2 wedding dresses?

Natalie, on February 14, 2019 at 3:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
Will you have 2 dresses for your wedding?
How did you justify getting a second dress?

How many people used 2 dresses for their wedding??
what was your experience?
Do you regret having 2?
Did you buy 2 but end up wearing 1 the whole night?

I bought my wedding dress a while back I thought it was a perfect fit for the ceremony and have it bustled for the reception it’s not super heavy and it’s comfortable but looking around I found another dress that I love and thought it would be perfect for the reception. I don’t like the idea of spending so much money on two dresses I might never wear again (might wear the reception dress for another occasion) but I really do love the 2nd dress.

I have 2, but my second dress is tea length so I can dance & wear it to our after-party that’s outdoors. I reasoned it because it was only $40 & cheaper than getting a bustle added to my ceremony dress, plus I can wear keds with it and not have to worry about it dragging on the ground! I’m not sure entirely when I’m going to change or the logistics of it, but I’m hoping it’ll be an easy switch and I can have someone run my ceremony dress out to the car.

That is a personal preference. For me, I can't imagine spending so much money on a dress not to wear it the entire night. After I bought my dress, I refused to look at any other dresses so there won't be any chance for me to second guess.

I had two. First was a gorgeous lace mermaid corset-back more traditional wedding dress I got for an unbelievable $199 as a sample and it didn’t need alterations. I was so happy to get married in it and do all the photos. It was beautiful but not that comfortable and somewhat heavy.

I was equally happy to change into a short lace Adriana Papell dress I got for $150 at Macy’s for our wonderful evening dinner reception and after party (we got married in Vegas!)

I’m struggling with the same. My dream dress is gorgeous but a heavy mermaid with many layers and a long train. We have a long reception with dancing and live heavy metal. I think I’m going to have to change because it will be hot and I’m clumsy 😂 but the cost! I feel absurd thinking about it but I’m also practical in knowing myself.

I will have 2 dresses. I purchased a $36 dress for my civil ceremony that will take place two weeks before the "wedding". I also found my wedding dress for $95, so I was under my original dress budget of $300. It made sense to rewear my civil ceremony dress (nobody except for immediate family will have seen it), rather than to pay to bustle the wedding dress. And IF I don't end up changing, I won't have lost out on any money.

    I’m up to three

i don’t regret it because I’m self conscious and don’t feel good about myself in anything so I need options?

i only plan to wear one but may not decide which until the last second

    or may decide before...

i dont want to change though so definitely one of the 3

I have two dresses but originally I was not going to. My second was less expensive and definitely more of a party dress than what my gown actually is. I ended up deciding to have a second dress because I was at another wedding where the groom was visibly nervous about stepping on his brides dress. My htb has a clumsy side and with his history of stepping on my prom dresses I decided that a tulle ball gown is probably safer if I do not wear it the entire time so I opted for a fluffy high low that can't be stepped on. That’s a great reason to get a second one. I was hearing a story yesterday about how the groom accidentally ripped a piece of the wedding dress and although the bride was ok with it I spent way to much money to have someone step and rip my dress.

It's true. For our senior prom I had this beautiful organza overlay with floral details and he ended up stepping on it causing it to rip so far that it couldn't be repaired, I ended up with just a satin ball gown skirt because of it. I wasn't mad or anything because it was obviously an accident but I didn't want to chance it with my wedding dress being a whole Lotta tulle lol

My DREAM dress was out of my originally planned budget. I found it on sale, and it was still more than I wanted to spend. It’s a well sought after designer so I decided to splurge and will sell the dress after my big day (already have a buyer lined up)! I won’t be doing alterations because it fits great except a little long, so I don’t want to take the chance of it getting stepped on at the reception. I decided I must get a second dress 1. To preserve dress one for the next lucky lady and 2. It’ll give me a memento to keep. I haven’t found anything yet but I’ll keep it simple and under my original budget!

I ended up buying 2, but it is not my intention to wear 2 lol just a lot of indecisiveness. I’ve finally chosen the dress I am going to wear and am selling the other.
