10/29/2022 too close for Halloween?

B. Reilly, on January 2, 2022 at 7:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
Hi y’all!

My fiancé and I are in the midst of booking for 10/29/2022 (one of the only dates available) and now I have this sudden irrational fear that the date is too close for comfort for Halloween. Am I overthinking?
The only other dates that the venue has is 11/5/2022. My fiancé loves the 10/29/2022 date and absolutely loves the venue as well, and do not want to change because I’m a member at the venue/country club. Help!

If you are really set on your date and the venue I would absolutely keep your original date. As long as it’s not on October 31st I don’t think it should cause any issues.

I would definitely keep your date if it’s the only one available and the one you and your fiancé love! Is there a particular concern you have with your wedding being close to Halloween?

I’m a big date guy and I just thinking about the future with kids and for me and my fiancé to be limited on traveling close to Halloween.

Ahhhh. Well yes, if you plan on travelling for your anniversary, then taking into consideration holidays with children is a smart idea! If that's the case, then I would just move it to the 11/5 date. It's only a week later, and it eliminates your concern.

We got married on 10/31/21. So of course I think your date is perfectly fine 😉 Lol. Having an anniversary on/near a “holiday” doesn’t mean you can’t still celebrate both. For example, DH and I decided to have themed costume parties to celebrate each anniversary and then do a weekend getaway.

Even if you're planning on having kids and want to be able to get away for your anniversary every year, I don't see this as an issue. If you wanted to travel to celebrate, you'd likely end up picking the weekend before or weekend after vs. the actual day anyway - your anniversary date won't fall on a weekend every year, obviously. So for the years where it falls on a weekend and that weekend is also Halloween weekend, you'd just go a week earlier or later. A friend of mine got married 10/27 and she now has 2 young kids and hasn't had any issues finding ways to celebrate her anniversary around Halloween, as far as I know.

Thank you!! And I already purchased a few items this past Halloween season, in prep for our first anniversary party. Looking forward to it! 🎃
