Whitney Farms Golf Course Reviews

We originally researched our venues online and went to Connecticut for a long weekend intending to see our four favorites. The Stone Barn was - on paper, at least - the bottom of the list when we started. There had been some issues with communication, mainly that the e-mail account used by the coordinator tended to flag my e-mail as spam. (so, a word of advice to anyone contacting them - send an e-mail, but give them a call too and make sure they know to look for your e-mail!) We also weren't keen on the idea of getting married at a golf course. It seemed too cookie cutter/not very us. Seeing the venue/meeting Christina changed our minds. They have two rooms on site which allowed us to do the ceremony in one space and the reception in another. The venue started life as the old barn and much of the stonework is still visible in the fireplace room. The whole thing was very charming and reasonably priced. The coordinator, Christina, was wonderful. She walked us through the options, worked with us on some very odd requests ( we wanted to take down a piece of decor over the fireplace due to glare and they were happy to do so), mocked up a table when we were torn on exactly how we wanted things set up, and was just over all great to work with. She also allowed us to make our final payment at the rehearsal and bring anything we wanted set up the next day to leave overnight, saving us an extra trip and wedding day stress. The food was excellent and they worked with us to accommodate a host of allergies (including making special gluten free meals for some of the guests). The bartender kept the line to a minimum all evening and everyone had a great time. The staff was very attentive, bringing drinks and food to the bridal suite during cocktail hour and checking on us throughout the evening to see if there was anything we needed. We were very happy with our choice!

The Stone Barn at Whitney Farms, Monroe, CT. Simply Divine! This is a true gem for delicious food and ambiance. Their main dining room is full of dramatic light from so many windows that overlook sunlit trees. Very elegant décor of cream and white that made it perfect for my daughter’s bridal shower in May. And the food: remarkable! We chose the buffet (very affordable). Don’t miss the bowtie pasta with Alfredo sauce, so silky, so light. We added the roast turkey breast carving station, and everybody raved how succulent it tasted. Absolute first-rate management and wait staff all the way. They made a beautiful day for the bride-to-be and all her guests.

The food was delicios and the service was great. cocktail hour was a neverending supply of ordevors.

I don't have enough great things to say about Stone Barn. They were incredible and really made our wedding the wedding of our dreams. So attentive, paid attention to every last detail request I had. The food was incredible, staff was super friendly and helpful. 3 years later and our family and friends are still talking about it! A++++

Whitney Farms was a great spot to host our Bollywood-themed prom! They were incredibly flexible with decorations, allowing us to remove their curtains to better go with our theme. Christina was a great event planner, and her team was very helpful in making it a great night for the children. My only complaint would be the occasional lack of responsiveness in phone answering. However, we appreciated their willingness to make gluten and dairy free meal options. It was a successful night. Thank you, Whitney Farms!

They are experts. They made our wedding absolutely flawless. The staff was so friendly, attentive and accommodating. They really worked with us on our budget unlike other venues that said they would and then did not budge the numbers. Highly recommended- they made our wedding day classy and just beautiful.

I can't say enough about The Stone Barn staff. While I had some challenges reaching the wedding coordinator at various times, in the end Christina and her staff pulled off an amazing day for us and our guests. They were extremely attentive to us and our family/guests and amazingly flexible with any change we requested at the last minute. The location was absolutely beautiful on the golf course leaving numerous places for photos and for guests to mingle. The food was good and the decor was beautiful (with the help of the items my mom designed and created). I couldn't have asked for a better day!

The food was DISSAPOINTING .Nothing was made from scratch.Deli roast beef.overcooked pasta with sauce from a can.Frozen rolls.A pregnant guest was denied an extra piece of chicken.Also I was charged for champagne and hot apps for 7 children,with a Hidden service charge for serving! The manager has not responded to my e mail!

I find the other reviews really funny, the must be friends trying to "up" the ratings. The service/manager is a joke, their way of conducting business is another joke. All they are interested in is getting their money, not making their customers happy.

DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE STONE BARN LET ME GIVE YOU A PIECE OF ADVICE DONT!
WE HAD OUR WEDDING THERE AND I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH MY GUT PRIOR TO THE WEDDING AND WITH ALL THE CRAZINESS I DIDN'T AND BOY DO I REGRET IT.
FIRST OFF-MOST ATTEMPTS TO GET AHOLD OF THEIR "WEDDING MANAGER" USUALLY WHEN UNANSWERED AND IGNORED FOR MONTHS I TRIED TO SET UP A TASTING AND NOTHING-I WAS TOLD "OH WHEN I GET YOUR MENU TOGETHER I WILL CALL YOU AND SET IT UP"-NEVER HAPPENED. I LET THAT GO BECAUSE I KNEW PEOPLE THAT HAD EATEN THERE AND SAID THE FOOD WAS GOOD
TWO DAYS PRIOR TO MY WEDDING I FINALLY MET WITH THE MANAGER AND WENT OVER LITTLE DETAILS INCLUDING THE BRIDAL SUITE AND MAKING SURE THAT I WOULD HAVE THAT AT MY DISPOSE FOR THE NIGHT TO USE THE BATHROOM, FRESHEN UP, ETC. WAS GUARANTEED THAT I WOULD HAVE IT FOR MY BRIDAL PARTY ONLY. THE NIGHT OF MY WEDDING I ENDED UP SHARING IT WITH A PARTY FOR A 15 YEAR OLD!!!! AND WHEN I TRIED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH THE OWNER I BASICALLY GOT NOTHING EXCEPT I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS! HELLO?? ITS A BRIDAL SUITE....NOT A BIRTHDAY SUITE.. I HAD PERSONAL THINGS IN THAT ROOM WHICH I THEN HAD TO LOCK UP IN THEIR OFFICE SO THAT THE 15 YEAR OLDS COULD BE IN THE ROOM WITH THE BOOZE AND FOOD MY HUSBAND AND I PAID FOR. THE MANAGER DID NOTHING BUT HIDE THE REST OF THE NIGHT, NEVER CAME OUT AND TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE MOTHER FROM THE BIRTHDAY PARTY STARTED A PHYSICAL FIGHT WITH ONE OF MY BRIDESMAIDS, THE COPS WERE CALLED, I MISSED A GOOD CHUNK OF MY WEDDING AND ENDED UP IN TEARS ALL BECAUSE THE OWNERS AND MANAGERS DIDNT WANT TO HANDLE A PROBLEM THAT COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN RESOLVED ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY HAVE A HUGE BATHROOM THAT THE BDAY PARTY COULD HAVE USED. I ALSO WENT THE DAY AFTER TO TALK TO THE MANAGER, WHO CONVIENTLY WAS HIDING AGAIN....DONT USE IT IF YOU DONT WANT YOUR DAY RUINED OR THEM TO CATER TO A BIRTHDAY PARTY MORE THEN THEY DO A WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
