18 Month Engagement

Kourtney, on March 8, 2019 at 6:49 PM Posted in Planning 1 11
Hello guys! Me and my FH recently got engaged on 2/20/19. Due to me being in graduate school, and not graduating until May 2020, we decided to have our wedding in September 2020. I’ve only been seeing 12 month checklists, does anyone know of a 18 month one? I’m so excited! I’ve been breathing wedding these past 2 weeks, but I know I won’t be able to solely focus on it for long due to school.

We will have been engaged for 20 months by the time we say "I do" on November 9th. For the first 8 months I really just focused on booking my vendors. Venue 1st (and we still had to push the date 2 months because they were already booked!) and our food, liquor, and DOC were included otherwise we would have booked those right away too, DJ, photographer, photobooth, an hair. I am not a big flower person so we wont be using a florist otherwise that's another biggy. After that I kind of just coasted until 12 months out. I started collecting things, did a lot of pinning, bought everything to DIY STD's and centerpieces, and kind of just made sure I had everything ready to go once I hit that 12 month mark. I grabbed a couple of checklists and combined them to make sure it had everything and still checked things off as I got them done. Once I hit that 12 month mark, I took my checklists and basically gave myself 2-3 things to do each week. Some stuff was already done which was a bonus and helped me plan around out of town trips etc.

My FH & I are having a 16 month engagement. I haven't found a wedding timeline that goes past 12 months. However, I do look at it for reference but I've went ahead and booked the most important things for the wedding.

We have been engaged now for 18 months and let me tell you it has flown by. I made up my own timeline and booked my vendors as soon as possible starting with the venue. I liked that I would have pick of whomever I wanted by booking so early and if you wait to long the prices are likely to go up each year. In August when we get married it will have been 2 years and 3 days since we got engaged.

We also have an 18 month engagement but it's flown by already. We were engaged in December 2018 and getting married June 2020. We have booked our venue (ceremony, reception, catering, hotel, wedding coordinator, decor included) my stylist who is flying in with an assistant from Texas, I purchased my dress and most recently our photographer. We will be booking our DJ and officiant next. I am keeping a paper wedding planning book and it does have a time line featured but it also has space for all the vendor information without dates. There is no such thing as too early to start planning, it takes the stress off of having the rush at the 12 month mark and (benefit for us) spreads the payments out over a longer period of time. I will also point out like many PP's...venues fill up QUICK. Our venue had just started accepting June 2020 weddings and we snagged one of the last spots for the weekend we wanted in June. We are having our wedding at a large golf resort that can host several weddings and keep them separated due to design of the venue and timing. Good luck with wedding planning and school, we are all here for you!

16 months engagement here. I bought a wedding planner book at Barnes and Noble. It includes a 12-18 months check list.

Honestly checklist are great however after you book your venue . Task completion might not happen in order so don't stress yourself eventhough you can still use it as a guide.

We just got engaged a couple weeks ago and are planning a November 2020 wedding. I need the lead time for planning and weight loss and sanity. Smiley winking My family is trying to guilt trip us into getting married sooner, saying our grandmother may not made it that long. But she's fine and we already have a contingency plan to do a courthouse thing with her if it came to that.

Currently, I'm focusing on our wedding vision and trying to hire a wedding coordinator because we are doing the wedding in a different state. It will all come together and luckily we have plenty of timw?!

We are having a 16 month engagement. I just used the 12 month timeline and picked things to tackle at my leisure. I figured there isn't really a problem of being "ahead" of the timeline. I first focused on booking important vendors like venue, DJ, etc. I also was able to then order invitations on Black Friday, which saved me a lot of money. They just sat in a box in my apartment for a few months, as I am now addressing them. Having this extra time and pick 1 thing to focus on at a time has made this process so much less stressful.

I'm in grad school too! We got engaged in April 2019, and we are planning out wedding for Dec 2020. I will still be in school so it will be during my holiday break. I havent really found any good longer timetables. I mainly have been doing what would work best for me and my family. For me, that meant getting my dress 16 months before the wedding. I also will likely have to space out my fittings. Honestly the earlier you can nail down the big stuff, the better off you'll be imo.
