Several of my friends are having babies/just had babies so it got me thinking. I was thinking about my future children's names and I realized FH and I have a lot of family members whose legacies we will want to honor/names we want to keep going in our family. Is it weird to give our children 2 middle names so that we can honor multiple relatives?

Obviously it will be a while before we start having children, but the thought popped through my head.

Anybody on here have 2 middle names or give their children 2 middle names? Pros and cons in your experience?

My daughters first name is Savannah-Gene. Now most of the time we just call her savannah but the gene part meant a lot to me since it was my grandpas name who passed away while i was pregnant. Btw her middle name is Grace.

I'm totally planning on doing it - I'm keeping my own name, and each of our kids will get it as a second middle name.

It's pretty common in Hispanic cultures so I don't think it's weird at all!

It wouldn't phase me to see two middle names. FH and I lucked out: we each have a grandmother named Grace #TwoBirdsOneStone

As long as you don't name your child 'Ashton Saint Raincloud'. That name is taken by a kitten.

I'm pretty set on the name "Rosa Linda Maria" and FH's last name (Welch, that's where the confusion will come in with peers lol). It's both of my grandmother's names, my Mom's name, and has the name my Dad wanted to name me originally (Rosalinda, except I'd have it as first name and middle name), so it has that extra special touch to it.

I don't think it's weird at all! I know quite a few people with 2 middle names.

My husband and brother bother have two middle names. Makes a little more work for credit card applications and such but typically they just use their first middle initial

No I don't think it's weird. My little brother has two middle names (both after my mom and step dads grandpas).

Typically hispanic families use both maiden & husband's last name. I've also known families using a family middle name. Totally normal in my world.

FH has two middle names. Second one is his mom's surname. That's my plan for a future child as well since I'm keeping my last name. One of my friends, her brother and her sister all have two middle names. I think it's fine! Your children can choose whether to use both middle names (in non legal situations) or just the first one.
