$1,000 budget!!!!!

Congrats Jackie!!! So glad you had a great day, I know $1000 budget is tight, but totally doable. My first wedding went just under that. Thanks for sharing all of your tips, I am over my present budget right now, but I have a few more ideas that I was considering, so maybe I will be able to use your advice.

Everyone's budget is different, and that budget will make everyone's wedding different.

Yes, every one's budget is different. and you know what, my wedding wasnt what i alway's dreamed of but it was one i can defiantly live with. :-) and yes, it's true you cant have a movie start wedding on a $1000 budget. however it is possible to have a very nice wedding and reception. depending on how much space you have and how much time you have will make a diffrence. for example, we didnt finish decorating it was getting really late and we still had to clean up and drive people home and check in to our hotel eat dinner shower and go to sleep. so we called it quits. but that's ok. i just had to let it be. and you know what, i didnt get one complaint. i guess no one noticed.

(to all of you) i had my doubts and we struggled. but it worked out. and i know (now) how hard it is to make a tight budget work and i wanted to help all my fellow brides out there stick to there budgets the best i can. i hope this post helps them. if any brides are in fresno/sanger ca i can tell them exactly where i went.

Jackie you helped me put things into perspective because I have been so caught up and stressed out I was going make things nice and enjoyable for our guest on such a tight budget, so thank you.

@Erica & Maranda: one good thing to remember if you dont want to spend a lot of money on food dont host your event during dinner time. (5pm-7pm) guest will usually show up expecting to be well feed. instead start your reception at 2 or 3 pm. (just after lunch and before dinner. hope this helps too. ;-)

Right on! Now you've given me hope!!!! and an idea or two. I already have a friend marrying FH and I. I have my cousin to do my hair and makeup. We already saved a lot of money for most of our attire. Plus, we're going to use the FH's lightsaber collection.

Another good tip, check around for suit reatail or outlet stores! the one here iin fresno ca is called the fresno suit outlet we bought my husbands suit (shirt, tie, pants jacket and hanky) plus we got alterations we paid $118 (tax included)

I had been going back and forth about so many things, finally decided on having the ceremony in a park(Free) and our niece has a nice big yard so we decided to have a more casual reception so the reception location(free) I am making all the bouquets, programs, centerpieces, my niece's friend is going my hair and make up because she is in school and needs the practice, and I trust her work because she has does it before for me(120.00), our pictures including engagement, bridal session and wedding video(550.00), his tux is free because we are renting 6, the DJ is a family friend(125.00). With my dress and the stuff that goes with it(600.00) I am still working on the cost of supplies, and the table and chair rentals. My mom is providing transportation, so I don't have to budget for that. So far I am on budget and I am trying very hard to keep it that way. So that pretty much leaves me with a little over 1600.00 to pull this off and I hoping to come in under budget.
