25lbs in 7 months

E, on October 3, 2015 at 12:40 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 21

I have 7 months until the wedding and I want to lose about 25lbs. I don't have to worry about fitting in my dress because it is very flowy and can easily accommodate weight fluctuations but I feel and look best at about 120lbs and I'm at 145 now. I want to tone my arms a bit but otherwise just lose enough to look and feel more comfortable. What's the best plan to do this? I've never done a consistent die or exercise regime before and am not sure where to start.

I think running is a great full body workout, add some cross training and you should easily be able to lose 25lbs in 7 months! just remember to eat lots of protein and less fat

Not only add excersize to your daily life, but also eat better. You can't out excersize a bad diet.

Eat more vegetables and decrease the amount of junk food (or all of it if you can help it.)

Keeping a daily journal really helped me.

I use the lose it app, but there are other great ones out there.

I also try to do a little bit more than what I am doing. So if I'm sitting I'll stand if I'm standing I'll move a bit.

I take the long way to the bathroom. Just little things to make sure I'm doing more.

I gained so much weight when I moved in with FH too! He has a crazy fast metabolism and is actually trying to gain weight. We always have chips and ice cream around the house and I have no self-control with it. I've been trying to make weekly meal plans and do more of the cooking to help with the unhealthy dinners.

    Good luck to you too!

Cut 500 calories out per day (either with diet or exercise). Do that for a week and you've lost a pound since 3500 calories = 1 pound. Use an app called Calorie Count to keep track of what you're eating. It'll let you see how much fats/calories you're actually consuming. If you aren't used to exercise, start out slowly. Perhaps invest in Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred for $8 at Target. (also need light hand weights)

I lost about 25lbs in the same time span before my wedding using the app myfitnesspal to track my calories and nutrition. It really helped me learn how to diet without feeling starved everyday and helped me realize how easily one calorie bomb can tank your whole day. I hate exercising, but I tried to get at least 10,000 walking steps per day and ran on the elliptical for 15 min about 3x/week.

That's about 3.5 pounds a month- it's doable- difficult but doable.

the closer you get the more difficult it will be- but you should easily be able to drop 15- then fight for the next ten.

I lost 35 lbs in 8 months doing weight watchers. The meetings are great for accountability. And I use their mobile app to track what I eat everyday. It's great for portion control. I think 25 lbs is totally doable in this time frame: stay focused on smaller goals (like losing 1 lb per week) to help keep your enthusiasm going.

I lost 45 pounds in about 7 months. I did this mostly through a change in diet. I would recommend downloading myfitnesspal. There is a WW group as well. Enter your current weight and what your goal weight is and it will give you calorie and macro goals (carb max, protein minimum, fiber minimum and fat) to hit daily. Start by tracking what you would normally eat for a week. Then start to try to hit your goals. This method is more about moderation and portion control. I also recommend going to the gym twice a week or more and do a combo of cardio and weight training. Both are important. Fitocracy is a good app to track workouts.

Try to prep your meals ahead of time and plan your workouts if you can. You can do it!! If you lose 1 pound a week you'll be on track and that's very reasonable and doable. Good luck!!

Find an exercise you actually enjoy. I tried everything... workout tapes, ellipticals, classes at the gym, weights... I hated it all, so I couldn't make myself do it.

And then I started running. I never liked running during high school sports or anything, and I still hate treadmills, but getting outside of the road and pushing myself is now one of my favorite things in the world. It's the best therapy I've ever had, and I'm never happier than I am when I'm running consistently. And by combining it with keeping an eye on my diet, I lost 12 pounds in 2 months, from 138 to 126. I only run at night since it's so hot where I live, but I genuinely look forward to it after a long day.

Running may not be right for you, but something will click. Find out what it is, and you'll be able to make exercising fun and not terrible.

Well, first things first: get yourself a free calorie counter app on your phone. I'm using LoseIt right now, but I have also used the more popular one MyFitnessPal. The best way to cut calories is first take a week to just count calories without worrying what you are eating. Most calorie counting apps will let you set how much weight you want to lose to show you how many calories you should eat to do that. You can safely lose up to 2lbs/week depending on your starting weight and height. You should never eat less than 1200 calories (unless you're cool with not getting enough food for your body to use as energy to live!). Once you've logged your calories for a week of normal eating, you can see how much you need to adjust. Hypothetically you could eat nothing but junk, and, if you stayed below maintenance calories, you would still lose weight. Now, I suggest not doing that lol. But adding some extra fruit and veggies to your diet and cutting out sugary drinks can make a lot of difference by itself. Another lady said this, but if you cut 500 calories from your maintenance calories (which is how much you would eat to maintain your current weight), you will lose about a pound a week (which is equal to 3500 calories). If you have a bad day of eating, do not be demotivated. Just let it go and get back on track, because it won't affect you significantly in your weight loss at all.

With all that in mind, weight loss is much easier with exercise. Technically, in regards to calories, it doesn't matter how you cut the calories: whether it be food or exercise. Say to lose weight you needed to stay around 1500 calories. If you workout and burn 300 calories, you can eat 1800 calories. Because your calorie total is always calories-eaten minus calories-burned equals your total. As long as you aren't lower than 1200 calories (can't stress that enough. There can be serious backfire from not eating enough calories. If nothing else, your body needs those calories to fuel your workouts!). Working out and making it a habit is best served by doing what you like. And that can really be anything! Personally, I'm a big fan of weight lifting, yoga, kickboxing, and HIIT. But for you it might be running, walking, biking, dancing, and so on. So, if you want to be consistent, make sure you are doing something you enjoy. It helps a lot. For toning your arms and anywhere else, I have to recommend weight lifting. It can make such a dramatic difference in the definition of your muscles! I also love recommending www.fitnessblender.com because they have over 400 FREE workouts on their site. I have really enjoyed their videos, and they really get results. You can also look into local fitness classes and trainers, if you think that would work better for you!

Honestly the best diet for anyone (not just for people to lose weight) is very low sugar, low carb, high saturated fat ( go look up what doctors are saying now about low sat. fat being healthy) and LOTS of water.

I'm really against fads or quick lose diet plans. If you eat a healthy balanced diet exercise you can easily lose 25lbs in 7 months. If you want to quick diet and over exercise then be aware of all the added stress you will be putting on your body .

and Calories DO NOT equal pounds Does any one know how many calories are burned by digestion? Its alot more than people realize. And if I told you I eat 2,000 cal today you would say that good. but If i told you all day I eat 3 woppers you'd look at me like i'm crazy... just saying worry about the foods you are consuming not the calories.....

I'm doing Whole30 right now to kickstart my healthy eating. Adding in a DietBet starting today with my coworkers, which will motivate me to workout more. Get exercise in any way you can. Take the stairs instead of an elevator or escalator. Park at the back of the parking lot. Drink tons of water & try not to drink your calories (juice, soda, alcohol). Best of luck! It sounds super doable.

I think you've already gotten a lot of great advice, I just wanted to add that I use sparkpeople.com, just so you have another option. I like the format better than myfitnesspal and they have a specific diet plan for diabetics, which I find really helpful. Good luck reaching your goal!

I think having a strict diet with a good exercise plan you should be good to go. Don't forget a strict diet also means you can have a cheat day once a week to eat whatever you like!

I'm in the same boat with my husband as OP. My husband is 6'4 and weighs 190 with a crazy metabolism. He's always trying to gain weight and eats ALL THE TIME! So after we got married, I adopted a lot of his eating habits... and I gained the weight he was looking for! I tried everything to get it off, and I was finally able to when I started Advocare. I lost 14 pounds and 16 1/2 inches using Advocare... that was just my first 24 day challenge. I have lost about 30 pounds since then. I legitimately cried when I saw my before and afters when I finished that first challenge. The attached picture is the results from my first challenge. If you have any questions, just let me know!

My FH and I got FitBits. in 3 weeks i lost 5 pounds. It helps you track your steps, your calorie intake and loss. It connects to your phone so you can keep track and see where you stand for your daily goals. We also started eating smaller portions and trying to eat better, and we commit to a 30 minute walks everyday. We do have our occasional day where you splurge because we know we'll get off track if we don't have one day where we treat ourselves.

My goal is to also be about 120, but really i just want to feel beautiful. Good Luck LSBR!

Hire a qualified personal trainer and work with a nutritionist. I'm down 20 since September.

Generally, if you're like me, you'll find that sticking to something like this will be very difficult, especially in this span of time. You're going to have to be super strict with your diet and exercise. I would definitely hire a qualified person trainer/nutritionist or both.

I believe in you, best of luck :-)! Wait until you see how great you feel once you start meeting your goal.
