The decision to have our reception at the Marriott at Metro Center was an easy one! The location was perfect (a few blocks from the National Mall) and the flexibility we had with our event was unlike any other venue we visited. The service during the planning and on the day of was excellent - anything we needed or wanted - they were able to do. We got a lot for our money and they are flexible with your budget. Not to mention you get a lot of extras that other hotels make you pay for (lighting, charger plates, cake, etc). You get a wedding planner with your event which is a huge help on the day of (she/he is able to coordinate your vendors coming in to set up while you are at the ceremony). And, tax and gratuity is included in their pricing which means you know exactly what you are going to be charged once the event is over (other venues add it on after).

Amazing event coordinators! The hotel was perfect for what we needed and they met all our expectations! They did however break our cake topper and not offer to pay for it, it was a family heirloom! :(Amazing event coordinators! The hotel was perfect for what we needed and they met all our expectations! This was the hotel for the wedding, we had a hard time getting them to agree to how we could use the buffet and commit to a good price for our wedding guests breakfast the next day. They tried to force us to do a banquet room and the woman handling the services was snippy sometimes. I personally had no problems with her, but I know she got into a fight with some of the wedding planners-who we ended up firing anyways.
We also had problems getting them to drop off the bags of food and gifts we put together for guests as they checked into the hotel. I ended up calling the hotel about it to yell because they had not even given my mother in law a bag when she came to the front desk!
Otherwise, the staff was very nice and the hotel is in okay condition. This was the hotel for the wedding, we had a hard time getting them to agree to how we could use the buffet and commit to a good price for our wedding guests breakfast the next day. This venue is a lovely location. The hotel is located right in the heart of downtown D.C. near the Mall, so it was perfect for our D.C. wedding. Also, their newly renovated reception area was really quite beautiful. They had some really great meal options and the food was quite tasty.
The sole criticism is with regard to overall responsiveness. It was quite difficult to get in touch with our assigned coordinator whether contacted via phone or e-mail. We live in California, so it was important for us to hear back from her, if only to let us know she was busy and would get back to us. Often, I had to contact her immediate supervisor who was always prompt in addressing issues and concerns.
On the day of our wedding, however, our assigned coordinator was helpful and attentive. I would definitely recommend this venue as a stylish location in which to hold a wedding reception. This venue is a lovely location.
