1st Half Marathon a month before the wedding?

BlueEyesCurlyQs, on April 17, 2014 at 4:48 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 6

I signed up. I'm doing it, then "running" in a Mudderella 6 days later. Am I crazy? I need some support!

You aren't crazy! My BFF and I are running a 5k a week before her wedding and she's going for a personal record. Sure a 5k isn't really comparable to a half but I don't see anything wrong with it. Sometimes the training involved helps take your mind off all the wedding-y stuff. I guess I would just say be careful in the Mudderella and try to avoid any twisted ankles or major scrapes if you can. Otherwise have fun!

I just signed up for my first half marathon! I'll be doing it in June! GOOD LUCK! I'm having trouble staying motivated but you just have to push past that! It's a mental game at this point

I'm running a 5K two weeks before my wedding. I think it will be a great way to relieve stress! The real reason I'm doing it is because I have another 5k about a month after the wedding and I'm afraid my times won't be as good, since I likely won't get to run much on the honeymoon. I don't want to lose too much speed for the second race, but it can't be helped I guess. I figure right before the wedding I will be at my peak race time for the summer, so I want to take advantage of that and try to kill that race!

I'm running a few races close to the wedding. Running for me (especially long distances) is where I get my me time to think about things. A lot of wedding planning has happened on my long runs!

You aren't crazy at all! Go for it!

My bridesmaids and I are a doing a half marathon 3 weeks before the wedding and my fiancé and his groomsmen are doing ToughMudder about a month out! I think it's great bonding experience and also helps everyone to feel their very best for the big day!

I think it's a great idea and may help you destress and get away from all the hype for just a bit!

Good idea! My FH is encouraging me to sign up for a marathon that is after the wedding. I think he wants me to get back to being active, since with my new job and wedding planning I've sort of fallen off the wagon with exercise.
