Hi! my name is jackie, and i got married april 28th 2012. AND i did it on only $1,000!! that's it! just one grand! when i first started out i posted in an attempt to get some helpful suggestions from brides. i got a lot of negative feed back people telling me it wasnt possible. well, i did it!!! and i'm here to help all my fellow budget brides the best i can by telling you how we did it. our guest list was 50. then it went up to nearly 150! but we took control and cut it back to 75 only about 50 showed. :-) but we had enough food to serve 75. here are my money saving tips...

1. use craigslist or other 2nd hand sell websites.(remember people are usually willing to barter!!)

2. hit yard sales and thrift stores! and the "whole sale" stores that specialize in party supply's.

3. hostest/wounder bread store if you have one in your town.

4.have friends/ family willing to help?! USE THEM!!! (trust me!)

5. dollar tree! not every store carries the same items/products.

to be continued......

Wow... I wish I knew my area better to try for a park and knew someone that had a big enough space.

I LOVE your ideas for thriftiness! I am planning on doing quite a bit of $1 store shopping as well! Our wedding was pushed up 10 months and naturally our budget HAD to be cut back. I found my dress at Ross for $30 and it was originally going to be my reception dress, but bc we changed our venue and idea for the wedding, it will now be my ceremony dress for our outdoor, informal, picnic/potluck park wedding!!! Way to go girlfriend!!!!!

We had and issue and had to start all over 4mo before the wedding then had another issue and had to move locations and find a preacher then week of the wedding!!! oh!

and if you or any one you know lives in an apartment complex or mobile home park most of them have rec hall's! and can be rented very cheap or in some cases with just a deposit that is returned after you return the hall to its original form.

Here's another tip: when and if possible, DO attend bridal show's. and fyi most FH's attend so your guy wont be the only one there if you can get him to go. some city's have free show's so do feel free to check around. and plz note that buying tickets early IS a good thing!! you usually will get so bonus or prize at the door. hope this tip helps!
