1 month to go - freaking out!

ti, on August 10, 2022 at 6:58 AM Posted in Planning 1 12

Omg, I am really started to feel the stress now! 1 month to the day, and it still feels like there's a lot to do!

Things that still need sorting: jewelry, belt, dress lining, arch, flowers, cake, cake stand, decisions re food, meeting with the venue re ceremony, chair hire, taxis, my shoes, beauty appointments.

I am s-t-r-e-s-s-e-d! Does anybody have any tips for how to get through this period?

My suggestion would be to handle one task at a time. For example you mentioned the cake, what exactly still needs done? Are you unsure if flavor or design? Or have you not even selected a bakery? If you haven't selected a bakery I would handle that sooner than later. Once the cake is decide then you should be able to find the stand for the cake. We borrowed one from our bakery.

Agreed with the previous poster. If you haven't found a cake vendor or flower vendor, I would try to lock those down ASAP. If you are handling that yourself or have found the vendors but just don't have the *details* figured out, that is much different!

Are you saying you have already hired these people (cake baker, hair & makeup artists, florist, chair rental company) and just need to make final decisions? Or have you not hired any of these vendors yet?

    Hello Brittney:

I feel your pain. I texted the hotel information to all of my guests in March, then followed up with a Save the Date, with the same information and at least 10 people have asked me, "Hey, what's the hotel information". I cannot find it.

Also, I have had to go to people's homes to get their credit card and make their room reservation for them. My wedding is in Vegas.

My dress came and I have two inches too much assets. I have been walking, half starving myself, eating spinach and feeling like time is running out.

Having said that, I started making a list of what is left and how much it will cost me. Like on August 13th, I have to put down $1k to order the food for my buffet wedding.

Make a list of what you really need and can realistically afford. Also, make yourself a FREE Wedding budget spreadsheet. It's a REAL eye opener.

I am sitting here now, cruising the internet for wedding transportation. I just asked me fiance how was he getting to the wedding. He said, "I don't know". Lol! We women have to do everything!! So, I have to get a 12 person Sprinter Van for the groom and groomsmen to get t the wedding, another vehicle for myself and my bridesmaids and a limo bus for my 40 guests. I am having an open bar., therefore nobody will be driving on my wedding night.

Good Luck! Get yourself a bottle of wine and a hot bath when feeling stressed.

It will all work out. Find some comfortable shoes for the reception to dance in.

    Best regards

    Portia

Ahh that's me not being very clear! We are handling flowers and cake ourselves...

My mum is a gardener so she's been growing flowers for the wedding and obviously we can't really do anything about flowers until a day or two before.

Re the cake, I am gluten free (coeliac!) and gluten free-only vendors are insanely expensive, just out of our budget. I can't use a vendor that makes gluten cakes in the same kitchen as the likelihood of cross contamination is just too high with flour and its nature to float around everywhere!

So I will also make the cake myself. I've taken a few days off before the wedding to do it and I'm going to do a trial run in the next week or so.

I know that I signed up to doing a lot of DIY with getting married this year rather than next year (when we would have had time to save up), but it does feel rather overwhelming at times!

The only thing I haven't hired/booked yet is chairs (my partner booked taxi yesterday, phew)

Breathe Bridget! Everything is going to be okay. What I did was crest a checklist and worked on the things I needed everyday and cross them off as I went. Jewelry, belt, dress arch and cake stand can all be purchased on Etsy. For a reasonable price. You might also luck up on amazon for the dress arch. Also, delegate. If there are some things your fiancé can do that will work as well. Most importantly try not to stress. You got this!!

I feel you!!! I think I am sitting pretty good but then I will look at something and think ok that still needs done and then start listing everything that still needs done and start to panic. We are picking up our marriage license today though!

The good news is that my arch has just been crossed off the list! My mum's boyfriend very sweetly made it for us.

My mum's first attempt at decorating it is perfect, we're just going to ditch the roses going down the sizes and leave everything else Smiley heart

I feel as though everything that is left has to be done/overseen by myself, with the exception of hiring chairs if needed I guess

People also keep reaching out to me either just chatting about the wedding (in a nice way) or trying to meet up with me before the wedding like sis, I have two jobs I do not have time to see anybody right now lmao. We're trying to pull this off in just over 4 months I need everyone to leave me alone 😅

Cake stand... I don't even know what you call those cake stands that have like 3 separate platforms for the cake to sit on

I've got a checklist but just looking at it makes me want to curl up and die lol

Ohhh that's good going, the legal side of things is so stressful. We are getting legally married on the 31st so also stressing a bit about that as would like a nice dress I can wear there - was thinking I could also wear it for the brunch the day after our 'proper' wedding

Your arch looks absolutely gorgeous! Hopefully things are falling into place and getting checked off your list. If the cake ends up being too much stress maybe make a smaller gf to cut and for you to enjoy but have store bought sheet cakes or another easy dessert in the back for everyone else. When you say a 3 platform cake stand do you mean tiers like below , amazon has a few different kinds, also check your local craft stores, the brand wilton makes some too.
