Hi hi,

Has anyone heard of or may be planning to take their honeymoon on their first anniversary? I heard someone mention that it was a good way to relax after the stress of planning and the overall expenses of the wedding, as well as being able to save so you can actually go where you really want to for your honeymoon. Any thoughts?

As much as I'd prefer to do an immediate honeymoon, because of various circumstances (still trying to get new jobs for both of us, moving to another city for both of us, finances tight for me) it may make sense to wait. However, we intend to start our family right away (he's 51, I'm 33) so waiting a year may mean we'd have to figure out who could watch an infant for us. So it's likely we'll still do an immediate honeymoon.

Sounds like a great idea and an extra special way to celebrate your first year of marriage!

We took a day or 2 after at the local hotel to decompress but a big trip a year later is what we talked about doing! Though now we're going to try to go somewhere in October instead because we'll have a 2 month old by our 1st anniversary!

    That sounds lovely MrsK

FH wants to go to PR maybe right after but we'll see. If someone is generous enough to "sponsor" our little trip then I'm all for it lol

I completely understand April and I'm kind of in the same boat. I turned 40 in Dec and FH just had his bday on the 12th. I'm sure I'll be able to find a sitter since everyone is waiting patiently for my first little one lol

We decided to take a mini-moon after our wedding. We wanted to do something right after our wedding to make it seem like an actual honeymoon and not just another vacation. Due to limited funds we will be taking a short cruise and then for our 1 year we'll do our dream 1 Year Anniversary Moon.

We're delaying the honeymoon due to time off work. I think it will be less stressful as well, and we'll have a lot more free time to plan.

Yes. My husband and I did this. It was perfect. It let us take a breather from planning our wedding... and quite honestly it let us save a little bit to fully enjoy our honeymoon. Or, as we refereed to it, out "one year moon".

Were doing that! Just because our jobs only allow us a week of vacation per year. Plus right after the wedding not only is it tiresome to our wallets 🤣 but also to us physically since I’m sure we’ll probably get like no sleep that week. Even if we do though that’s a lot going on...to then have to rush around for the honeymoon. We just think it’s all around better to wait until the one year for the honeymoon so we have plenty of time to save up and enjoy ourselves when it comes.

We're not waiting a whole year, but we are getting married in October of this year and plan to take our honeymoon in May of 2020. There are so many reasons we want to wait, time, money, weather at our destination, her son is getting married in December. If I'm going to go on my first and only honeymoon I want to do it right and not feel rushed. This way we can take 2 weeks instead of just one.

One of my good friends just celebrated her 1 yr wedding anniversary by going on her and her hubbys HM. I think it’s great, you have plenty of time to plan after the wedding not to mention save $! Over all I think it gives you something big to look forward to after the wedding! : )
