4 months now what

Lynne, on April 7, 2022 at 12:25 AM Posted in Planning 13 38
I am 4 months away to my day. What do I do now?

I have my dress (just need alterations...scheduled), have part of my hair accessories and my jewelry. Wedding party has been selected. Got the majority of our decorations (don't want many). Working on the menu (he wants it catered but I don't). Playlist for the reception and for me to walk to is selected.
I almost feel lost. I definitely don't like this feeling.

Hi Smiley smile. If you don't want it catered then what do you want for the menu? Do you have music for when you leave the ceremony? Has the wedding party got their dresses? Have you booked your hair and make up artists? Have you decided on seating and if you are going to have anything on the end of the pews/lines of chairs to decorate? Have you organised a seating chart for the reception? Have you got your shoes and lingerie? Have you organised your honeymoon and thought about anything you might need to get for that eg: passport or visas? Do you need new luggage for your honeymoon? Have you done your wedding registry? Have you thought about your bridal shower and/or your bachelorette party? That's all I can think of right now Smiley smile

I originally wanted something simple (this is our second marriage to each other, first one was nothing special, this time he wants it memorable). Music is selected. Bridal party have dresses selected. Going to hair salon in morning day of and makeup artist is selected. No assigned seating except for where my mom and grandma sit (my dad & stepdad & grandpa passed away). Not decorating the chairs. Only seating chart for reception is the head table, it will be us with our children. No honeymoon right away, planning on a weekend getaway a few weeks later. Not sure about a registry, we live together. Who plans the bachelorette party and/or bridal shower?

Oh the shower and bachelorette might be done by your MOH and bridesmaids but I had a say in what mine was so I knew what was happening and stuff but that's because I didn't want a night out and had a lovely afternoon getting feet pedicures and hand manicures and stuff like that Smiley smile. You are very organised Smiley smile What about a guest book or something to sign for the guests? Smiley smile

Sounds like a good idea. I took a week long break at the end of January due to stress.

That's no good. I hope you are feeling better now and not stressing too much. I would take a little break from it and make sure I keep my mental health good as well. Smiley smile

Oh yeah I'm doing great. A friend was trying to take control of my wedding (guest list, venue, colors, menu, bridesmaid dresses). I solved the problem.

Why do people do that? That's not good of someone who is supposed to be a friend and follow what you want for your day.

That's what I thought. But my FH thinks she was jealous because we are having the wedding that we want & we are the ones paying for it all. When she got married it wasn't where she wanted. She turned a lot of things into a competition. I just couldn't take it anymore, she would "pause" the friendship every few years, I got tired of the drama she brought. I ended the friendship.

That sounds like the best option for someone who has been toxic for a few years now. You don't need that stress in your life and especially when you are planning a wedding.

The venue/food/drinks are the biggest part of the planning. Are all of this nailed down?

I was just confused because you don’t seem to have a caterer since you’re not sure if you want one? If not, I’d get on that pretty fast. Depending on the size of your guest list, food might be stressful to organize.
