Dedicated November 2019

2 year planning timeline

MrsMcCormick, on December 29, 2017 at 2:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 32
Hello everyone! First time poster here! My fiancé and I just got engaged on Christmas Eve and are planning to have our wedding in November of 2019. Does anyone have a link to a 2 year planning timeline? All the ones I’ve found on Pinterest are only 1 year and I’d like to have a guideline to go by! Also if anyone has any advice on planning with a longer engagement it would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

In the same situation. Planning for October 2019. I haven't found any 2 year planning guides.

I never found one either, I had a 2 year 3 month engagement. I made sure to get all big vendors booked 16 months before my wedding date. I had all other things done 3 weeks before my wedding except for seating chart, and picking up my dress. I enjoyed many months of having absolutely no wedding things to do, so I was stress free.

I haven't found one for 2years... I just took the 1yr and adjusted it based on my priorities, so my venue was the first thing I looked for.

Its so frustrating! I saw that there is an Erin Condren wedding planner book with a 24 month planning timeline but I don’t want to spend all that money just for the timeline! Ugh!

I just booked our engagement photos and we have an appointment to tour my dream venue next week. Once that is booked I can relax a little bit!

Haha-- You'd think that but once I booked my venue I was like OMG now I need to secure this or finalize that. I'm in the I love planning stage. Talk to various planners, if you aren't planning on having a full coordinator see if you're day of coordinator can suggest something.

You’re probably right haha! I’m so excited I want to jump right into planning! I’m worried that I will get ahead of myself and have nothing to do for the rest of the engagement

There's always something haha.... My FH says the same thing about ours but we are doing a weekend wedding so there's tons for me to plan out. Plus I'd rather get the planning done sooner, so I don't stress the 6months before our date; just have to worry about making all my final payments.

You can use the timeline that wedding wire has. You can add and delete certain things that don't apply. I had a 2 year engagement. We took a year to save and settle on budgey, guest list, colors, type of photography, and view venues. We are doing a Thursday wedding so all of our vendobudget, available. We started actually booking everything exactly a year from our date. Since then I've been following the year timeline.

Very true! I’m planning on DIY-ing a lot of the decor and other various things so that will definitely take up time!

I’ll be engaged 28 months when we get married.. here’s some things I referred to. I will say, I booked a lot of my stuff early to give time to pay it all off, and lock in prices. It’s never too early to go ahead and plan.

That’s a good idea! I wanted to book my venue ASAP because my heart is totally set on it and dates fill up fast! Next step is finding a photographer and asking the bridal party. I am just so exciting it’s hard not to do everything right now!

Sorry to comment again.. best advice I can give is to go ahead and set your budget, then book your venue before anything else. With no venue, there’s no date. If there’s somewhere particular, so ahead and set up a tour. We booked our venue at 25 months out.

Same situation. Engaged in July and wedding is in september 2019. I've been following the one year guide with adjusted dates to for my personal schedule. So I've already booked my venue and photographer who have complete availability for my date since it's so far ahead. So I would say get a one year wedding planning book so you have an idea of what to do and get as much done now rather than waiting. Also helps buying little stuff along the way as things are discounted throughout the year such as fake flowers and frames

Glad I seem to be on the right track! Venue and photographer are my top priority right now. I’ve been checking my local Facebook market place and craigslist for wedding decor and other various things too. I’ll probably end up DIY-ing a majority of the decor too so I’ll have time to perfect everything and have it exactly as I want it!

Don't do anything except book your venue for a year? Ha. 2 years is so long

Thank you, but your advice or whatever this was supposed to be wasn’t very helpful. Two years might seem long to some but I would rather spend my engagement happy and excited rather than stressing over details and driving myself crazy. Ha.

I had my venue, menu, and bar picked out 16 months and booked before I he wedding and locked down the previous year's prices. A lot of places raise/adjust their prices after the new year.
My only advice is to give yourself more than 6 months to get the MUA. The one I wanted is all booked up.
