Obviously, I need to start working out to lose weight and get toned. I'm starting at 182lbs 5"4 23 years old. I want to at least get to 150-160lbs BEFORE my wedding. Shouldnt be too hard right? Almost thinking of getting a "Goals Dress" so it'll push me harder to lose weight so I can look perfect in...

Almost thinking of getting a "Goals Dress" so it'll push me harder to lose weight so I can look perfect in my dress but then again, What if when the time comes and my dress doesn't fit??? Can you share your stories with me please? Good and bad. Post pics if you would like too Smiley smile

I'm almost twice your age and I started at 183. If I can do it, you can do it. A big part of weight loss is food. I've lost 20lbs on weight watchers w/ portion control, making better food choices and becoming more active. I like ww bc the weighins make you accountable but also at the meetings you get encouragement from others. you see that weight loss isn't just a straight path down. One meal you might slip, but you get back on track.

I bought my dress in the size I am now even though I plan to Lose more weight. If anything it motivates me more. I can go down but I def can't go up in size.

Don't do the goals dress! That's too much pressure. I'm also not going dress shopping til june of next year. I'm 5'2" and 175...and would like to be at 125/130 for mine 8/2019. My FI and I joined a gym and signed up for 1 personal training session a week...so at the very least we will go once a week lol just pace yourself, eat right, start small and build it up. It's about more than just the day, it's about the best of your lives together.

As a side note, please do not cut out your carbs. Eat better carbs (brown rice, sweet potatoes, etc), but do not eliminate them from your diet as you often see suggested without the direction of a medical professional. Especially if you're going to be working out, your body needs those.

Definitely don't buy a goals dress. Even if you lose weight, it may not be exactly where you want it to be from, and depending on how fitted the dress is, even losing weight, it may still not fit right.

Also, you have to find what works for you. Personally, I find plans that are very laid out and stricter to be easier than just counting calories. For me, its easier to just stay away from junk food, than try to do so in moderation because I start justifying and going downhill. Look at something like weight watchers, beachbody, kayla itsines, or just counting calories and try until you find something that you can stick with and that works for you

I'm in the same boat as you as wanting to loose some lbs before the day (also a 2019 wedding) So we have A LOT of time before then so do it right. start small like diet changes and daily exercise. DO NOT buy a dress you want to try to fit in. If you really wanna do that to see where you are, buy a cheap cocktail dress you can wear out to dinner or parties so you can 1. use it often and 2. gauge where you wanna loose the most weight. But not your wedding dress.

Start with small goals (such as 5 lbs by Christmas). Eat clean, work out, and reward yourself for your successes.
