26th Feb 2022 brides - check in!

Rosie, on September 20, 2021 at 6:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 17

Hello hello fellow 26th febbers! (covid willing of course!)

how are we all feeling? What have you got left to plan? Is anyone else a little anxious that it might be hard to make all the planning arrangements that are generally made 4-6 weeks before the wedding (menus, printing, last minute alterations, etc) since it will be around Christmas and New Years/General Holiday Period? or are you having a bit of a Christmas/Holiday break, and feel like you'll be able to get stacks done?

I'm a couple weeks later, 03/12/2022 and I'm starting to get super anxious. It's like theres a ton to do yet nothing to do at the same time!

Ugh, SAME! Because we postponed, the only things we had left were things which needed to be organised closer to the time, and like you, I feel like there is a ton to get through, and yet we can't start any of it yet!

OMG I never realized we were date twins!

I'm stressed about money, mostly and all the little details because I feel I need to start buying now or else all the expenses will pile on last minute (and the guest list is just SO.MANY.*****.PEOPLE) but I'm having a hard time trying to wade through all the tiny details (plates, cups, napkins, linens, settings, serving trays etc). All big ticket item deposits have been paid except for booze and music. Music is stressing me out right now because I need to find someone who plays EVERYTHING (alternative, rock. folk, country, salsa, merengue, cumbia, banda, top 40, oldies, hip hop, 80s) and trying to keep it under $1000, so that's my big struggle right now. Also our booze is MORE than our venue (we were only allowed to use 1 of 2 vendors for alcohol), so trying to scrounge that money up is very stressful.

Gratefully my dress was made to order so I don't need alterations and I don't have a bridal party to fuss about. People are going to be getting a nice card for xmas from me and not much else cuz I am closing down the wallet from here til then Smiley atonished

    Yay date twins!

I understand the money thing, it's very stressful. Hopefully everything will work out just fine! In our case, we were expecting to have had our wedding by now, so if anything, we've been gifted an extra six months to save (although... I'd prefer to be married if I'm honest, stupid covid!)

I've left the music in my fiance's hands as he had strong feelings about it and honestly have no idea what it will be like - I've just handed the mental stress of that over to him and decided it's his problem, LOL! I strongly recommend this technique!

Date Twins- 2/26/22!!! I’ve got pretty much all the big stuff done, having a wedding planner has helped SO much! I’m not as worried about last minute planning things as I am about forgetting something the day of the wedding. I’m worried I’ll forget our cups or my hair piece. I feel like I’ll be thinking about the big things so much that I might forget some little details that I put thought into, but forgot the day of.

Ugh, yes, I am also worried I'll forget things! Our venue is about 1.5 hours drive from our house so if we forget anything it will be a right pain to go back and get it, so I have many, many lists, haha!

I'm very stressed. We've been engaged for almost two years but only been wedding planning since January 2021. Found out recently that my maid of honor cannot attend, my sister's bridemaids dress was the first one we've done, and still the only one we've done. Because it is a popular color and popular style, it won't arrive until about a month before the wedding. My fiancé has only asked his best man the big question, but none of his groomsmen. This makes me anxious and makes me feel stuck as I can't send out invites, can't be done with the wedding website with info about wedding party with pictures. I still don't have his uncles' addresses. Just scheduled another bridesmaid and junior bridesmaid appointment. I'm not worried about money as my fiance makes a lot and he's paying for the big stuff such as venue, photographer, while I pay for decor, dollar tree items like utensils and serving bowls.

I've brought up the groomsmen thing multiple times to my fiancé and its so overwhelming for him to do and I understand that its anxiety inducing etc. He finally asked the rest of his family for addresses so we've made a bit of progress. Any suggestions?

I'm sorry you're so stressed! Could you change the dresses to something that will arrive a bit further away from the day to give you a bit more comfort?

And with the groomsmen, I don't know there's any need for them to know before the invitations go out, because presumably they'd be invited either way. You could just set a hard deadline by which the invitations are going out, and tell your fiance that's the day he needs to tell them by if he feels he needs to ask them before the invitations are sent.

Honestly I’m stressing a little and my FH is trying to help ease my mind. It seems like it’s a lot closer than what it really is lol

Ugh I’m hearing you guys. The holidays really do take a chunk of prep time out, don’t they! Plus I know I tend to put on just a bit of weight over the holidays which is the last thing I want as I’m getting my alterations done! But I guess I’ll just have to make time for it if it matters to me and be a bit stricter with the Christmas cake and turkey this year!

I'm literally all planned. We had to postpone our wedding due to covid and all of our vendors are amazing and held our payments without additional fees and such.

Ugh, same - the majority of our vendors have been so good! we've been very, very lucky, all considered. I worry though, that maybe we THINK we're all done but then will realise a few weeks out that we're not, and have to rush around hysterically, haha

Well as anything can happen you're probably right. I just want to get married and if things aren't perfect I'm not going to be freaking out. I just want to marry my best friend and be his wife.

I really hear you there. The postponement added 6 months of waiting, but we'd already been waiting 18 months in the hopes that things would be better.
