3 in 1 Dance!

Mariana, on September 15, 2019 at 4:07 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

Hi! So we're doing the whole reception protocol with our presentation, wedding party, welcome message, toast, father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, bride/groom dance, throwing the bouquet and the lace and everything. Choosing our songs, obviously we don't want to take that much time so we're joining our songs together in a mix so the three dances are all in one soundtrack mix. What's your suggestion in time duration? We were thinking 7 minutes, where we would divide 2 minutes on father/daughter, 2 minutes on mother/son and the remaining 3 on bride and groom. Also, do you think funny or sexy songs would be adequate for the lace throwing? Any song suggestions? I listen to all types of music, so don't be shy on suggesting!!

Did it help with the crying? Because I'm also suggesting that to my fh because I know if I have a solo dance with my dad, I won't be able to keep it together. Somehow having them dancing at the same time I think sounds much better.

I don't think it made a difference with crying. It was nice to kill 2 birds with one stone though.

    Hey Mariana!

I think the timing breakdown that you mentioned sounds perfect! Have you chosen your first dance song as a couple?

If you wanted, you could even have the mother-son dance and the father-daughter dance simultaneously and dance to the same song.

That's also a great idea!!! Now we can't decide lol We had chosen a song, but then heard/sang another one whole heartedly which we also thought was perfect and now we don't know.

Sorry for rhe long response!! But I needed to explain why it'a hard 😭😂 Well we were first going with "Esto es Vida" from Draco Rosa who's a famous american-puertorrican singer and cancer survivor. The chorus says "Vamos a hacer nuestra casa en el cielo de la selva. Cultivar amor en ramas y plantar estrellas. Beber amor cada noche y comer amor cada día, esto es vida." meaning 'Let's make our home on the sky above the jungle. Cultivate love on branches and plant the stars. Drink love every night and eat love every day, this is life.' (Plus we love his music) lol

Then, the song we heard and got crazy singing (we didn't remember it existed but loved it way before) was "Tal Como Eres" from El Canto del Loco who were a spanish pop group. And I'm thinking that I sincerely love you like this, just how you are, just like I know what you do makes you happy, just how you are. I'm trying to do something for both, even simplifying my inner self. I'm trying to see myself just how I am, that's what I have." and it meant a huge deal since it basically says what we struggle with every day. BUT BOTH SONGS GO HAND IN HAND WITH US.

Then again, we were thinking Soja since we know each and every song plus they have beautiful love songs 🤦🏻‍♀️

I think the time breakdown sounds good. I agree with the suggestions to merge a coupe of the dances. I think a sexy or sexy/funny song would be great for the garter toss. Maybe something like "i'm to sexy" by Right said Fred?
