Hello Al I need opinions here. So last year I had a hair/makeup trial at my DW Salon. I thought I looked beautiful, but my curls went flat within 1.5hrs into my engagement session. Hello Al

I need opinions here. So last year I had a hair/makeup trial at my DW Salon. I thought I looked beautiful, but my curls went flat within 1.5hrs into my engagement session. Fastforward to this year. A few months ago, I booked a perm with the same salon so my hair would hopefully hold curl on wedding day. I just had my perm yesterday and Idk how to feel. FH is disgusted! For the cost, he said I do my own hair way better and he hasn't been impressed yet with this salon. Hes not being mean, just honest. I asked him about my hair and makeup trial last year. He said it was okay, but he prefers how I do my makeup. Lol, people. All I wear is eyeliner! Anyways, tell me what you think and what you would do?After hearing such disappointing reactions from my mom and friends, I reached out to the salon asking if this is the result I should of had. I know theres nothing they can do, they warned me during booking that perms are tricky and they can't guarantee the results. Its a bummer because I had a perm years ago and I had no issues. Anyways, thanks for reading! Pic below is after air drying.cfb_1379563.jpg
After getting back to the house, I misted my hair and used a ton of their curling product they recommended. Better, but idk. I feel I could of achieved the same look without spending the money..cfb_1379565.jpg

I would not pay $2 to have someone make my hair look like that, let alone $222. That is NOT a perm. My hair stylist can curl my hair with a flat iron and it will hold the curl for at least 24 hours, well into the next day even after sleeping on it. Do not go back to that salon! When I was younger my hair had a life of its own and it was difficult to get it to hold any style (straightening it, curling it, etc) but even my friends and I in high school were able to get it to do more than that. Now it's much easier; I don't know if my hair changed or we just got better at our hair styling skills and using the right products and tools.

You are so pretty and your hair doesn't look like a particularly challenging texture or that is has a ton of damage where styling it properly would be that difficult. If your trial doesn't hold during a regular day, it's not going to hold when you are dancing and going all day on your wedding day. Find a different salon!

Thank you and everyone for your opinions/suggestions! I feel like everyone has talked some sense into me lol. My wedding was postponed, so I used that to my advantage to cancel my original appt. I reached out to a bridal studio who is highly recommended (even though the other salon was too). They were featured on SYTTD with one of the participants who got married in the area! Not sure why I didn't go with them in the first place haha. I stressed the difficulty to them of styling my hair (Asian roots), and the owner said they are comfortable and guarantee they can get any type of hair to hold. So thats comforting! As guilty as I feel for not going back to the salon I've been using while on vacation, I think this is the wisest decision for my wedding day. Unfortunately I won't be able to afford another hair/makeup trial, but I'll take my chances and hope for the best 🤞 and FH has appreciated you all haha

If you’re able to ( not sure if someone else already said this or not but going to let you know just in case) ...I would get a refund on the services you were given and not satisfied with. Again if you’re able to..At least try to get a refund from the ‘perm’ because I agree it looks like they did absolutely nothing and I’ve received quite a few perms before-all varying styles of perms as well. In saying this things can happen and perhaps the person doing your perm was a novice or even the chemicals just didn’t react properly with your hair maybe? Not sure.
Things happen; however you shouldn’t have to pay (especially not that much money) for things not happening correctly/being out of your control. Also congrats on your upcoming big day and -besides your hair not being curled how you’d like- (I still think your hair is beautiful as well though. Looks very healthy! & I’m jealous!)
you’re beautiful and will make a gorgeous bride! 💍 ❤️ 🤗 And everything will go perfectly on the day of ❤️❤️

Thank you so much for your comment! I'm debating on an updo or down at the moment, but I did book with a new bridal salon for the wedding. Unfortunately a refund wasn't possible since I was warned my hair might not take perm.. Beings they're professionals, I guess I expected too much and went with it anyways. I know the product used was some type of Paul Mitchell. They like organic type products so idk... Huge disappointment though since I now know it did not come out properly.. But thank you for your kind comment!! ❤
