Krissey
Dedicated June 2021

2021

Krissey, on June 23, 2020 at 7:56 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 1
So, in February we traveled to FL to choose a wedding venue. We found one we liked but by the time we got home and had discussed everything the global pandemic occurred and everything shut down. Things are opening up again (although FL seems to be a mess at the moment) but we are still hesitant to book the venue not knowing when this will be over but also don’t want to lose out to those who have to reschedule their weddings...
A little background: this is the second wedding for both of us so fairly small (25-35 people depending on who chooses to travel). Our immediate family is 7 of those people (we have 5 kids altogether). I’m nervous to plan the venue we chose if people can’t travel next June (2021). But I also am nervous to lose out on a venue we love and is weddingish but still small for our small reception.
People who live in FL, what do you think?

Hi Krissey! A year definitely gives you plenty of time for things to get better, but I understand your nerves!

What do the terms of the contract look like? Beyond the non-refundable deposit, is there a cancellation policy where you wouldn't lose more money if you cancel fairly far in advance? It's worth looking in to! I'd also consider how much travel it would be for your 25-35 guests - is FL a plane flight away or a long drive?

There are some fall & winter Florida brides you can connect with in this discussion: Florida November 2020 Brides, and you can talk with other couples planning weddings for 2021 in these posts: 2021 brides and Covid-19 and June 2021 Brides!
