2 week Honeymoon - where to go?

Lolerskates84, on June 30, 2016 at 10:16 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 30

We're getting married at the end of August and wanted to take 2 weeks for the honeymoon.

I originally thought 1 week Italy, 1 week Greece, but feel like 2 countries in 2 weeks is too aggressive. I've been to Greece, he's been to Italy. We don't want to spend two weeks somewhere we've already been, which is why I figured splitting it.

Any advice on where else to go? Or how to make Italy/Greece work with only 2 weeks?

Carribean is out bc it'll be hurricane season. Generally, we don't like lying around on a beach all day. We like to walk a lot and explore. Don't want to spend more than $2k on flights or more than around $200/night at hotels.

Southern France, specifically the area of Provence and Marseille. Absolutely beautiful country and there is a LOT to do. Check out Aix-en-Provence and Colorado (yes, they have a Colorado). There are tons of tiny, medieval cities with castles and cathedrals.

Check out the southern coast of Spain, Barcelona to Sevilla! Flights to Barcelona are not too long or too expensive and Spain offers history, beaches, and great food just like Italy and Greece.

I've always wanted to go to Nice, France. I would personally do a tour of France like a few days in Paris, Nice, Cannes. I've also heard Thailand is a beautiful place to vacation.

Great suggestions! We were in Spain a couple years ago Barce/Madrid/Sevilla/Granada/Cordoba. It was beautiful. I was also in Thailand the year before. Amazing country. FH is not interested in Asia or France though :/

I've heard Greece is really sketchy right now (military members are even restricted to go there... I know because I'm military...) anyway so I'd go somewhere else for that reason. What about Spain? You could do a week in Italy and a week in Spain or two weeks in either place. Both countries are large enough that you could spend a few days in a few different great cities.

You don't necessarily have to go out of the country? We're going to Alaska for vacation in August. I've always wanted to ride the coast of California. Sedona AZ is a beautiful place too.

You could do a bunch of different Greek islands! That would be really fun, spend a few nights in each place!

I think you can definitely do both in 2 weeks!!! Just pick a couple of places in each Smiley smile

You can fly from Rome to Greece for super-duper cheap on an airline like Ryan Air.

Its SOOO easy to get around to a couple of different places in Italy using Trenitalia. You can book trains in English and you can get around almost anywhere. You can also make 2 weeks work in just one of those countries. So many beautiful things to see and do!

If I may make another suggestion (if you haven't already been)... what about going to Croatia and Montenegro? You would have an AMAZING time! I've been all around Europe, so let me know if you want to chat Smiley smile google pics of Kotor, Montenegro Smiley winking You will be blown away! You could also go into Mostar in Bosnia-Herzegovina from there quite easily. And the best part of this area in Europe is that its CHEAP!

We spent the majority of our honeymoon in London and it was fantastic. We could've easily spent two full weeks there, especially with a few day trips. Bath was gorgeous and only a couple hours from London, and we also loved the adorable, quaint villages in the Cotswalds.

Croatia and Montenegro might be cool to see.

I will be going to Alaska for work in early August, I don't want to take the trip multiple times in one month.

We did part of the CA coast a couple weeks ago since I had a work trip in Berkeley.

I guess we could do more of the CA coast, that was beautiful. I just feel like I was already there this month and want to go somewhere else. I've never been to Napa...maybe that would be a cool trip?

We are thinking of going to Canada for two weeks. We want to travel across the entire county. They have some cool trains that have glass tops and you can take in the scenery. After doing some research there are so many cool places and restaurants in the major cities. Plus a ton of cute B&B's in the smaller cities. We are also super excited to see the northern lights!

We are doing northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, & Germany.) I have heard all of these countries are absolutely beautiful, but I am obviously biased to them at this point.

Yay Canada! If anyone comes to Manitoba (Winnipeg/Brandon/etc) give me a shout!!

If anybody is going to Europe, even if it's a year from now, I suggest buying Euros soon. It suffered a bit from Brexit, and it may fall even more as the UK gets its act together and figures out if/when they'll leave. And, of course, if anyone is going to the UK, it's going to be pretty inexpensive now.

@Alyssa - did your parents do a Baltic cruise? Or just plane hop from place to place?
