Any suggestions on how to word a "change the date" announcement that says we are having a mini wedding with immediate family and bridal party this year and the full blown ceremony and reception next year?

Some people worded as change of plans. So it would say you were intending on eloping or having an intimate ceremony now and a larger celebration later on

Do you have a date and everything set for next year yet?
If you go on different invitation sites like Ann's Bridal Bargains, Zazzle, Minted, Simply to Impress, etc., a lot of them have "Change the Date" card templates with pre-written language that you can then re-word depending on your situation.
We did "change of plans" since I don't have a date for the bigger reception yet and didn't want to commit to anything set in stone.
Mine look like this (with website info on the back):
