100 Day Left!!! Weight Loss Advise Please!

*Jess*, on February 3, 2011 at 10:48 AM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 26

First off I want to say I am soooooo excited I am so close to marrying my best friend!! It gets more and more exciting the closer we get and now we are in the process of making the final details etc. I remember when we had over 400 days and here we are at exactly 100! Its gone by so fast.

Now for the advise part. I had all these lofty goals of losing 70lbs when we first got engaged. But in a long engagement I kept thinking...oh I have plenty of time. I have lost and gained the same 10 lbs! that's it. Now it's crunch time and i need to shape up fast. we have 100 days and a little over 3 months. I know all the healthy ways to loose weight and trust me I'm working on it. but I need real advise on how to loose weight rather quickly, my dress is still about 1 size too small. Please give me all the best advise you have! I need to knock off at least 15lbs, maybe 20 and tone up my arms and tummy. and just so you guys know, I am just in the obese category so its needed!

Wow! I didn't even realize I had 100 days left until I saw your post! I'm with you, where did the time go! We got engaged last year, just before Valentine's day and I remember looking at our countdown and thinking it would never get here! I can't believe it's about 3 months away!

I am in the same boat as you....15 pound weightloss would be GREAT! I don't know how realistic it is for you (I have 3 boys so finding the time is hard) but I work out to Jillian Michaels No More Trouble Zones 6 out of 7 days a week (I usually take off Saturdays). I honestly started seeing results in my stomach, legs and arms within two weeks of sticking to it. Once I get in to the rhythm of a routine it's easy to stick with. I also started a gym membership at one of those inexpensive gyms and plan on going 4 or 5 times a week, doing an hour of cardio (running, elliptical, etc) each time. In two weeks I have lost 7 lbs. I'm sure that will slow down, but I figure a pound a week from now until our date is great

I second P90X (especially the lean routine). Also mix in with Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred. Cut all soda, salt, sweets, and processed foods. ramp up the vieggie intake and drink tons of water. Good luck!!

Also, eating healthy comes almost easy for me. I cut out sugars and most complex carbs...and don't really miss them. I love lots of protein and veggies. Smiley smile Good luck!!!! It's going to be here before we know it!

I highly recommmend Atkins, or a no/low carb diet. I lost 30 pounds in 30 months by following this meal plan:

Breakfast: Yogurt (Yoplait or Dannon) and an Apple

    Snack - Light Mozzarella Stick

Lunch - Salad with light dressing (light ranch is a must for me) and chicken or ham in it.

Snack - Fruit, bananan, apple, whatever you have/like

Dinner - Big salad, cucumber, tomatoes, onion, whatever you like.

Following that meail plan was the best for me, I am getting back on it now. I also work out 5 days a week in the morning. I know if I wait until after work to go to the gym, I wont go. Also, I try to stay some what active on the wknds, instead of just chillin on the couch. I try to do at least 30 min of cardio on Sat or Sunday too since I don't go to the gym on those days. It helped me to get back into the routine by writting everything I can eat down, and not adding on to the list.

Good luck!!! You can totally lose 15 - 20lbs by your wedding!!

I agree with Jenny with the low carb diet. I'm on Atkins and I've lost 15lbs in 4 weeks. I would have been more but I cheated on a meal and it threw me off. Then I started exercising, but I have lost lots of inches! I was in the same boat as you with the dress issue, but I went for my first fitting and it looked so much better this time than the last three times I've put it on. I have a corset back so if I lose more it's not a big deal it'll just look better. As for low carb, I would recommend Atkins but yogurt is usually pretty high in carbs as well are most fruits. I would say stick on induction for a few weeks which is a 20 carb limit per day. But I actually really enjoy the diet. I don't feel deprived of anything. If I have a craving for something I just find a low carb version of it online, and my FH is doing it too and I've not had a complaint so far food wise. It's the getting up at 4:30 to walk 2 miles that I hear him gripe about, but then again so am I haha. Good Luck!

I'm right there with you, date twin. 100 days. WOW!! Just think....tomorrow will start the double digits. EEK! (A good EEK, but an EEK just the same)

As for me, I want to lose another 25 lbs. I'm not sure if I'll get there, but I'm trying to keep track of my calories using www.myfitnesspal.com and going to the gym. It sucks. We both know it. lol

Here is the website for atkins. Just go under programs and look for induction or phase 1. http://www.atkins.com/Homepage.aspx

Also sparkpeople.com has been working for me I chart all of my food and exercise and there are a million recipes on there, and people get really creative with their food so I'm sure you'll find something you like. I plan on being on this for a while but I'm okay with it. I actually really like it. If you have any questions just ask!

I just saw on "The Doctors" find the book 400 Calorie Fix..... you eat 4 - 400 calorie meals a day... .it tells you what to order if eating on the run, and what to make at home. Average person lost 2lbs per week and learned the visual cues of what to eat to stay at that calorie intake and lose even after they stopped studying the book. They also have a "fast Track" option in the book where most people loss 8-10 lbs in 2 weeks.

I drink lemon water all day long. I was amazed at how much water I retained.

I would go with the Special K plan or the yogurt plan. They promise about 5-10 in 2 weeks. I would also start walking.

I'd skip the apple for breakfast.... all it really has in it is sugar.... wasted carb for so early in the morn, when you really need more fiber.

And I just read an article about Cheerios (Reg kind). Eat 1 bowl for breakfast and another somewhere throughout the day.... ALONG with all normal meals. Work out for approx 30-40 min every other day.... and it helps in losing the weight. Thinking its something with the oat in the cereal.

I've joined Myfitnesspal.com (although not good at logging on), and it really does help to see where all your calories, fat, and fiber are coming from during the day. Its about eating the right foods at the right time.

@Denise, it's actually much better to consume your carbs in the morning vs at night because it gives you energy for your day.

That's what I heard too Irin.....Carbs in the morning is great because you will burn through it.....more lean protein and vegetables for lunch and dinner Smiley smile

Also, something I've heard alot of lately (including on Dr Oz earlier this week Smiley winking, is to do your cardio in the morning (if you can) on an empty stomach. If you eat and do cardio, you will be burning what is in your stomach. If you work out on an empty stomach, you will burn your stored fat.

I'm no fitness expert, but I'm starting to put that in to practice this week, so I'll let you know how that goes. lol

Careful with the low-carb. I did it for a week and it make me feel drunk and irritable. I'm laying off the wheat and potatoes and eating much more oatmeal, brown rice, barley, etc. It's helped a lot.

I always workout on an emty stomach in the morning. After I'm finished I find that I'm hungry and more apt to make better meal choices.

Honestly, I would be speaking with a seamstress about whether the dress could be let out a little, rather than trying to lose weight quickly. Just before your wedding is the absolute worst time to be trying to lose weight. All the stress tends to make it hard to avoid gaining weight. It's easy to end up so demoralized that it takes away from your big day. Just remember, he fell in love with you at about the weight you are now, so he'll love you even if you don't lose it.

Try spinning classes... great cardio for your whole body and you burn 700-900 calories in the hour if you push yourself!

@M&M that's what I've heard too about working out first thing on an empty stomach. I only have time to work out in the morning so it works out well for me! I follow it up with a protein shake.

@Jessica good move with the whole grains vs simple carbs. That's more of the nutrients your body needs.

Overall nutrition wise, if I'm working out hard, I try to stick to a diet higher in lean protein to help build that muscle mass. For me, this usually means more protein shakes and things like cottage cheese, egg whites, chicken, etc.

Honestly, the best thing you can do is just try to eat a clean diet. Nothing processed, nothing white. Fresh veggies, good cuts of lean meat, and if you're going to have carbs, brown rice, barley, whole grain couscous, etc. Throw out the mac and cheese, french fries, and chicken nuggets!

I agree with 2d Bride. With all the stress of planning a wedding, it's hard to fit in time to try and lose weight and log what you are eating. I am under the 100 day mark and no I didn't lose the weight like I wanted to, but the way I see it, I am going to look great regardless. I'm all for losing weight and being fit, but don't set these high standards for weight loss at such a busy time in your life. If you can, just get your dress let out. Good Luck!
