I don't understand why people are so caught up on the size of the diamonds. I walk into a store and the first thing the clerk says to me "1 carat or 2? I said neither, I have small fingers and even 1 carat would look huge on me and she gives me this are you crazy look. I have seen some ugly ass big diamonds that look like they came straight out of a gumball machine, and some gorgeous smaller diamonds that when the sun hits them just right, they practically blind me. Before ring browsing, I always thought that carat was the size of the diamond, it's not. It's the WEIGHT, and depending how it's cut your less than a carat diamond can look like a carat. It makes me sad when the first question someone asks is "how many carats?" -_-
Edited because I realize I should have said the following: This experience was actually after I got my ring, we were just looking at bands and as a joke I said somehting about wanting diamond earings. The lady heard diamond, assumed ring, and proceeded to ask.
