Van Abel's of Hollandtown Reviews

We booked Van Abel's as the food caterer for our September 2018 wedding, as they came recommended by our venue. Patty was great to work with, and was very responsive to any questions or updates I had. They have a good variety of food options, and we selected the broasted chicken and tenderloin tips for our dinner, and several hot and cold options for hors d'oeuvres. The pricing was comparative to the other options we had considered. We had arranged a tasting appointment for four, and they provided many options and in good proportions. We left confidant that the food would be good at our wedding. The hors d'oeuvres went over really well. The meatballs were delicious, and by far, my favorite. We had the dinner served family style for the head and family tables, and then buffet for the other guests. Dinner was very good as well, and many guests went up for seconds of the chicken. They had proportions planned well, as we didn't have too many leftovers. We had a few meals of the leftovers following the wedding, and very little went to waste. We would highly recommend Van Abel's for catering needs.

The people at Van Abel's were very helpful with our reception planning and set up. Everything went according to plan and of course their food is delicious. The after dinner clean up process was very quick and efficient, allowing for dancing to start in a short time after dinner. The separate bar designated for the wedding hall is very large and there is plenty of space for guests to move in and out, so nobody is fighting for drinks. Van Abel's of Hollandtown helped us with making sure we didn't forget any of our things (decorations, gifts etc..) at the end of the night.

The crew that came and catered worked very fast and were very nice!! I was glad they were able to serve us family style for our head table and parents table. The only thing I didn't like was it seemed like the behind the doors items like the bill was just very unorganized. When we came to our pay off the remaining balance the day before they didn't have it noted down that we paid our initial deposit. Then after everything was said and done they told us that we needed to pay an extra $300 because they didn't have the correct amount on our final bill.

Other than that the food was good, the caterers that came to the venue were pleasant and they boxed everything up for us at the end of the night.
