I can’t believe I’m posting this... it’s been 1 year since we were married (well, 1 year as of yesterday, but I was too busy to post lol). Since our anniversary was a Tuesday, my husband took off work both Monday and Tuesday and we had an awesome couple of days together. We went to the beach on...

I can’t believe I’m posting this... it’s been 1 year since we were married (well, 1 year as of yesterday, but I was too busy to post lol). Since our anniversary was a Tuesday, my husband took off work both Monday and Tuesday and we had an awesome couple of days together. We went to the beach on Monday, and to a botanical garden and state park on Tuesday. Then we wrapped up the evening of our anniversary by eating our leftover wedding cake (it was actually pretty good, considering it had been in the freezer for a year!) while watching our wedding video. It certainly wasn’t the celebration we were expecting (before covid, we were debating between Hawaii and Spain lol) but it was perfect in its own way.

Our first married year was full of ups and downs: it began with both my husband and I getting promotions and moving into our first home together (and all 3 of those things happened within a 3 week span!) But then it all seemed to go downhill from there: we’ve been trying to get pregnant for 9 months now with no luck so far, and of course, the pandemic.

I think the most valuable thing I’ve learned during this first year, is how important it is to have a partner you can share the absolute worst of times with. I know that sounds terrible, but it’s true. Life is crazy, uncertain, and fragile, and it is so important to have a partner who’s shoulder you feel safe crying on, and who you genuinely enjoy being quarantined at home with for months. I’m fortunate to have the most amazing partner to share both the good and the bad with.

Overall I am full of gratitude... for my incredible husband, for the memories from our beautiful wedding, and for the first year of our married lives together—even if we aren’t where we hoped we’d be, the most important thing is that we’re together.

Anyway, just thought I’d share our 1 year recap with you all ☺️ this community was the most wonderful source of support and comfort as I planned my wedding… whether I was seeking advice, empathy, or shared excitement. I thought by now that I’d be moved on from coming on here, but honestly it is just such a happy place for me, seeing everyone plan/have their weddings and being able to help sometimes, and talking to the great people that are part of this community. You are all awesome, and I’m so happy to be part of the WeddingWire family!
