Vickie was super helpful and very informative! The venue is beautiful and reasonable, and the food and bar options are very affordable.
We only toured the venue so far, it is definitely top of the list!

    Everything was Perfect

Everything was perfect, Vickie was extremely helpful and always responded right away. Everyone loved the venue and service. Our only complaint would be that our left over dessert went missing.

My husband and I had our wedding on NYE from ceremony to reception here, and everything was phenomenal! Vickie and her staff were professional, flexible and extremely responsive to every idea we had. We toured several places in York and Lancaster that could host our wedding of 200+ guests, and Vickie was what sold us on Wisehaven.

Meetings were easy to schedule, and response time to questions was almost immediate. Vickie was genuinely excited to help make all of our ideas and desires come true, from using the space in a totally new way to creating a personalized ice cream bar for dessert.

The pricing here was low, but that does NOT reflect the service you get. The food was all well prepared, well seasoned, delivered promptly, and the bar was easy to manage as we were allowed to bring in our own liquor in addition to the wine and beer that Wisehaven provides.

We got compliments from guests as well as our photographers, dj and other staff that this was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. None of it would have been possible without Vickie and the amazing staff at Wisehaven! We really cannot speak highly enough about Wisehaven

Ms.Vickie is wonderful. She offered suggestions and allowed for individuality. She helps make your day run smoothly. She works well with vendors and the love hearing that the wedding is at wisehaven. It has been a great experience

The girls at Wisehaven are very helpful with table placement ideas and set up. The food was incredible. Everyone enjoyed it not on complaint. If I every need to host a big party or renew the vows I plan on using Wisehaven in the future. I highly recommend them to anyone that's interested. They have a Huge dance floor and 2nd floor over looking in to the dance floor. I utilized both floors for my reception.

I know there has been a lot of negative feedback for Wisehaven but I must say I was very pleased with the way they handled my wedding. Becki went above and beyond to make my day perfect. I had concerns about different issues I had heard from past guest and I addressed them with Becki and her manager. I was assured that things would run smoothly and they did. For example when I had gone into look at the hall where were having our event I was not happy at the condition of the room. It was very dirty and needed a good cleaning. Also there were ceiling tiles that had water damage and they really were an eyesore. I spoke to management about these issues and by my next visit the issues were resovled. Becki followed through with everything she promised. We were unable to decorate for my wedding the evening before due to another event held in that room, which I knew about from day one. Becki came in on the morning of my wedding and decorated herself and did not charge me a cent. She did a beautiful job. Everything was wonderful as promised. There are only 2 issues I was not happy about. First and foremost it was EXTREMELY HOT!!!!! I was told by management that they were struck by lightening recently and that only 1 of the 4 or 5 air conditioners were working properly. I was told they were unaware of this the day of my wedding. About a month after my wedding I was at another wedding at Wisehaven in the same room as mine (The Terrace Room) and again NO AIR CONDITIONING!!!! My friend was told the same thing that I was that they were struck by lightening. At her reception I was talking to some of the employees working the wedding and I had mentioned the issue with the air conditioner and the fact that we were each told about it being struck by lightening and the employees laughed! They told me that that air had not worked ALL summer and that back in April when it just started getting warm it was not working then! I was definitely NOT pleased to hear this. The employees told me that its been broke forever and that the owners will not put the money into getting it fixed. My second issue was with my cake. It disappeared!!! We had the cake cutting. They cut the cake and displayed it nice on the table for guests to help themselves but at the end of the reception it vanished!!! Never to be found. I was upset about this because there was alot of cake left over and I would have like to take it home with us. In a nut shell Becki was AWESOME and her manager was wonderful too!!! The staff was EXCELLENT to all my guest. One of the waitresses even went around to the tables where there were elderly guests and served them there food so they would not have to walk to the buffet!! That I thought was above and beyond the call of duty. The staff and management are not to blame for the problems with the air conditioning system. That is an issue the owners need to address!!! I was even called the day after my wedding by the manager to apoligize for the air conditioning problem and he told me there were items I had left behind including some unopened bar items which they placed in there office for me to pick up. I of course forgot for about a month to go get them and one day just went in to Wisehaven to pick up my stuff and sure enough everything including unopened bottles of top shelf alcohol were waitng for me in the office. My missing cake is still a mystery but again I can't blame that on the staff. In closing my take on it all Staff and management were WONDERFUL. Owners need to work on keeping the place maintained.

    Wedding Venue after COVID hits

During the process of leading up to the wedding day, Vickie was an extreme help and lovely to work with. She made sure you special day was perfect. They are very affordable for what they offer at their venue. Absolutely loved the space, and was glad to be able to use it for the ceremony as well when things fell through for our church. The only issue I had was that the bartender hired must have been new and was not ready to make drinks for all of our guests, so the line got long quite often. The other thing to note was that those giving us service on the day of the event were slow and did not seem to have much experience. They forgot to refill water, be ready to cut the cake, and be quick and efficient when getting things done. Overall, it was minor things with the service, and the day went extremely well. This venue is great and affordable!

    Good food, very unprofessional

The price and the food at Wisehaven are quite good. The wait staff was also great and very accommodating on our special day. Unfortunately, the owner and the wedding planner were very unprofessional. The day before our wedding, the owner actually yelled at my wife and stormed out of the room. They tried to move our 70 person to their massive 200+ person room and we said no thank you because it would have made our pictures look terrible. Needless to say, we didn't hear from, or see, either of them on or since our actual wedding day, which just falls in line with the unprofessionalism.

I want to start from the beginning and give detail of the problems I had with this vendor. Many Items in which I have paper work and e-mails to back up that things played out differently than what we had agreed upon. To keep things shorter I will write only the major problems I had. I will state first however that the Site itself is very beautiful & the actual taste and look of the food was good.

A few weeks before the wedding we made our last visit the wise haven to finalize details. The woman I had been working with since the beginning introduced me to a new man who would be working with us on the day of the wedding. I found out later he would actually be replacing her.

So knowing just a few weeks before the wedding that someone new had taken over , I was a little nervous but hoped that since I had been very through in my planning that everything would be fine.

We showed up at wisehaven the night before to do our rehearsal. Upon arrival the man was there that I had met a few weeks earlier. He first of all began telling us stories about how horribly the lady was who was there before him and how she had messed so much stuff up. Which wouldnt usually bother me I to like to complain about my co workers and ex co workers now and then too, However, This is unprofessional to do in front of customers. But I wont Press that to much.

He also told us when we got there the he didnt know we would be coming that night for the rehearsal we got there just in time he had been getting ready to leave for the night.

This bothers me for 2 reasons. 1st with a wedding scheduled the next day I think it would be common sense to assume we would be there the night before for a rehearsal. Secondly I had e-mailed him the week before agreeing on a rehearsal time, and got and e-mail back stating that would be fine. Again though luckily he was still there so we avoided any major tragedy.

The next morning we arrived to start getting ready I had e-mailed him a day of itinerary. As soon as I get there he informed me somewhat jokingly that I was 20 minutes late from the schedule I had given him. - This is my first wedding but I doubt that its unreasonable for me to be there 20 minutes late when I still had 2 hours before the ceremony was to start.

Shortly after we arrived. He came up to me and my sister(also my maid of honor) and was telling us that because the weather was bad (we got a few inches of snow) that the party they had booked that night had moved their party up and we now could not have the room for pictures as long as we had talked about. There is only one room in there to take pictures and like I said it was snowing where did they expect us to go. I was trying to be as calm as possible and work this out with him. My sister seeing me getting a little worried stepped in and put her foot down and told him that this was not ok. He interrupted her and told her she was not the bride and that he was not speaking to her & told her she has been giving him attitude since the night before. I lost it at this point! I honestly had to stop for a minute before speaking to him because I could not believe what just came out of his mouth. I have been in the customer service industry for a long time and I have never hear someone speak to their customers that way. It was rude, & unprofessional & now as the bride I was quite worked up by this point. THIS IS MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS VENUE. THEY WERE RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL TO MY FAMILY.

Finally, the thing that I cannot understand is how they cut our cake. We paid 1.00 per person to have them cut our cake. We had a 4 layer cake each layer a different kind of cake, and due to the snow we had some people not show. So we had a large cake for roughly about 65- 70 people. I had discussed with them before that because we were having different kinds of cake it would be best for them to cut it and lay it out on a table so people could pick which kind the liked, and they said the would decorate the plates with some type of sauce to match whatever flavor the cake was. They did not sit it out at a table but rather passed the cake out., Undecorated and in very ,very tiny, unprofessional looking pieces. I would have forgiven this
HOWEVER, when they passed out the cake they did not ask people what kind they wanted!!!! The just started serving from the top down. Unfortunately the top layer was carrot cake. I was not seated when they were serving the cake but when I got back to my seat and saw this I was a little upset, I THE BRIDE was not even asked what kind I wanted and I dont even eat carrot cake! As I am sure a lot of my guest didnt either. My mother went back towards the kitchen to let them know of the problem and there were back there EATING MY CAKE. I truly do not understand why they cut the cake the way they did it just seems common sense to me that that would not be the best way to do things.

To sum it up I was very unhappy with the unprofessional service we received from the venue, their lack of communication between each other, and general lack of common knowledge in the business. Again my biggest issues goes back to the fact that they were very rude to my family and the last thing a bride needs on her wedding day is being worried about what her venue doest remember or didnt write down.

I am writing in respond to Amy's feedback. I am the person who was in charge at Wisehaven previously. I want to apologize to Amy. Things happened (well you can see what happened) and I was no longer there. I had all of Amy's details in writing and I remember the meeting in detail that she describes where I introduced her and her mom to Bill. I had no idea at the time that I was being replaced and that he would replace me!! I would have told you if I had known. I put everything into the computer as I had done for the last 8 years. If you see, there are NO negative review in the last 8 years. None until November, after I left. I want to just let everyone who were my clients that I enjoyed working with all of you in the past, and to those who have to deal with what is going on there now....I am sorry you need to deal with it. If there is anything I can do to be of assistance, please let me know via this site and I will contact you. Thank you!

Hi, I am the mother of the bride and my husband and I paid for our daughter's wedding at Wisehaven on Dec 05,09. I would not recommend this facility to anyone! As my daughter stated in her revue, we arrived the night before for the rehearsal. He apparently started telling people he was going to leave because he didn't remember anyone was coming in. I think it would have been in his best interest to keep that information to himself. But to tell everyone this, seems unprofessional, and has the bridal party starting to wonder if he knows what going on. My daughter and I had met with him a month earlier for the last time and went over everything with him. And there were constant emails and phone calls. The month before when we met with them we also had mentioned to them, how some of the stairs where the bride and her party would be descending from for the wedding had carpet ripped up, I asked if they would repair that before the wedding so they would not fall down the stairs. We also smelled a musty smell very strong throughout the upper floor where we would be having the reception, we asked if they could also correct that. So the night before when we arrived for the rehearsal the stairs were the same and the smell was still there. Bill the gentlemen we had all these conversations with said he didn't have time to fix them so he went over and ripped the carpet off the step. And as far as the smell goes the bride and groom went out and bought febreeze and candles to make it smell a little better; didn't seem to bother the people who work there. The next morning our daughters arrived at wisehaven before my husband and I from our hotel, we got a phone call from them stating how Bill had come to them and said, because of the weather the large company party after us was moving up there event 1-hour early and they would have to proceed to the reception room right after the wedding instead of staying in that room and taking pictures afterwards. We were very upset and told them not to worry and we would take care of it when we got there. When we arrived we heard, what you can read in my daughter's revue. We had not intention of moving we had paid to be there for the time allotted, and as for how Bill spoke to my daughter he's lucky I wasn't present. He is unprofessional and seemed to care more about a couple hundred people coming in for their annual work xmas party, that he was for a hopefully once in a lifetime event for a bride and groom. Bill didn't know anything about a microphone we had asked for a month earlier and a screen for showing a dvd for the reception, he luckily was able to find a screen but no microphone. The next things that happened during the event were, my daughter had purchased engraved champagne glasses for the wedding party and the parents of the bride and groom; two of them are missing after they start clearing the tables. Never to this day found. The wedding cake was cut horribly, they seemed like who ever cut it hadn't cut one before. Then the wedding cake was handed out (4 different kinds) without asking anyone what kind they wanted. When I peeked around the corner in the kitchen to ask why they had done this, they were back there eating the wedding cake. We rarely saw Bill, during the reception, which was probably good; he was off with the other party; but he was suppose to be in charge of our event. To sum it all up we found Bill to be unprofessional, and not customer oriented what so ever. Customer Service is everything, and Bill showed us he had no clue! We will not recommend this facility to anyone. P.S. While we were having our event and the other event was starting, we saw a couple come in who apparently Bill had booked to talk about possibly having there wedding here; he said he couldn't do it now because of everything else going on and could he reschedule them. Why would you book someone to come in at that time to sit down with you and discuss an event while two other events are going on. The couple stopped and asked us if we would recommend them, guess what we said. Does it sound like he knows what he's doing. We drove an 1 1/2 hours to get to this facility for our event; if he had done that to us we would not have been happy. It truly does not sound like he knows whats going on. If I were one of those 6-8 owners of this facility, I think I would be wanting to know without excuses why he dropped the ball and how there is no excuse for talking to customers inappropriately!

I have a lot to say about this venue... First off they changed managers three times in the year from when we booked to the actual wedding date, once weeks before the wedding, and each manager had mysteriously misplaced all of the notes, payments, and discounts that we had previously agreed on. The chef also changed, so what was once amazing food, came out a precooked too hot or too cold mess. When we asked to have a tasting with the new chef they were adamant that the chef was just as good and wouldn't allow it. The Venue was a mess and they were not flexible nor did they want to budge on decorations. An hour before the wedding the manager I had been working with left and had another inexperienced girl come in, My aunt ended up directing the wedding and helping out with the ceremony. Needless to say it is not worth it. What we thought would be a cheaper nicer venue turned out to be just cheap.
