each and every question I had. Your food was beyond delicious, and I know that if we had not already booked our wedding caterer, you would have been the perfect choice. -
User2476012 Sent on 12/20/2015I cannot speak highly enough of Chris and his team at Urban Cowboy. My husband (!) and I spoke to multiple catering services before making a decision and none were so flexible and caring as Chris. We absolutely made the correct decision! Chris worked with our tight budget to create a delicious menu that got compliments all night, but what was most impressive to me was how much he genuinely cared about making our wedding wonderful and stress-free. We had an email chain about 40 messages long (if that shows you his patience level, haha!) because he took the time to answer all of my questions and address any concerns. I was learning as I planned my wedding and Chris steered me straight the entire time. He and his team also went above and beyond and cleared off all of our wedding tables at the end of the night, which I had been planning to do myself.

User2103795 Sent on 04/21/2015From the first communication Chris was responsive, professional, and flexible. As it got closer to the date and the RSVPs continued to go up and up, he worked with us. The day before the event he was proactive about asking for our "backup" plan since rain was forecast and the event was outdoors. He committed to arriving one hour prior to the event and was actually there a bit earlier than that. The food was delicious - his fried avocado tacos made everyone swoon. The food truck was a good size for a private event and had just the right ATX Food Truck ambiance. Now if I could just figure out a way to get more of those fried avocado tacos, life would be perfect! -
User1429200 Sent on 11/09/2013Chris and his team did an amazing job. The food was delicious and everyone loved it. All of the guests raved about everything from the appetizers to the entree options. His team even helped set up the reception venue and took care of things that we had forgotten (limes, lemons, cherries for drinks). They were such a huge help and really went above and beyond to make everything from the initial consultation to the food service as seamless and easy as possible. The servers and bartender were all very friendly and professional. Having Chris and his team be part of our wedding day was one of the best decisions I could have made!

Our guests LOVED the food, but due to some unexpected weather, we weren't able to get the food truck experience like we paid for. Chris did throw in a few extra sides for the last minute change-up, but I'm still honestly confused as to what was even served at the wedding. We laugh it off, of course, but I would've liked a little more thought out into our bride/groom plates (most of the food on it was cold, and it was served to us immediately, we hadn't waited on it). Our leftovers were absolutely amazing, which is why we are still kind of baffled as to why our plates were so out of the ordinary based on other testimonials from our guests. Overall, this company worked with us as we needed more time for our deadline, and he was always so patient in answering all of our questions. I recommend this caterer for weddings, especially in the warm spring/summer. I bet it would've been out of this world if we had been able to stick to our plans. Our guests raved about how the food tastes! -

Where do I begin?
Inexplicably, though I am used to a buffet being set up through the salad line first then the entree line, Urban Cowboy did it backwards so our guests who have fed back to me registered surprise there even was a salad buffet. They missed it entirely. This was a rookie catering setup error.
Furthermore, the brisket was tough, dry and overdone, though I have heard from several the fish was amazingly good. The groom, interestingly, told me his brisket was underdone, so there was no consistency in the batches. I didn't try the fish so I have no personal experience. The green beans were underdone, very crunchy. I thought overall the food was meh for what I paid for it as mother of the bride. The owner has contacted me twice about this review, attacking me. He asserts he has seen pictures of the party (he wasn’t there so he is basing his opinion off pictures) and everyone looked happy therefore I am wrong in criticizing his particular service. He shouldn't delude himself and others into believing happy faces in general meant his individual contribution to the party was excellent. A total non sequitur. I invite you to scroll through his other negative reviews and ask yourself: is this the level of professionalism you expect from a catering service? Do you want to be attacked online and offline for simply giving your honest opinion? Three stars for the food and setup which was not horrible but not great either. One star for the extremely hostile customer service. Average it to two stars.
Please. Check out his ad hominem responses to this and other reviews on Google and Yelp. Do you really want to give this person your business?
And yes, he did send a syrupy sweet congratulatory email to our daughter entreating her to have me delete this review, misspelling our last name in the process. Nope. Potential customers need to understand with whom they are dealing. Hard pass on this hot mess.
Chris claims that I am negative on the wedding in general and therefore that weakens the validity of my review. Not true. I have endorsed Bonita Brides (hair and makeup, an absolute five star experience), Chad Stone (photographer), The ice Plant (venue), and would love to endorse DJ Jeremy Wilkerson but I can't find a link to do so, as well as the florist, of Botanical Jame all the way from Temple!. Our guests raved about the florist throughout the reception and after while they criticized the caterer.
I am even handed in my reviews. My main problems with Urban Cowboy at this point are the gratuitous ad hominem attacks and the meh service and food.
Amendment: due to the outrageous amount of attacking I have been subjected to by Chris post event regarding a 2 star rating, I am reducing it to one star. Stay far away from this shockingly hateful person. Wow.
