Tanja is the best of the best!!! Everyone was beyond happy with hair and makeup - including myself. Not only is she talented, she is an amazing person as well. She has a natural talent of making everyone in the bridal suite feel at ease and comfortable!!
Not only was the wedding morning extremely organized because of Tanja, but so was the bridal hair and makeup trial.
If you are wondering if you should go with Valentine Bride, you can stop wondering and go for it!!! 10/10 experience!!! : ) -

I'm so glad I found Tanja after looking up local hair & makeup artists near the venue!
It was so easy to schedule a trial with her. Both my parents & I were welcomed into her home where we met her resident birds, dogs, cats, and Lilly the teacup piggy (she immediately started cuddling with my dad and it was just too cute). Since I rarely do my hair or use makeup, I was anxious about not being sure of what I wanted or how to describe it... but she was able to nail both on the first try after asking only a few simple questions. You can tell this was not her first rodeo =) I loved the look, and so I booked. 6 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 1 happy bride-to-be.
A few weeks prior, Tanja reached out and made sure everything was set. Despite some indecision on my part, she was very accommodating to last-minute scheduling changes. On the 'Best Day Ever', Tanja came to the Airbnb at 5 am (!) to do hair & makeup for me, and her support Stephenie came shortly afterward to do the makeup for the group. Tanja was great about communicating and made it easy to get everyone done AHEAD of schedule. Stephenie's lashes came out so fantastic on the first bridesmaid that I made everyone else get them... and she was so patient with the beauty requests my aunts had for my mom & even tweezed her eyebrows. Both of them went above & beyond and everything came out amazing. My makeup survived a muggy July outdoor wedding as well as multiple ugly cries throughout the day, and I went all out with the dancing and still maintained perfect curls at the end of the night.

Great hair, but make-up application was lacking
I wish I had known what I was getting into before I booked this trial - in all fairness, Tanja is a very nice woman with a clear passion for what she does. She is an avid animal lover and a brilliant painter and all-around a kind soul. However, this was not the experience I had hoped for or expected and the final outcome was disappointing. I’m writing this review to provide honest feedback about my experience, both good and bad. Tanja does trials in her home, which is filled to the brim with cute but easily excitable animals. I don’t mean this to be rude or mean - I love animals, but I found it to be a stressful environment for a makeup and hair trial as there was a lot of barking and screeching. One of her cats in particular is extremely affectionate and will post up on your lap the entire time. This is very cute, but you will be covered in cat hair by the time you leave, so wear sweatpants! To be clear, my mother and I didn’t really mind (she’s a lovely cat) but if you don’t like cats you might be a little bit uncomfortable. Her studio is an intimate, dimly lit room with a low ceiling and no sources of natural lighting. As a result, I believe it was very difficult for her to color match our foundation. She didn’t use any base layers (moisturizer, primer, etc.) and airbrushed my face what I felt was the wrong color. The result was patchy and orange. At first it looked ok in the dimly lit room, but as soon as I saw myself in natural light I knew something was wrong. It didn’t look natural and photographed poorly. At that point, I didn’t think there was anything that could be done to fix it so I didn’t vocalize this. Perhaps I should have. It also didn’t wear well because she used eye shadow as liner instead of eyeliner so it bled shortly after application. I noticed she also didn’t set the makeup with finishing spray. Her makeup products looked a bit dated and possibly expired and unfortunately, my face started breaking out even before I got home. That said, she did do a great job braiding my hair and I really did like her eye makeup - with a little more finesse and better product it would truly have been great. For all of her hard work, I was sad that the outcome was not what I had envisioned. The trial was also very expensive. I wish it had gone better. I think customers should take this into consideration. I think Tanja could do a better job if her studio had better lighting and she updated some of her techniques and products. I do think she has the creativity and talent to do a great wedding hairstyle. She is a lovely person who clearly works hard and I wish her the best in the future.Valentine Bride's reply:
Hi Annie, thank you for your feedback and some nice comments. I truly wish you would have reached out to me first with any concerns before going public. I would have immediately addressed any issues professionally. I'm sadden that after hours of pleasant conversation and getting to know each other that you and your mom, Rosa, wouldn't feel comfortable to reach out to me to give me that chance. I got the impression all was good as your mom even said on the way out that she'd like to come back to talk further over tea. Now that I need to address your concerns publicly, I would hope that in the future if you aren't completely satisfied with a vendors services that you speak to them face to face to give them a chance to rectify any concerns. Reputations are important in the business world and I do my best to provide a service that is a wonderful experience. While I am not perfect, I enjoy kind, personally communicated feedback before being criticized publicly. To start, I always ask my clients up front if they have an issue with animals, (as some people may even be allergic), you and your mom said no and even wanted my cat to stay in the room. You had mentioned your fiance did not like cats so you enjoyed the opportunity to pet her. You even said you wanted to take her home being that she was so sweet and her name was Bonnie and your dog's name was Clyde. I offered you a lint brush so that you would not leave with cat hair on your lap. As for my studio, I do my best with the space I have to work in. The light I used while doing your makeup is a large natural day light bulb. Many artists also carry one with them on site as well. As for base layers, I did use primer around your eyes. The airbrush makeup I used does not need any primers or fixative spray as it is made to be water resistant and holds up against sweat. It is also water based and hypoallergenic. While I know you had acne already on your cheeks, this formula would not have contributed further to that. Also, the airbrush makeup was recently purchased as I go through my products very quickly. The other makeup I used on you in no way is expired. Not sure how you came to that conclusion especially without inspection. As for eyeliner, you didn't want any. I did not use any liner on you. On your mom I used a liquid liner at the base of the top lashes, pencil liner on her water line and shadow as liner at her bottom lash line. A technique that keeps it softer looking rather than a harsh pencil line. While you said you liked your hair and eyes, I believe with some communication and a bit of tweaking on my end, you would have been very happy. As for my price, it is not above industry standard. I have been told my prices are on the lower side. I did give your mom, Rosa, a rate sheet that listed all of my prices in advance. I really enjoyed our afternoon together and meeting both of you. Communication is essential in personal and business relationships. Had that been done, I know we would have had a great relationship with services that you would have been happy with and a wonderful experience on your wedding day with my creative team.
