How much is reasonable to pay a wedding officiant in 2021?

    On average, its about $400.
    I personally wouldn't pay more than $200.

No two will charge the same price. Go on Yelp for your area and see. What you are paying is completely different from someone across the country. It's a "you get what you pay for" type thing and with lower prices your paperwork may not be filed correctly, among other situations.

Prices range from roughly $300 to over $1000

Prices greatly vary depending on location so there really isn't a standard price. We paid $550. It would have been cheaper if he wouldn't have been at our rehearsal, but we extra for him to be there to make sure everything ran smoothly. I'm glad we did because the venue coordinator wanted something done one way and he wanted something done a different way so it could have been a disaster at the actual wedding if it hadn't been ironed out beforehand.

Ours was $950, which included a travel fee (would have been $700 if we lived closer). We got married with only 5 guests and our officiant really made the ceremony feel special, so it was worth it for us.

It depends where you are and what you want! When budgeting I was expecting an officiant to be around $250, so I was shocked when I started getting quotes averaging $500. The cheaper ones were just basic paperwork and traditional civil ceremony. My officiant was $510 but I really like her personally and she'll also be creating a personalized ceremony for us.

I charge $225.00 This fee includes 2 consults with the couple to create their perfect wedding script, a 2 hour time slot for rehearsal, performing the ceremony, and then filing the marriage application with the proper authorities.
When pricing out your minister, you really need to know how much time and effort they are going to put in to YOUR event. If you want inexpensive and just the basic "I do's" then go with a JP or notary.
