They made for a fun and tasty wedding day

Zoo Atlanta and Proof in the Pudding Catering provided our family with a stimulating and memorable Wedding venue with a delicious meal. As we enjoyed the company of an elephant, giraffes, zebra, and ostriches my granddaughter was married to a wonderful guy. We then enjoyed a wonderful custom meal and the company of family and friends. Hannah Baber and staff catered to our every wish. The day was thoroughly enjoyed!

My wedding day has not even come yet and the Zoo event coordinator is already surpassing all of my expectations in customer service and compromise!! I've changed my mind a few times about different things and she is immediately willing to solve the issue and figure something out. The coordinator took my fiancé and I on a tour throughout the event spaces and explained to us what all could be done in the space. That was the most helpful thing we could have asked for! They are very thorough and provided us with a lot of information to help with our decisions. We are extremely excited to say I do at the Zoo!!

They were absolutely everything we could have asked for, and the price was right. I cannot recommend them too often or too much!

The Zoo Atlanta was my dream wedding come true. That sounds trite, I know, but it really couldn't have turned out any better. My husband and I had some ground rules about where we wanted to get married - it had to be away from Hawaii, it had to be some place where we'd never been before, and it had to be some place where we could entertain our guests for several days. We chose Atlanta because it met all those criteria, but also because you can get married at the Zoo next to the pandas! Andrea, the Zoo's event coordinator, was very helpful in answering all our questions, either by email or conference call. At times this was difficult, since the city of Atlanta had shut down for a few days due to an ice storm, but Andrea was always on top of it, and she worked with our coordinator on the details of the set up. Since we live in Hawaii, we did not get a chance to do a taste test of our menu, but our Southern Buffet and Shrimp and Grits bar were a big hit. Our guests loved the food. My favorite was the grits and the flavored water. I especially enjoyed the private viewing of the pandas. I would do it all over again.

The ambience in this venue is truly unique.

We held our daughter's Bat MItzvah and Kiddish luncheon at the beautiful event space, Savannah Hall. The outside space under the covered balcony was the setting for the ceremony which overlooked the Elephant enclosure. At the end of a delicious lunch inside the gorgeous ballroom, an animal keeper brought in an African Hornbill to meet us. It was a very entertaining and interactive experience. We then invited our guest to a few more behind the scenes animal encounters which delighted all of our age groups. We have fond memories of her special Bat MItzvah that was all made possible by the creativity of the Zoo Atlanta Staff!

    1) When we chose the day, we were told a week later that there could possibly be a benefit that day, and we would have to wait to see if the agency chose our day or the following weekend. Two months later, we were informed that yes, we would need to move our day. We had to keep all invitations, save-the-dates, basically all of our plans on hold until this charity decided what they wanted. I understand that Zoo Atlanta runs on donations, but it made me feel like my wedding day was an extremely low priority – especially since we had already put down our deposit.
    2) Our wedding ceremony was to be held in the large conference room, and the reception was set for the Panda Veranda. We had paid for 6pm-10pm. The day of, it looked as though it might rain. The backup facility was the same conference room, so we were told we needed to move the reception in there. As it turns out, our room was already booked that evening by a group of kids called the Nightcrawlers who apparently spend the night at the zoo. Around 9pm, the zoo staff began turning on all the lights – in the middle of our cutting the cake. My family kept asking them to stop. About 15 minutes later, another staff member told my husband and my maid of honor that as soon as he and I left, they were “kicking everyone out” – both related to me that exact verbiage on separate instances – regardless of whether we had paid for another hour. It was clear that they were pushing us out so the Nightcrawlers could use the room.
    3) We had paid for unlimited wine and beer until 9pm, and then the bar would close. All through the evening, if you sat down your drink and turned away, they would take it. So, unremarkably, the “unlimited” drinks ran out around 8:30 because they were confiscating half-full glasses. Again, the staff was trying to clear out our reception for the slumber party.

I wrote a letter to the zoo - they have yet to respond. Choose a vendor who won't act like you are a burden on them.
