One of my cousins went Keto and lost 10 pounds in the first few weeks he went on it (he went on it for other health benefits and didn't even want to lose the weight). And my mom has been Keto for about 8 months now and has lost almost 40 pounds! You could definitely lose 15 pounds in 100 days if you follow a super strict keto diet -- no carbs, no sugar, high fat (bullet proof coffee, MCT oil) and lots and lots of veggies!

Ive lost 10 pounds using a nutritional cleansing system in 7 weeks,(I have 40 more to go) but this really isn't meant for short term diets it's more of a lifestyle change.
I would suggest eating fresh foods, cooking at home vs going out to eat. Drink lots of water, get in the gym 3 to 4 days a week.
Ive heard eating slower helps you to not over eat. Also a lot of time we think we are hungry when we are really just dehydrated.
    Hope this helps, goodluck!

You need to lose a pound a week and that is absolutely doable. No special diets are needed. Eat healthier, lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats. Use healthy cooking methods with little oils, no sauces or gravies. Any starches should be whole fiber. Drink lots of water. Move. You need to exercise. Walk during breaks and lunch. Stop drinking soda, even diet soda. Eliminate or cut way back on added sugars found in sweets, coffee additives, etc.

I'm on the keto diet for other health reasons. And its CRAZY, I lost wieght what felt like instantly.

I'm literally eating breakfast right now, and its soooo yummy. Soft boiled egg, breakfast sausage, an avocado, and a bit of goat brie.

There have been more and more studies about good fat. Now the kind found in chips and candy, but the kind found in things like avocado, and meat.

Cutting sugar is the biggest difference you can make to be honest.

Keto isn't just about eating fat. Its mainly about eating less than 20 net carbs and keeping your protien up so you dont lose any muscle mass. You dont have to hit your macros for fat because your body should have enough fat in it to burn for energy. Also, it's not like your eating lard. You want to make sure that the fat your are eating on keto, are healthy fats, like avocados, olive oil, olive oil mayo, grass fed butter, and such. So my advice for keto, if you want to do that, is to find a keto macro calculator, there are a ton of good ones if you Google it, and then whatever it says your carb intake is, treat that as a limit, treat your protien as a goal, and treat your fat as more or less a suggestion. Definitely get in enough fat, but dont jusy stick to bacon and cheese. Your leafy greens are just as important. Also, I would get keto test strips because otherwise your just guessing and you will never know for certain if your in ketosis or not, which is kind of pointless if your just guessing... also, I track all my foods using my fitness pal, which is a GREAT thing to do, doing keto or not, because people dont realize how many, or little, calories, protien, carbs, fat, etc they are getting daily!
I have been doing keto for 3 weeks now and have lost over 10 lbs, so I know it works for me, but I doesn't always work for everyone...

I'm keto now and it's really amazing how great I feel. I'm only a few weeks in, to be honest, but it's not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I've seen such success with friends and family with this that I thought I'd give it a try - and I say this as a person who's fairly anti-diet. In fact, I've never followed a "diet" before other than just generally eating clean. Anyway, there are so many resources out there than can help you make sound and healthful choices.

I'd start here: https://www.ruled.me/guide-keto-diet/. That site will give you an overview, and also has a macros calculator that will tell you what you should be consuming daily, tailored specifically to you. It involves a bit of math but it is more helpful in the long run to know your numbers.

I'd also check out the sub-reddit keto group - tons and tons of information and lots of encouragement and support.

For a more balanced approach, I would recommend listening to this podcast: https://www.healthfulpursuit.com/. She's great and promotes less restrictive versions of keto, and encourages you to listen to your body and not necessarily follow hard and fast "rules".

FWIW, I don't bother with test trips or anything - I just pay attention and do what feels right. Overall I have more energy, I've lost weight, I am more motivated to pick up my yoga practice again after falling off the wagon a while back, and it just feels good. It's not for everyone. But as a non-dieter, I am so far enjoying this way of eating.

***PS - I also encourage tracking food on MFP regardless of whatever health path you choose.

I had a lot of luck when I was actually put on dietary restrictions by a doctor to figure out if a food allergy was causing my migraines. I cut out all sugar, dairy, red meat, gluten, and alcohol. It was a pain but I learned to cook tasty and natural meals. Now I try to do at least one "natural" meal per day. It's basically the paleo diet. Lots of protein, veggies, and fruits.

Do you gain the weight back when you stop the keto diet and just go back to healthy eating?

Let me know if you want to work through Keto together.

I started Keto a couple of weeks ago and have lost about 5 -7 lbs so far. I love the bulletproof coffee! My struggle has been meal prep and having everything with me so I don't need to eat out during the day. I need to really focus and get down as many lbs as I can to not only meet a goal (it's set for October) but to get to as great of a place I can be by my wedding date - 7/12/2018. 70 days to go and counting!

You do gain some weight back, as with all restrictive diets. All bodies are different, but as long as you stay eating healthy after going off keto, you shouldn't gain more than 3-5 lbs as with keto you lose ALOT Of water weight at first, and when going back to eating sugar and carbs, you'll gain back that water weight. At least that's what happened to me when I went off it for a week (it my was 21st birthday and went shopping with BFF for her wedding dress) and I gained back like 3 of the 9 lbs I lost within the first 2 days but then stopped at that I stayed at a steady weight for the rest of the week and i was eating "bad" as in birthday cake, olive garden, cookies, etc. So if you stay eating healthy and not a whole ton of carbs and little to no artificial sugar, you should be able to keep off 90%+ of the weight off, but it all depends on each person..

I started my weight loss in February and have lost 20 pounds, I went to a nutritionist and got B-12 shots that boost your energy, I would recommend you to go to a professional and cut bread, cheese, reduce your alcohol intake to 1/4 of what you usually drink and absolutely no sweets. It’s hard but it pays off Smiley smile

I had heard a little bit about keto but this has been very eye opening about the keto diet. I thought it was all about Fat Bombs which sound completly disgusting but i understand them better now. Might even suggest to my mom and best friend (my MOH). Thank you everyone for the clarifications

I'm not a fan of keto or other diets like it. I think the best way to lose weight and keep it off is to make small, sustainable changes over time. You have a pretty good amount of time to work with here, so 15 pounds shouldn't be a major challenge.

Starting with your diet: this is always going to be the biggest factor in your weight loss. No amount of exercise can solve a bad diet. Start by cutting out any and all empty calories you can. No junk food, no sugary drinks and as little processed food as possible. If you aren't already start counting your calories with an app like https://www.myfitnesspal.com/. You'll quickly see how much of your daily allowance can get wasted on junk that's not giving you any nutrition. Also make sure you're drinking enough water! There are tons of generic water tracking apps that can help you here.

As for exercise: I've had a ton of success with Beachbody programs. I used Autumn Calabrese's 21 Day Fix program a few years to get myself in shape and have been using their programs ever since. She's actually got a new program that's a little more intensive called 80 Day Obsession that might be good be for you: https://www.beachbodyondemand.com/programs/80-day-obsession

If it looks like a bit too much for you there's also an intro program made for easing yourself into the full 80 days: https://www.beachbodyondemand.com/programs/a-little-obsessed

If you're not looking to spend any money though they've got a bunch of free recipes and workouts available on their blog if you take the time to do a little digging.
