Who else is getting married in 2+ years? How much planning have you actually done so far? I’m getting married on December 31, 2020 and I feel so lost with planning (or even getting all of my ideas straight) since my wedding is so far away. Anyone else feeling this way?

We are torn between the Providence Biltmore, Hotel Providence and The Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. We’ve always loved Salem and have gotten engaged there, and typically stay there once a year in October, but it’s not the most cost effective option. We are meeting with someone on 2/17 to talk about wedding packages.

I understand. I'm just"winging it" for right now. Because my wedding is going to be very small and intimate, I'm not really sure what to do. I'm not going to have a caterer, venue or a reception area because we will be having our ceremony and reception at home. The only thing I am focused on is finding a bakery in my small country town that'll make my dream cake.

Date twin!! I'm getting married in Philly... how about you?

You're the first person I've found for 5/9/20 so I'm geeking out a whole lot right now!

I am getting married July 18th 2020 and every time I look at stuff I feel like it's too early to actually order or set deposits on anything!.. but at the same time I would love to just get it done and know that it's taken care of..
Are you guys actually putting deposits down or have you already planned things yet?! is it too early? when IS the appropriate time to really start making plans?

I can agree. I also feel like its so good to be ahead of the game but hate when people or family dont take it seriously or share the same excitement because it is over a year away. But we have picked our venue and booked our wedding planner!

We finally set the date for April 25, 2020 - the perfect date! So far we have venue + catering figured out and I'm pretty sure about a photographer but we have to sign the contract. Everything is much more expensive than we originally wanted but thankfully we're lucky enough to have parents that have fronted a significant amount to help.

My wedding is actually the day before yours! I've been touring venues since October of last year. I would definitely start looking and book sooner than later. This is the biggest thing in my opinion to get checked off. Not to mention I have already had people trying to book the same day . It may seem like it's far, but a lot of vendors are saying they booking quickly. Just get it done and have one less thing to worry about Smiley smile

Find a venue now! We started looking a week after we got engaged and we had to move our wedding date back 2 years! Nothing was available, well nothing that was a nice venue.

Omg, so frustrating! I'm hopefully 6/20/2020. I think people say you have time or my favorite "well, it's your wedding" to just dismiss us politely although not so politely. I'm not going to have the luxury of taking off the week before the wedding. I want it planned and done. The spam texts are brutal. Email is fine because we created a joint gmail account specifically for bridal expos and vendors. We moved from DC to NC in January and were engaged a month later. So we know no one here. All my friends got married 10 years ago while I chose to go to law school, so they aren't any help. With the internet and Pinterest there is so much pressure on us to have this unique, personalized over the top event and no one understands my anxiety, particularly my grandmother (85) and FMIL (73). Yes, weddings do cost 20-30k and yes there are hundreds of tasks to be done. IDK, I may need a therapist and some meds. I'm not kidding.

We have decided that we’re getting married on May 9, 2020, but we don’t have anything in place yet. We just met with a venue coordinator to tour wedding packages and decided we love that one. Now the battle is coming up with the money, and I can’t even decide what dress I’m going to get. Ugh!

Aug 2020 for us. We have those standing up for us and nothing more. Plus I only have 3 ladies and he has 4 men. Is anyone having a less than equivalent number of attendees of bridesmaid opposed to groomsmen?
