Girl, it will help you get in shape. Word of advice: Do not get frustrated if you can't finish. I started using Jillian Michaels DVDs at 232 pounds and am now 178. They work. Just stick with it and oh, yeah, mute her if she gets annoying!

When you've finished the Shred check out No More Trouble Zones. I did it two days ago and am STILL sore....

Start TONIGHT...now that you have it, don't give yourself any excuses to wait any longer! Pick a certain time every day that you're always free, and make an appointment with yourself to do the video every day. You'll be sore (really sore) the first few days, but it's better to keep exercising through it than to stop for a few days and then start all over again. I used to want to throw things at the TV, but it's much easier now. I think I'm going to start No More Trouble Zones too, Mrs. S!

Best advice that I can give you is to get a heart rate monitor and track your heart rate from work out to work out. Each time you work out you want to be able to burn more calories than the last (you will burn more with a higher heart rate). Other than that don't get discouraged if you have to take a break or can't finish the work outs, they will take time to get into especially with 2 years of not working out.

@Rosie - Be prepared. I have been walking like a crotchety old man for two days now. OUCH. It's 40 minutes of high intensity combo weight exercises that work multiple large and small muscle groups. I had to get help getting up from my poor FH who has had to listen to me for two days whine about it. I did it Wednesday night and I'm doing it again tonight. One day I hope I will actually ENJOY the pain....

Woohoo!!! :-) That's awesome you go the DVD! I agree with Rosie, having a set time to do it really helps (well I mean I should practice what I preach, but still lol!). That way there really is no major decision involved-you just know you are going to do it..also that way you don't feel guilty for not working out..I rotate it with other things though so the same muscles aren't getting worked out everyday. As far as working out too make a schedule, since you haven't in 2 years I'd say start off gradually kinda, like I mean don't make the goal to work out every single day, that could get overwhelming, maybe start with like 3-4 times per week..that way it becomes more a lifestyle thing and not a huge burden..if you are really enjoying/getting into it you can always up the days. :-)

Especially with the Jillian videos the first few times through give yourself permission to stop to catch your breath, that's important since they are TOUGH workouts..you need to listen to your body cont

And introduce yourself to it..you will see improvements in your stamina even after a week of doing it! Good luck! Also know you have many ladies here on a workout regimen too to help with motivation when you need it! :-)

I'm on day 4 of the 30 day shred. And it is a real butt kicker!! I couldn't even finish it the first day, I gave up after circuit 2. But my endurance is definitely improving, as I can finish the whole workout now, so I guess that means its working!!

It will kick your butt! Be prepared to be sore as hell for a few days. It does get easier... I promise. I am on week 2 now and it is still killing me every day.
