Hey ladies,

What cake flavors are you guys thinking of? Are you going for an old fashion look? Fondant? Or the new naked?

I myself am not a big fan of fondant and have seriously been considering the naked cake. Im having some doubts being that I didn't plan on keep all tiers the same flavor. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

This is what I'm currently working on right now. I didnt know that wedding cakes were so expensive! Checking prices for different people now. I'm not a big sweets person so I have no idea how I want it to taste! It just needs to look pretty and taste good 😂.

This is my inspiration pic right now.

Smiley love That cake is gorgeous!

I love sweets but I don't care for the thick layers of icing. I'd like to taste the moisture with the perfect balance of icing. I've noticed at many events the icing is left on the plate after the cake is gone 😂

These are the cakes we’re doing (except with a few small modifications)! My cake will have 3 strawberry tiers & 1 lemon teir, and the groom’s cake will have the bottom teir in chocolate fudge with chocolate ganache, the middle teir in cookies & cream with marshmallow filling, and the golf ball will be almond wedding cake. We got my cake for $608, and FH’s for $185. The cake tasting was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning. 😍

My cake idea is from the magic kingdom Disney’s haunted mansion 😁😁
The woman I hired is so excited to create this. The cake will have the wallpaper from inside the ride. Eeeeeeee I’m so excited.

We dont have anything engraved in stone yet but all the people we polled informally point out that frosting is usually what people like the most and that without it the cake can be dry, especially if it's a cake from scratch. The cakes from a box have additives for moisture that scratch recipes don't call for. Also, cake from scratch can be dense so if the bake on the cake isn't perfect, the frosting can help mask a number of minor problems with the sponge. We're skipping fondant because we don't like the taste. We'll stick with buttercream. Our reception will be inside in the fall, so we should be good with the buttercream not melting.

We are doing a bunch of different flavors of cupcakes. Red velvet, carrot cake, chocolate something. Then 2 more flavors that TBD. We are also having a vanilla cake with blueberry filling for a small cake for us to cut. My aunt is making them for us as a gift. We get to try our vanilla cake with blueberries this weekend. I cant wait!!!

We are doing textured buttercream! For each of our three tiers we will have a different flavor. Our tasting is on Sunday but we are thinking French almond, pink champagne, and lemon flavors

My MOH and I will be making the cake and I have too many ideas still that need to be narrowed down! Since FH dislikes cake (actually dislikes frosting), and we are having a small wedding with about 65 guests we don’t need a huge multi-tier cake. I’m thinking two small tiers, one chocolate with chocolate ganache (a huge hit at my daughters birthday party!) and one vanilla with strawberry filling, along with assorted cookies for FH instead of a groom’s cake. I’m also considering pink champagne and/or lemon, but I still have time for more trials!

Coconut or vanilla (maybe both) and it will have whipped icing and be decorated with tropical flowers!

We will be using buttercream frosting. Im not a big fan of fondant. Naked cakes look super pretty, but my biggest concern would be that the cake would dry out.

We're actually doing one small top layer of lemon which will be ours...but we're doing cupcakes with strawberry, coffee and red velvet. It's cheaper and it doesn't go to waste.

My sister has taken up cake decorating and wants to try and make ours, so we've been talking about that a ton lately! Kind of liking the honey and berry idea, but nothing's set in stone yet. Just want it to be a light flavor since it'll be a hot summer day and we're having BBQ. We hate fondant and the naked cake trend just isn't for us, so we're going with a simply decorated buttercream.

We picked a shop to do tastings at but can't pick just 5 flavors to try out of the possible 42! I do want the top 3 tiers of the cake for the design but also want a sun in the middle tier for Tangled 😅

Since our wedding for 14 more months I haven’t really given it much thought yet, but I know we are only doing 1 or 2 tiers for us to cut and then cupcakes for everyone else

I’m going the naked cake route and we’re going to do a 4 tiered cake we haven’t settled on flavors yet but I think that we’re going with Spice, Lemon, French vanilla and Vanilla Almond. I look forward to the cake more than anything lol
